      I was just wondering if there's a chance for us to watch a review on @Techivation M-Clarity from you. That'd be awesome!
      I've been hearing a lot about it lately. Some people think it is a great alternative to Soothe 2. I'm just getting started in the "Resonance Suppressor's world" lol.
      Thank you!!

    Thanks for highlighting this great plugin. I've been using it for two years and find, when used correctly, it's a real help. You need to set it carefully though, it can easily suck the character and life out of a vocal or guitar. Another important way I use it is to side chain the Band master bus into an instance of Soothe 2 on the Vocal bus. This ensures that frequencies in the band don't compete with those in the vocal. Also, the "delta" control is key, so you can listen to what Soothe 2 is cuttng out of the track. This helps ensure you have your settings exactly right.

    Love soothe, it's a real problem solver, my suggection is : just be careful and don't overuse it without hearing first where the problems are, or you'd risk to make things dull and to suck out too much energy from your tracks

    Greetings Chris. Yep Soothe 2 does the job, but I'm intrigued to know what technique you personally use within Cubase's stock plugins or indeed any other third party plugins before you started using Soothe 2. Yep Soothe 2 eats CPU for breakfast, lunch and dinner. and for me as an alternative I sometimes use Baby Audio's Smooth Operator. What says you?

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline  Год назад +1

      I also used Smooth Operator, for a few things, but not as easy to work with compared to Soothe. Before these types of plugins, I used a bit more Dynamic EQ on some tracks. It's close, but not quite the same.

    overrated? obviously. Now let's watch the video ;) (also let me put this straight: resonance is becoming the new gluten but it's a fundamental component of sound and most of what gives your recordings character and your acoustic instruments their special timbre - when it comes to art (4 voiceovers I get it) the entire idea of an antiseptic and standardised recording gives me the creeps honestly peace love)

    “Everything is staying very natural” I have to say that it is the opposite. No human voice sounds like this, we all have resonances in the voice. Same goes with the guitars. These types of plugins are great but are destroying the “artifacts” that make music interesting.

    • @mixdownonline
      @mixdownonline  Год назад +1

      I think what makes music interesting is the music itself, a good song, good arrangements, etc...everything else are tools to make it sound better for a better experience to the listener, and my job as a mixer is to make that happen. Let's face it, no human voice sound compressed, EQ'd, and with Delay/Reverb either ;-)
