Bill was not only a great teacher he was a life coach. He said the better tomorrow will come. I have COPD and the better tomorrow came. I am feeling a lot better and I can play with my grandchildren again. Bill you were the greatest of the great. Rest Peacefully.
Although I have no interest in painting, I watch Bill because of his relaxing attitude towards everything…. Painting, Life, Love, Patience…he’s the man!
Bill was the GOAT.There's nothing quite like watching Bill "take the almighty brush and fire it in there". I have to step in when some nitwit tries to credit Bob Ross with all the talk of "happy little trees". That was Bill's too.
I don't have a great regard for Bill's materials, and he wasn't a great communicator, maybe, like Bob Ross certainly was: but he was SO much better a painter than Bob - he deserves to be remembered as a man who tried to popularize oil painting, even if his accent could be hard to understand, especially if you didn't speak German. I find him easy to understand. I know people love Bob, but compare his paintings with Bill Alexander's, and see what you think.
I remember Mr. Alexander way back in the 60's (before the guy who copied and refined his painting process) I liked his work more than I do/did Ross's. Mr. Alexander's style was rougher than the more smooth Ross style that followed. I prefer the style of Mr. Alexander.
Ross played the soft smooth man of peace, While Bill was more the aggressive, bull by the horns kinda guy. I remember watching him all the time on public television, as a kid in the 70s.
I don't believe anyone has ever said Bill wasnt a great painter. I only heard of him from Bob Ross. I like Bob but have nothing against Bill Alexander. You all need to control your emotions. We all like different things.
I think there are great things to learn from lots of people! We are so blessed to have incredible people who want to share their knowledge and love for art with the world 😊
Bill was and will forever be better than Bob Ross. Bill realized that buildings always have doors and windows. I don't know about everyone else, but I certainly would "Denk it was way off in da distance".
@@darthkek1953 Bob was not a fine-grade artist: even he didn't think he was. He was a lovely man, he was a great presenter, but honestly - he couldn't paint to help himself. Bill Alexander could - I don't say he was the greatest painter in the world, but he knew what he was doing with his materials and he understood perspective - Bob may have understood it too, but in his hurry to finish, often failed to observe its rules - mind you, in the time they had, that isn't surprising. I wouldn't care, both gentlemen are, sadly, long dead - but the example they left us with is not one to be followed if you're at all serious about painting. If you're not, and just want a cheap and cheerful hobby (NOTHING wrong with that) fine.
WHY WHY WHY in God's name would you FOLLOW a RECIPE....FROM someone else.......and the results are that you paint just like them....GOSH....timid people who lack the sense of LIFE'S ADVENTURE...CONSCIOUSNESS...and INDIVIDUATION

Thank You Mr. ALAXANDER, you are so gentle and kind with teaching us to paint.
So glad to hear you enjoy Bills teaching as much as we do. Happy painting!

Love to watch his paintings. I watched him back in the 80’s. So calming. He taught Bob Ross how to paint. I miss them both. ❤
I loved watching him in 1980 as a teen. Every sunday. I would stay up all night saturday and watch him .
Wow! He explains how to do this and takes his time. If I were to take up painting, I would watch Alexander over Ross any day.
Bill loved to paint and loved to make sure everyone else knew they could too! I’m glad you found the video useful

Beautiful indeed!
Thank you for your kind words. They mean a lot to us!
KING OF OILS! 🙌🏼
I watched Bill Alexander before Bob Ross. Ross learned everything from him.
@@stevendavis1940 well yes bobs first video Bob said Bill taught him. You need to fucking chill.
I would love a movie based on Bill‘s life! We’d need a childhood, wartime, just starting his business breakout, and a later in life era actors.
We sure do! It would be a great story.
Thank you , that’s very helpful

Bill is from Germany. Thanks for asking.
Merci pour votre tuto. J ai fait la traduction en français
Always thought Bob Ross
Was a a cheap knockoff of Bill
Bill was the OG and a true fine-grade artist.

@@RobertJonesWightpaint I said BILL was fine-grade and I stand by what I said.
You thought correctly. Ross was a cheap copy of Alexander.
Bob took all that Bill did and claimed it as his own. I had no respect for him.
