What’s the camera you recommend starting with? and what camera do you have now? Also thank for this cause I really trying to start but don’t know how 😭❤️
@@shakaylathomas5663 Let me help you out!
#1: You can use a 50mm for a full body shot if you can shoot at least 15 feet away from your subject. If you use the 50mm for closer shots (not full body shots) you will be just fine too.
#2 You can use a 85mm in a room where you can move at least 15 feet away the subject but not for full body shots, it's not gonna happen.
#3 You can use the 35mm in a room with tight space where you have less than 15 feet from your subject. With the 35mm it's a little bit easier to get full body shots in these type of situations, but it will always depend on how much space you have between you and your subject.
@@shakaylathomas5663 Oh and btw I have both full frame and crop sensor cameras and even though I prefer the full frame, you can shoot with a crop sensor too and get amazing results.
@@SlayerzXtreme thank you
I have been a full time photographer for 8 years saying this I add that I 100% agree with you on all the benefits on having your own photo studio in your own home. I also wish you also spoke about the realistic downfalls of this as well. When having strangers (clients) enter your home your space , your privacy , you're putting your belongings and home at risk .All of the traffic coming through your home gets to see what you own and potentially you can become a target . Renting a photo studio or owning a photo studio outside of your home allows for you to maintain that privacy of that sacred place you call home while still creating business. Sometimes its worth paying that extra money . This was a great video, thank you for sharing !
You’re absolutely right! I sometimes hate that. Having a different “work” environment has its perks as well. Hopefully I can switch to having my own and renting it out to cover costs of me personally paying for it. I’m really thankful you’re pointing this out!! Thank you.
For me the biggest issue was insurance. When I started out my basic renters insurance wouldn't cover anything that happened to clients while I was engaged in a 'commercial' endeavor. My landlord(while fine with me doing headshots in my apartment) needed me to get pretty high coverage for her protection as well in case a client tripped down the stairs for example. Luckily even $1M in coverage isn't all that expensive. If you own your home, you do have a bit more leeway in choosing between coverage and risk but I'll always advocate for getting the most you can afford.
@@Fatherrdiff get a storage or garage g much cheaper
I’m trying to gain all the knowledge I can and more so I can build my own studio instead of the long search of renting a studio and you helped so much with this knowledge. I just bought my lights and slowly setting up . Thank you so much .
I’m feeling confident about starting my own photography business. I've been either procrastinating or doubting myself. This is much needed and very helpful. thank you for sharing! you are much appreciated.
Hope is going well?
The wall mount for the backdrop is a brilliant idea I never knew about. And it sounds like it could be affordable. Thanks for the suggestion. And fantastic shirt!
Finally! Actual video of someone telling how, what to setup for new studio (at home) Thank you so much! I really appreciate it!
You’re welcome!!
This helped a lot, highly appreciate the advice & I think most ppl in the comments not understanding this is for ppl who are on a budget; everybody can’t afford to keep renting other ppl studios as you’ve stated💯👌🏾
I am going to open up my own Studio. 🎥 I love the camera and the CAMERA Loves me 🐾
The biggest thing for me is getting the correct equipment
This was pretty informative and helpful! Clean quality as well, appreciate you ❤️
Thank you!! I appreciate you as well
Bro I been thinking of doing this for the last year, but now I know I'm going to do it!!! I've spent tooooo much many on studio rental when I have a complete open garage. Thanks for the video.
The pep talk I needed 😂💪🏿 stay blessed
everything is so true, I have client to my house, but once I have my kid, need different place, rent a space in a small warehousec for myself!!! love to be a bachelor. 😭😭😭
I’m not sure this is for everyone, you have some points but like Jay Z said when you want the best of something that is not in your field you source it out and get the best product.
It’s a big difference,
To get it done right you’d have to have the space, gear, experience.
Definitely a great DIY for a photographer starting out.
def "great DIY for a photographer starting out" put poetically
Dope!!! I’m feeling confident about trying to get into photography
I just put my backdrop mounts up. I’m literally so excited!!!!
Thank you!! I love doing outdoor portraits but also live in Alaska (not that crazy cold, but cold enough to not do photography outside...) and have been looking at something like this. Turning a 3br apartment in to a full studio and this will be perfect
You’re welcome! You’re gonna love it.
Thanks so much for being very detailed and honest. Thanks for telling us how much everything cost.
Uranus Gabrielle you’re more than welcome!
Omg!! This was soo helpful.. trying to get started seemed so stressful with soo much out there..but this deff helped thanks a bunch! 😁
Great info! This should help a lot of people. BTW, you can get 10x20' fabric for less than $80 (what you spent on the paper). And smaller dimension fabric can be purchased for even less. Fabric can be washed when necessary and reused far more times than paper. The backdrop system can be purchased for closer to $30 instead of $60.
Can you link the fabric please?
Bought my fabric for $24 off Amazon
Awesome video 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. I was needing a video like this. Everything I thought of, you put it all in this video. Thank you

Bro this is a godsend! Thank you for sharing this. Those pics are awesome too!!!
Thank you. I really appreciate it!
I created the same in my garage. Got tired of the studio being booked on the dates I wanted to shoot. Now I shoot whenever I like.
It’s far more convenient!!
Exactly what I need thank you for this vid n linking everything in the description 🤝
These are all facts!! I just looked out my outbound payments to the studio I shoot at(clients pay for it in their budget) BUT I was thinking like I could honestly afford my own at this point
Exactly! Invest in yourself!
True!! Thank You!! Thanks FOR BEING REAL

Youre right,, I paid a photographer to take pics of my product and it was sooo many bad pics sent to me.. all I was thinking is I gotta get the rest of my equipment and I could have instead of paying him and he cut my time... So I Appreciate the info and the pep talk. 👍

Basically how I’m scrapping along rn 😂 I got super lucky and got hand me down soft boxes and a couple backdrop cloths. I gotta save up for papers though because cloth is a PAIN.
😂 every little bit counts! Having the cloth is nice but you definitely need a steamer to keep wrinkles out.
Thanks bro! Love you man 🔥. God bless you!
Great vid and suggestions. I have the shorter paper rolls at $35, for self portraits/ IG content. Going to check out those lights.

What if you don't want a wall mount?, I want to studio in my living room, but want to put everything away once done. Perhaps something we can get that hangs the paper in a "portable" sense? What have people done in these situations? and still keeping the budget low?
Agree! They have backdrop stands on Amazon
My wife said no hanging and no holes in the wall... So that when the spending started 😂
