    I saw that u said we don’t have to reinstall windows if we do this unless we swap from mbr to gpt but does it swap automatically if I swap from csm to uefi or would u have to do it manually since all I want to do is enable secure boot using uefi

      Switching from CSM to UEFI or vice versa typically doesn't automatically convert your disk partitioning scheme. If you want to enable Secure Boot using UEFI, you should check your current disk partitioning style (MBR or GPT). If it's MBR, you may need to convert it to GPT manually. Tools like MBR2GPT can assist with this, but always ensure you have a backup before making such changes to avoid data loss. After the conversion, you can enable UEFI and Secure Boot in your system settings.

    When I switchfrom CSM to UEFI it no longer sees my m2 ssd as a boot option. Any thoughts?

      Switching from CSM to UEFI or vice versa can sometimes result in changes to the boot options. If your M.2 SSD is no longer detected as a boot option after switching from CSM to UEFI, you can try the following:
      1. Check UEFI Boot Order: Ensure that the M.2 SSD is listed in the UEFI boot order and set as the primary boot device.
      2. Verify UEFI Compatibility: Confirm that your M.2 SSD is UEFI compatible. Some older SSD models may only be recognized under CSM mode.
      3. UEFI Firmware Update: Check for a UEFI firmware update for your motherboard and install it if available.
      4. Disable Secure Boot and Fast Boot: In the UEFI settings, disable Secure Boot and Fast Boot, as they can sometimes interfere with detecting certain boot devices.
      5. Check M.2 Slot Compatibility: Ensure that your M.2 SSD is properly seated in a compatible M.2 slot on your motherboard.
      If the issue persists, consult your motherboard's manual or contact the manufacturer's support for further assistance.

    Why does it say I’m using uefi when I use msinfo32 but it says csm in bios. And I also checked my disk and it says gpt so am I in the clear the change the csm to uefi in my bios without losing my data?

    • @rambotech_
      @rambotech_  10 месяцев назад

      If your system info says UEFI and your disk is GPT, changing from CSM to UEFI in BIOS likely won't affect your data. But always back up before making major changes, just to be safe.

    • @rambotech_

      The option to switch between CSM and UEFI modes in your system's BIOS/UEFI settings might not be available due to various reasons. Some possible explanations include:
      1. **Hardware Limitations:** Older hardware might not support UEFI mode, so the option might not be present.
      2. **BIOS/UEFI Version:** Ensure your system's BIOS/UEFI firmware is updated to the latest version. Sometimes, older versions might lack certain features.
      3. **Secure Boot:** If Secure Boot is enabled, it might restrict changes to boot modes. Try disabling Secure Boot to see if the UEFI option becomes available.
      4. **Legacy Bootable Devices:** If your system has legacy bootable devices (e.g., old hard drives with MBR partitioning), it might not allow UEFI mode. Disconnecting such devices might help.
      5. **Manufacturer Limitations:** Some manufacturers might lock certain BIOS settings for specific models, restricting the user's ability to change modes.
      6. **Default Boot Mode:** If your system is already set to UEFI or CSM, the corresponding option might not be visible as it's the default mode.
      7. **BIOS/UEFI Interface:** Depending on your system, the BIOS/UEFI interface might display options differently. Explore all sections and tabs to ensure you're not missing the option.
      8. **BIOS/UEFI Reset:** If all else fails, you could try resetting your BIOS/UEFI settings to default. However, proceed with caution as this might have other unintended consequences.

    When I turn off CSM, the bios screen does not appear on the next startup

    • @rambotech_
      @rambotech_  2 месяца назад

      That's a great question! CSM (Compatibility Support Module) is a feature that allows booting in Legacy BIOS mode. When you disable CSM, the BIOS screen might not appear on the next startup if your system is set to boot in UEFI mode exclusively.
      To resolve this:
      1. Enter BIOS settings again.
      2. Ensure that the boot mode is set to "UEFI" or "UEFI + Legacy".
      3. Save changes and exit BIOS settings.
      This should allow the BIOS screen to appear on the next startup. If issues persist, consider resetting BIOS to default settings or seeking support from your motherboard manufacturer.

    Whenever I turn on UEFI it disables 64 GB Ram

    • @rambotech_
      @rambotech_  9 месяцев назад

      Switching between UEFI and CSM modes can be done in the BIOS/UEFI settings under the boot options. If enabling UEFI mode is disabling your 64 GB RAM, it might be due to compatibility issues or settings; check for BIOS updates or consult the motherboard manufacturer for guidance.

    Do we need to install windows again

    • @rambotech_
      @rambotech_  Год назад +1

      The short answer is: It depends. If you are only changing the boot mode from CSM to UEFI or vice versa, you do not need to reinstall Windows. However, if you are also changing the partition table from MBR to GPT or vice versa, you will need to reinstall Windows. Enabling or turning on Secure Boot in the BIOS does not require reinstalling Windows.

      To change CSM to UEFI or vice versa without Windows:
      1. Enter BIOS setup (DEL, F2, or F12 during boot)
      2. Go to "Advanced" or "Boot" tab
      3. Enable or disable CSM (Legacy Boot)
      4. Save changes and exit BIOS
      Alternatively, use a BIOS editing tool like Rufus or EasyUEFI on a bootable USB drive.
