Dmitri Shostakovich, 5 Pieces for 2 Violins and Piano 0:01 I Prelude 2:25 II Gavotte 4:00 III Elegy 6:29 IV Waltz 8:26 V Ploka Thank you for the beautiful performance!
This is just too beautiful, if there could ever be such a thing. This music goes straight to the heart. So charming. Fritz Kreisler would be quite pleased!
Yes, I absolutely agree..... These two are not just superb violinists, they are artists in the tradition of Milstein, Heifetz, Elman, Kreisler, Francescatti, Ricci, and a few others now gone.
@@violinhunter2 I agree! The Golden Age of great virtuoso-artists is gone. It's all about show biz now. But these two violinists, are the exception! I am a big fan of Antal Zalai. No gimmicks or pretensions. He's a great, old-school violinist.
Telepathy denotes feeling at a distance thus through meditation grow new brain cells and acquire psychic ability. Shostakovich composer and your ensemble playing transcendent.
Ensemble of Shostakovich compliment one another and elevate the performance to highest musical peak akin to the Lullingstone Mosaic Collection Romanesque in Kent England.
Typically, it’s frowned upon to do that. But sometimes when audiences love the performances that much they clap anyway. So I believe I was told once. I could be completely wrong
I believe clapping between movements only came in in the 20th Century. Guess you could say it’s an historically informed performance from an audience point of view (but my guess is there’re just enjoying themselves!). Personally I like it but one thing I draw a line at is when you perform to school kids and they start clapping in the rests - drives me nuts!
Readily available from Sheet Music Plus on the web. US$ 33.00 Fun to play... I've done it several times. There is a very similar three pieces...get the 5 pieces!

Thank you for the beautiful performance!
Shostakovich could compose flawlessly in many different styles, and it is always Shostakovich. The performance of those Duets is very beautiful.
Shostakovich is one of my favourites. I love everything i've heard written by him.
I love the fact that Antal is playing II. Violin. He is like David Oistrakh!
Like a true gentleman , but I believe he is.

Cannot be more beautiful than this !!!!
Amo Shostakovich ☺
This is beauty , wonderful composition and lovely playing .
I never thought Shostakovich wrote romantic pieces assuming he only wrote 20th century dissonance works.
What a fabulous composer.
I was about to say the same thing
とてもいい演奏ですね!
So lovely ❤️ !

C’est trop beau!!!
Gorgeous playing, exquisite tone! This is by far the most beautiful performance of these wonderful Shostakovich pieces on youtube.

бесподобно
Reminisce about earthy exotic ethnomusicologist remembering Bela Bartok string symphonies folk music performed at age eleven on the piano.
Love this! where I can buy the score?
