Hopefully you'll be able to pick them up soon! Maybe sacrifice one private lesson with someone in your area and get these instead haha! I promise there's more in them than any private lesson haha!
The beautiful swap between plek and finger picking style at 1:10 is out of this world, you cannot get more stratocaster feeling than this few seconds of music. Uffff blown away, i need a break.
Oh nothing major, just a little bit of reverb, delay, ring modulation, chorus, flanger, some heavy death-fuzz, organ simulation, polyphonic pitch shifting synthesizer, and the blood of a new born goat found deep in the heart the Mountains of Peru. You should get a similar tone with that man.
I just finished learning this on Jamie's lesson. Man what an honor. If you are learning this song or this style of guitar work i HIGHLY suggest recommend and what else word i can use to say to buy his lessons. This guy works hard to make everything LEARNABLE, trust me even if you think its out of your skill range it will help you! I wouldnt really leave these comments but I absolutely love John Mayer, grew up on his guitar style but i never could finish a single song that I really wanted to learn on the guitar without cheating myself with some easy chord progression set up. Thank you Jamie i finally finished a dream song. Side note lessons include all sorts of techniques as well I bought the bundle and even if you know it, it wont hurt you and it will definitely help Jamie make more content.
John Lee i wanted to buy his lesson but my thumb can’t do what JOHN Mayer or Jamie does in these Demos. Does the lesson give other finger styles if the thumb can’t be used.

Not that everyone cares but listening to a spot on cover brings back the greatest memory I have with my hero and best friend! Anyway,,, you brought me back to such a great time by playing that so spot on! Thanks for sharing!!
That must be so nice!! I was born less than a year after this and its honestly my favourite live performance ever. Could only imagine the goosebumps you must've had, and I'm sorry for your loss
I have to say dude that you actually made me cry. This song has a lot of personal importance for me, and for you play it so beautifully was so... amazing. Thank you.

I spent my whole life as a bass player, listening to bass heavy music and just listening to music completely different. I started focusing heavy on acoustic guitar a few years ago and more recently bought a 74 strat I have been putting work in the woodshed. As a result a lot of music I overlooked has come my way, this piece being one of them. One of the best solos I have ever heard. Modern hendrix
This song is legit. I’ve purchased all of Jamie’s lessons and it’s the only place I’ve been able to learn how to truly play this style of music. The customer support is also great. I had an issue with my email last purchase and Jamie responded promptly and got it straightened out. Overall great music and great lesson experience.
Thanks so much for the comment Matt! Really appreciate you taking the time to write this and glad I could help with both the lessons and on the email issue you were having! Hope to speak to you again soon! :)
wholly shomolly ...you are amazing Jamie, you have shown to be in master class - Eric Clapton calls John Mayer a master - you play so perfectly and clean! You are a master!! Thank you so much for makin my heart big with enjoyment watching you!
I have watched this video a countless number of times but I’ve never commented; I can’t tell you how overcome with nostalgia this cover makes me every time, man. John’s LA performance of this song singlehandedly inspired me to pick up and learn guitar back in 8th grade so it holds a special place in my heart haha. Anyway thanks for doing it justice the way it deserves!
I listened to this at least 5 times a day thinking i could never play it like Jamie. I finally bought the lesson, and he is just incredible. Not only super charismatic but the way explains every part is just amazing. Im only just through the intro but I highly recommend his lesson, worth every penny. I will be purchasing more
all the john mayer songs I love are all the ones introduced to me by other guitarists. I could never be bothered to sift through his pop music to find the true rock gems.
The song itself might bring you tears but this rendition of it will leave you bawling. This was my mom’s favorite song to hear us play, so I can’t help but cry when I play it even 14 years later. We’re so damn lucky to have guitars, music, the feelings and the pain that comes through the riffs in harmony just invoke insane amounts of emotion. What a time to be alive
I purchased the course to learn this. Its absolutely fantastic. Even as a beginner, his instructions are easy to follow. It's broken down in a way that anyone can play. I highly recommend to anyone wanting to learn this!
@@heyya4307 So I've definitely continued playing since then. I actually do come back to this course from time to time. It also really helped nail down a lot of licks that Mayer uses and licks that can be applied anywhere. I still try to play every week at least. When I purchased the course I was at a different job and had a lot more time to play (several hours a week) and now that's reduced to 20-30 min/week if that. Hope to play more in the future but still love it and continue to buy gear at least lol. I'll also mention that I have played live, but I am really just a hobbyist and play with friends occasionally but mostly by myself in my house.
I've taken a bunch of online guitar classes and I can say, without hesitation, that Jamie's are the best by miles. If you want to become proficient in this style of playing, buy Jamie's classes - you won't regret it!
John Mayer is a legend. Got to see him live in Stockholm in 2019. Best night of my life. John is a musical genius and truly a great inspiration. Brilliant.
There's something so much more emotional about this without the lyrics... I don't know how to put it in words: I guess that's the point. Thank you Jamie!
Only second time I've visited this channel and I can only repeat my first comment - the man 'GETS IT'. As a John Mayer fan, like so many, one tends to have a critical eye/ear when hearing one's favourite song from the artist being covered. But this is nailing it on another level of impeccable-ness. Perfect. My new teacher is this channel.
The way you play the guitar is amazing, you don't need lyrics because your guitar speaks, it's good to hear that there are other guitarists like this ❤❤

I found this video searching for a good "Slow Dancing" lesson. What struck me at first was the video, the accuracy, and the amazing sound that was coming from the guitar. I clicked into the lesson to find Jamie's website. Like most of you, at first I was totally hesitant to buy a lesson when there are PLENTY of lessons on how to play this song. But, I was still struggling to play the song the way I wanted with the free stuff. Once I got to the site, I was surprised to actually connect with Jamie live on his site (he has a "chat with me" link). I asked several questions which quickly helped me understand this lesson was totally LEGIT!!!. He wasn’t pushing the lesson on me, he wasn’t trying any sleazy marketing tactics, he wasn’t saying ‘this is for everyone’ just to get my money. Plus, I read the lesson description - the lesson comes with extra content like - rig suggestions for any budget, 14 up close videos, a full description of the rig he used to a record the material, a 15 page tutorial that provides legit commentary on the song, of course - tabs (both chords and note for note transcription) and plenty of extra material like how to record your sound on a computer. So I thought... why not??? Well friends.... this is as close you'll ever get to truly understand HOW JM plays this song. AND... to my surprise (mostly due to Jamie's ability to clearly show and communicate what he's doing), ITS LEARNABLE! I'm halfway through the first couple solos and while its no where near Jamie, it sounds and more important feels great! Fantastic work... I've already upgraded my purchase to the entire bundle. No clue when I'll get to the other stuff, but it's content you just can't find online for free. AWESOME STUFF!!!!!

And thank you so so much for taking the time to come on and write this review! :) I'm going to keep making these as long as people keep wanting them! @lambulis, I'm really sorry you can't afford the lessons right now, I wish I could give these away for free, but as anyone who has bought these will tell you - there is a LOT in these courses and they take a lot of time and expense to make so I couldn't afford to do it free... and I want to continue to make them. Hopefully you'll be able to pick them up soon! Maybe sacrifice one private lesson with someone in your area and get these instead haha! I promise there's more in them than any private lesson haha!
Thank you, almighty RUclips algorithm, for bringing me to this channel.
The beautiful swap between plek and finger picking style at 1:10 is out of this world, you cannot get more stratocaster feeling than this few seconds of music. Uffff blown away, i need a break.
Still the best played version on the internet. Well done.
I think the reason why you didn't show your face is that so people wouldn't know that you are John Mayer covering your own song. God damn, dat tone.
hahahaha! I'm sure John Mayer might have something to say about that :-P
Well, then, what do you have to say about this? Hahahahaha!
Jamie Harrison what fx do u have to get this tone
Oh nothing major, just a little bit of reverb, delay, ring modulation, chorus, flanger, some heavy death-fuzz, organ simulation, polyphonic pitch shifting synthesizer, and the blood of a new born goat found deep in the heart the Mountains of Peru. You should get a similar tone with that man.
For a second i thought you were serious lmao
@@needle3434 I've just bought this lesson, I've never even attempted finger style before so for now I'll just skip the intro part and worry about that later. To be fair if I can master the solo at some point in the next 25 years I can die happy and that is just plectrum I think so well with the money in my opinion.
@@adamlitchfield3371 Have you learned it yet?
The amount of feel and passion in that tone and playing is out of this world. Those low E's and A's ringing out under the intro chords are just beautiful
Have you seen pilky27's cover yet?
@@CruelSun69 his right hand technique seems off to me. He play with a lack of dynamic, you can’t hear these sweet transient that a loose wrist achieves
I’ve purchased this and Gravity and it’s some of the best money I’ve spent. Period. This guy is amazing
Not that everyone cares but listening to a spot on cover brings back the greatest memory I have with my hero and best friend! My dad took me to that show when I was 23 years old.. it was the day before his birthday December 8th 2007! He unfortunately passed 3 weeks after that. Anyway,,, you brought me back to such a great time by playing that so spot on! Thanks for sharing!!
That must be so nice!! I was born less than a year after this and its honestly my favourite live performance ever. Could only imagine the goosebumps you must've had, and I'm sorry for your loss
The thing I love most about this solo, is the restraint John showed in recording it. Jamie does just as well capturing that same dynamic. Awesome.
I drown in this sort of music but I can confidently say that this is the best piece of music I've heard in the last decade or so. Literally. Bar none.
I have to say dude that you actually made me cry. This song has a lot of personal importance for me, and for you play it so beautifully was so... amazing. Thank you.
Since 2007 all the way until now I have Not Seen or heard anybody execute what you just did, everything heard on slow dancing in where the light is .you Absolutely Nailed it . You sir are a guitar hero!
I'm finding it hard to believe it isn't John Mayer playing. Technique and tone perfect. Well done sir. Incredible.
it is.......
Im just gonna say it here and now. This is the greatest solo + self recorded backing track guitar piece on the face of the Earth. Period
Not often that guitar playing has made me tear up but man, this really hit that spot for some reason.
wholly shomolly ...you are amazing Jamie, you have shown to be in master class - Eric Clapton calls John Mayer a master - you play so perfectly and clean!
Wow it’s been 3 years and I wonder how is your guitar thing going on
@@heyya4307 So I've definitely continued playing since then.
That fender tone is so beautifull
Miguel Pinilla the guitar itself . I need to know what exact model I’m in love with that model

What might be the pickups of that lovely guitar?
John Mayer is a legend. Got to see him live in Stockholm in 2019. Best night of my life. John is a musical genius and truly a great inspiration. Brilliant.
This cover is an absolute masterpiece.
The way you play the guitar is amazing, you don't need lyrics because your guitar speaks, it's good to hear that there are other guitarists like this ❤❤
This honestly the closest I've ever heard anyone come to the real thing. Usually every tutorial I see sounds off but this one sounds perfect. Thanks a bunch
Chills dude. Wow. THAT TONE! You nailed every single aspect of this 100%
Gavin Barrett anyone knows hoje to get that tone ??? What gear??
@@guilhermemagnani7440 i think he use a "Tone King" amp, and that beautiful Stratocaster most be a 60s or 70s. But I believe that the amp is More important

You aren't kidding. It has a rather unique voice.
Which Strat is that?😍

One of the best version of this song I've ever seen on RUclips. Very passionate playing.
15 seconds in the video and you know how much of a seasoned guitarist he is. Brilliant!
Wow, that's some review Stephane! Thank you so so much for not only the kind words but the level of detail in this review! I think it might also help others decide whether the course is for them as well! I'm so glad that I was able to help and I packed as much into these courses as I possibly could to give you everything I know about mastering this style and I'm so glad it came across :) Do you mind if I use parts of your review on my website? :)
Of course not, go ahead and use it!
I rarely ever post comments on RUclips, but as a RUclipsr myself, I needed to tell you how good your channel is. Your video and audio quality are top-notch (not to mention your ability). Definitely going to be purchasing all of your lessons to support you and improve upon my guitar skills. I'm a huge JM / SRV fan and I'm looking forward to using your tutorials to learn this style! Keep up the great work, Jamie!

The main riff of this song is one of my favorites ever. You take that solo to a whole other planet. Bravo, dude!
Your performance of this song has actually changed my wife's depression to joy! Whatever you doing here keep it up because your playing is bringing healing! Bless you for doing this because there is little that can transform her darkness to light like your playing! Thank you so much!!
Saw this guy busk in Dublin and can honestly say his guitar playing is just half his talent...Undoubtedly the best guitar cover of this song on RUclips. Keep it up brother
I kept listening to this wonderful version, and now the course is the Christmas gift from my girlfriend, I am so pleased and happy to try & learn, improve, and just enjoy the music. @@poultrycheeseboy Well I learned a lot and I still am. This lesson is worth it, I really mean it :)
That song is one of my absolute favorites and I hold covers of it to a very high standard. You completely crushed it. Ive seen a thousand covers of that song on RUclips and that was hands down the best. Nailed the true feel of that song, which is the most difficult part.
You HAVE to do a lesson on that one!
100% - the feels is there. So - John would be proud.

Great lesson and guitar instructor! This course and lesson just popped up on my FB feed last week and I was blown away by his sound and the level of his playing, so I just purchased this song from the course to start and I'm loving it! Hi Jamie,
Just wanted to say many thanks for the swift reply and fix with my course material!!
I have to say I think your guitar playing & teaching material is fantastic but I think what stands you apart is you genuine personality, and desire to support and ensure your customers have a fantastic experience. Most people want to make money and do it for less these days but I can see your more than that, and your honesty as a person shines through in your the way you conduct yourself. Most people/businesses neglect that human touch and don't realise the key to having a strong brand is personality! So kudos to you and your hard work as its much too rare these days to find good people like you.
Many thanks
