Happy Hounding! 🪨✨ - Развлечения
Ariel, I laughed so hard when I saw this video. I'm a recent subscriber so I'm watching older videos. I laughed because there is an area near my house where I look for rocks. It's also an area where people walk, jog, bike. When I'm out walking, everyone that passes by will say hello or nod hello. If I'm looking for rocks, it's like I have the plague. They don't make eye contact, they don't speak. 😂. It *IS* embarrassing sometimes to engage in this hobby! 🤣. Thank you for the videos. You've been a lot of help to me so far!
Haha glad I’m not the only one! 🤣 I definitely have had my fair share of strange looks! 🤣
Love this video. I do the same thing. As others have said, embrace the weirdness. I had a state trooper come check on me once like “uuuh you ok bud?” I was like “yes I am, thanks. Here, have a crinoid fossil!”
Haha that’s awesome! Totally gotta embrace it! 😎
Hahaha that’s awesome! My oldest son gave me the “fever” several years ago when I went to visit him in AZ! I live in NC so I’m always on the side of the road or traipsing through the swamp to get to a location, it’s only a matter of time before it happens to me….now ik how to answer lol 😂!
The thing's we do for rocks 🤣
I've been seen carrying a rock so big I had to set it down every 10 15 ft or so till I finally got it to the car, had a audience for that one too😂
also please be careful out rockhounding by yourself, I've ran into some scary characters when out rockhounding.
Loved the video Ariel, thanks for sharing ❤
Haha I’ve been there before! Sometimes you just can’t pass up the good ones! 🙌 Yes I always make sure to stay aware and carry some self defense items! Definitely important to stay safe! 😊
I do believe those red crystals were garnets, some of the rocks brought down by the glaciers have them. In addition you can find them in the bedrock along the Minnesota river out to the west. The ones in glacial stones are usually really fractured, but ones sourced along the Minnesota river can ocasionly be gemmy if lucky. No idea on that last red one, it's pretty
Oh wow-I did not know that!! That is super cool and definitely something I will have to keep an eye out for during future hunts! 🙌😊
I think the red one she found has garnet in it as well.. people are finding them in the river and creek beds in Minnesota quite often
I live in Minnesota too. I absolutely know how you feel when cars pass by, so embarrassing! 😅 Especially when they stop and ask if you need help! The look the people give sometimes! 😂 Anyhow, love your videos! 😊
Haha 100%! 🤣
Definitely thinking feldspar. Really gemmy feldspar. Here’s an idea. Put on a cheap Hi Vis vest. Kinda makes you look more “official”. Maybe a hard hat as well? Just kind of makes you look like you’re there for a purpose (besides collecting cool rocks lol). Then those weird looks just melt away…
Agreed! Definitely leaning toward feldspar! Also the vest and hat are not a bad idea 🤣
My daughter doesn't like when I get out to look at rocks under trees and dirt patches when we are out. Glad I am so old I don't care what people think anymore. Occasionally she will bring me a rock she sees on the ground and thinks is pretty. Even keeps her favorites. So glad to have found you here on RUclips.
Omg. I love this video! I live in the twin cities and am always looking at rocks. I’m definitely embarrassed…. But, that’s what we do for cool rocks! Thanks for posting- you’re hilarious!
Exactly! Gotta do what you gotta do for the good rocks! 🙌
Don't know how I missed this video last year but I've done this and have life hacks to help everyone. I had the police called on me when I was on a remote dirt road. Someone thought I was drunk lol. The cop told me to get a couple cones and a reflective vest so I looked like I belonged there. So I did, it's amazing what happens when people think you are in an area in an official manner lol.
Don't feel embarrassed. Half the cars that went by probably guessed you were looking for dusty gems, and the other half probably never felt the joy of unearthing one.
That’s a very good point! 🙌 I like to think that even if they do think it’s strange they only think that for a moment then their mind fills with other thoughts 🤔
The little red stone you took home with you is most likely red granite. Yes red granite. Its not that common in some areas but having grown up in the southwest and spent lots of time in the deserts of California and Arizona I have seen just about every color granite there is. I highly doubt that it could be polished but it will be a great rock to add to your collection.
Oh good to know! You might be right!
Out in the sun nice day nothing to be embarrassed about looking for rocks be careful out there enjoyed video thanks for taking us with you
Thanks for being so brave. Your Killin it. lol
Thank you so much!!
Great fun video. You never know what you might find. Hope you get to the rivers when they recede. Thanks for posting.
Agreed! I was a little bummed but that just means more adventures for next time! 😊
At home we have a gravel pat and it suprises me that i can find agates at home and i had found fossils to. great video
Oh that is so cool! I would love having a gravel pit so close!
@@AgateAriel :)
Good luck on your rock hounding adventures. In from Colorado and we usually go up the Rockies or to Wyoming.
Oh that’s awesome! I would love to go rockhounding there!
Awesome stuff!! Love random rock piles!! You should talk to the farmer.. he would be happy to have you help "pick rocks"😀 lol😁
Haha I have definitely thought about that!! I’m sure they would love it! 🤣
I am in Minnesota! I am off of work for the summer, and I am planning on going rock hunting. My grandfather started me on my love for rocks.
Oh that is awesome-it is such a fun and rewarding hobby! 😊
That red/pinkish one might be sunstone. Not sure if you have sunstone there but it's frequently found around or with mica. Just a possibility.✌️🤠
Oh good guess! That very well could be! 😊
I look at rock piles too, you never know what you will find.😊
Exactly!
A lot of my finds are on the side of the road and I feel the same until I find my first piece of something great video
That is so true-and thank you!
@@AgateAriel your very welcome
Cool, hanging out by the roadside. Been there and has been successful .
That’s awesome to hear!
Ariel, you would make such a great TV presenter 👍👍👍
I definitely understand the feeling of people might think your silly for picking up rocks in weird places. I enjoy the heck out of random rocks. And now I work in a gravel pit and customers look at me weird in the middle of a sentence and pick up a random rock and say* jeez this is a pretty one!" Do what love! Life is more fun this way.
Oh that is so awesome-I am totally jealous! I have thought about asking if I can look through gravel pits rocks before, I’ve heard there can be some really good ones!!
@@AgateAriel there are plenty of cool rocks to hound for. I only have 2 problems when I do this. 1) I have so many rocks I don't know what to do with and have 3 tumblers that never stop running, because of the quantity I have. 2) sometimes they just do unique from all the other rocks I see everyday. But they just to big for my tumblers like I see you every one who hound for sometimes. But it's still fun to walk around and see everything!
I've found lots of crystals,on the side of the road, next to some cliffs, and the crystals is amazing, and I also found thousands of fossils too
Oh that is so awesome-rockhounding is great hobby!!
Cool video, cool rock? Reddish? Alien,.. just kidding,I think Feldspar, too. Single refraction? But, I'd act like I was doing an art project, too. And,wear some gloves, and, bug protection, please 🙏.Stack some rocks, for the Sasquatch. Peace.
Agreed-feldspar is definitely what I am leaning toward! Sometimes I wear rocks if the rocks are really gross but yeah I do need to get better at wearing them more often!
Really fun video.
Thank you! 😊
In Florida, if we went to a rock pile like that, we would find venomous coral snakes and rattlesnakes. yikes.
We can go to the river here which has lots of fossils and sharks teeth. So I think I’ll try to find some fossilized coral in the riverbeds on the side that I can maybe chisel out. Even though we have alligators in our rivers, we can see them coming. 🐊👀
I do rockhounding for 5 years , and still feel embarressed when i see a car or people aproach me and ask what you doing with the rocks 😅 , anyway i still love rockhounding i already made a big pile in the yard with agates and petrified wood . Keep doing video i enjoy to see others rockhounding
Right! It’s a great hobby but can become interesting when people wonder what you’re doing 😂 So jealous of your agate and petrified wood! I want to do that one day too!
THAT ONE PIECE WAS NATIVE AMERICAN ARTIFACT
Which one?!?
Never be embaressed doing what you love. As long as you are not breaking any laws, or hurting anyone, go for it!
Totally agree! Thanks for the support! 😊
Just some R&R, haha, don't be embarrassed embrace it!
Haha definitely working on it! 🤣🙈
@@AgateAriel if you put a tin foil had on while you do it no one will ask you any questions:)
Could that rock be an iron stained quartz?
Are you a geologist?
I’m not! I’d consider myself an amateur geologist if anything! 😊
Do you have any kids???
Always enjoy 'day in the life' videos of rockhounding, regardless of what you find. Good days and not so good days, but it's all instructional. Thanks!🪨
Thank you! Yes not all days will be great but it’s the adventure that matters! 😊
