This 1955 Chevrolet pickup rouses within me a sentimental longing for the past . If it weren't for you, Scottie, many of us would not have the opportunity to see and enjoy the wide range of high quality vehicles that your videos afford us. Thank you, brother!
I grew up with my Dad's 55 step sides. He had it forever. Very good equipment yet I have never been a fan of all numbers matching. I dont live in a museum..Lols..very detailed work, art really. Yea a master work of art, with many "sculpters"..thanx again Scottie..and to the guys who built it.
Sounds like a farm truck sure is nice piece hot rods are cool sentimental original has a whole different level of class speaking of respect to its original condition. Cool thanks bro
I agree...I like the street rods...but I am glad that not everyone does that...we need to remember what they looked like from the factory....thanks for cking it out Brother!
Before this truck was ever restored I pulled the engine that was in it and replaced it with an original like the one that in it now. Late 90s early 2000... The owner is a good friend of mine.
Scottie, love that 55' Chevy, beautiful truck. Thanks to MBV for telling me about your channel. I look forward to your video every day , and they don't disappoint. My 95' Chevy should look that good, LMAO. Thanks for the great videos and take care brother.
Cool...you can buy one done cheaper than redoing one your self...the history of this truck is why the own was willing to spend the money...I don't know the market on 55 Chevy picks ups.....but my guess is around 20k....of course this one wins shows...so it won't be as documented as this one....but that should not matter to a 22yr old that is going to drive it....glad you enjoyed the video...I appreciate your support of my channel!!
I actually replaced the engine in this truck. The original engine was a 216 i think and had a rod knocking , I found a 235 or a 292 , 6 cylinder, really caint remember whitch " that i pulled out of a dual wheel 54 Chevy flatbed . I use to work for Randy's dad back in the late 90s ... I remember the truck and the story that goes along with it . Ronnie Sellers.
Absolutely stunning. Great, great job. I wish more old Chevy trucks were brought back to stock like this one, instead of bastardized chopped and dropped rat-rod ugliness.
Wow!! This is what my 22 year old daughter wants! Ha-can't wait to show this video to her- how much money was put into this restoration?? Oh and thanks, I'm subscribing!
lol..been awhile since I have heard that...I have done a couple the last one was posted 05/17/2012....but I did one when I installed the new rotors..and when I installed the carbon fiber mirror covers....ck them out when you have time
1955 was the first year for a V-8 in Chevy pickups it was a 265 cubic inch same size as their cars. Ford offered a V-8 in 1954 so Chevy needed one to compete with it. My 1957 Chevy pickup was the first year for their 283 cubic inch, the six had plenty of power as long as you did not need to tow heavy loads at highway speeds. Chevy had some of the best 6 & V-8's engines - power wise - offered back. I don't recall a straight 8 being offered by Chevy or Ford they were outdated by 1954 on up. Cheers
My dad had a Series 2 1955 Pick Up, 235 straight 6, 4 speed Hydramatic, big window(I believe it was called a "camper special" for better visibility when a camper was installed in the bed). bought it in 1968(when I was 3) and sold after I burnt the cylinder head gasket in 1988 for $250. :(
Well done Now I'm no expert but wasn't there a option pkg called Cameo on those 50s Chevys I wonder if they paint the roof white to help keep it cool Because I just saw it on a TV car show that a school bus company has switched from the all yellow bus to now having a white roof to help them from getting so hot
Hi, This is Grant with Cleveland Collision Center. We are doing a restoration identical to your 55' Chevy Truck. Where did you find the paint codes for the Gypsy Red and the India Ivory? We can't find it due to our paint station being for late model cars. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Grant
I have a 55, 3100 and it has a different hood than yours but I also have a 56, 3100 that is the same as this one. What determined the different hood style ? Or is it not the original hood that came with it. It has the two raised ribs.
Ok minor little detail that's been bothering me. Was the step in the door originally painted that light Marble Gray color or the darker Charcoal Grey that's used on this particular truck? I've seen it done both ways, but I'd expect it to be Marble Gray just because that'd be much easier to do it all one color on the assembly line. I'm working on a '56 Truck of my own and I'm wanted to know if anybody knows what it was originally.
+Buzz Leyes, this is Randy, the truck owner and the steps are metal as original but painted grey, the same as the steering column and dash. The way Larry "3-toned" the step with the Gypsy Red and the India Ivory interior was brilliant!
i looked up this vid because i found a really nice one in the parking lot of where i was working today...i love 50s styling...everything has just gotten so generic looking
hey scottieDTV i have a 1959 chevy apache truck longbed stepside with the spare tire on the left side oh the model # is 3204 jw if i sent you the truck to guys would you guys make the truck all factory like the 55 you guys done?
I restored a 55 and a 56 chevy pickup. I'm not a mechanic so I had to farm out the mechanical work. Is there a way to 'learn' how to restore an old truck?
My Granddad's '56 3100 has a starter button on the floor. Was it an option on the pickups to have a key start? Also the truck came with one brake light and no turn signals. Some time after he purchased the truck he had to take it back to the dealership to have a second brake light installed and a turn signal kit. Not sure when, but Mom said that Pennsylvania changed their motor vehicle laws.
+LocomotiveEngineer Key start and turn signals were an option in 55. Also the passenger side mirror and visor were also options. Really cool history was the best part in being involved in the build of this truck
No problem u show off some great work man!!!! If u get a minute check out my 1980 Trans Am, friends of mine helped build me one cool T.A. I think that they did a good job, see what u think?? Thanks and keep filming bud, love those 50's trucks, such cool bodies, mint trucks!!!!!
My dad has one that his dad left him. Problem is the truck is in Mexico and he's in the U.S. Would anyone care to provide me with some options to maybe get the truck delivered over here? Is there such a serves? Any reply would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.

I just shoot the videos....It's not my truck...
in 1955 was there an 8 cylinder variant, like a strait 8?
scottie, i think you should do a video on your mustang!

Just from watching videos.....
The Gilmore Museum offers some classes also....
Nice one !!
lol..thanks Brother!
i like that truck its sweet
if you didn't do the internal engine parts, it sounds good for a truck that is more than half a century old.
Cool!
lo mas hermoso de todo esto es mostrar como hicieron desde cero la restauracion de la camioneta
Right on!

Sir, are you familiar with the rare Napco 4X4 Chevy and GMC trucks of the 1950's?
I'm not...but Larry maybe...
12 volt started in the early 55 which looked just like the 54😜
Cool!
My dad has one that his dad left him. Problem is the truck is in Mexico and he's in the U.S. Would anyone care to provide me with some options to maybe get the truck delivered over here? Is there such a serves? Any reply would be appreciated. Thanks in advanced.
I don't know for sure...but I'm sure it is possible....could just pick it up with a truck and trailer?
