- Discover the beauty inside these gemstones that I cut open on my lapidary slab slaw! Today, we’re diving deep into the glitzy world of my precious agate collection. But hold onto your butts, because we're not just admiring them from the outside; we’re slicing these bad boys open with a lapidary saw to see what kind of sparkly secrets they’ve been keeping from us. It’s like performing surgery, but instead of a scalpel, we’re using something that could easily cut a finger off. Kidding of course--safety first, kids!
In this absolutely riveting episode of “What’s inside my rock collection,” we’re going on a journey filled with suspense, surprise, and maybe a sprinkle of rock dust. Have you ever seen someone so excited to potentially ruin a very expensive piece of nature? No? Well, you’re about to.
So, if you’re as obsessed with shiny things as a magpie at a jewelry store, or if you just want to see if I manage to keep all my fingers by the end of this video, smash that subscribe button and give this video a thumbs up! Not only will you get to join our weird and wonderful family, but you’ll also get notified every time I decide to do some cool stuff with rocks. It’s a win-win!
Drop a comment down below if you’ve ever wondered what’s inside an agate, or if you just want to suggest what I should cut open next!

Happy Hounding!
Don't apologize for getting excited about them, I am not even there with you and I get excited also. I really love the way you talk to us like we are really there with you. Sometimes I get impatient for you to open them up and see what is in them. I hope that you keep making videos, because I really love watching you cut them open
😍
Haha thank you so much! I hear ya with the impatience! I like to savor the moment because even though the timelapses are a few seconds actually cutting the rocks takes several minutes so it’s like a little reward when I finally get to open them!
Small broke pieces just means happy little accidents made for tumbling into real beauties. Love how these turned out and can't wait for some more cuts on the other pieces!
my great grandma had a rock collection. Rocks from all over the world. Even cut ones like these. If only I could have gotten her collection after she passed. She would have loved your channel. Back then, RUclips and social media didn't really exist as it does today.
Start your own collection!! Research what gemstones can be found in your area and get to rock hounding!! Its also fun to look for NA artifacts and fossils
You don't sound cring AT ALL! You sound like someone who is very exited by a beautiful passion ❤
Tks for sharing
Thank you so much! Haha I just get so excited!
😢@@AgateArielju
@@AgateAriel We share your excitement! ;)
I know virtually nothing about rock tumbling, but at 12:54 I wondered if those two broken pieces could be tumbled and maybe made into jewelry, or would they just shatter? That persimmon color is very pretty.
Yes! That is the plan for those two!!
You are not cringey! I LOVE how excited you get when you open the rocks you cut! It makes it so much more fun!
I disagree
I love your excitement! Just keep on being you and having so much fun Ariel! Thank you for sharing your rock cutting adventure with us.
Of course! Thank you for watching!
I feel silly for watching these but i can’t stop 😂
same, never thought id be interested so much to see stones getting cut in half-
No need to feel silly. Just feel fortunate.
Same lol
Very cool !! Your video popped out at me so i thought i would give it a look. Thank you so much for sharing. You have a great speaking voice, really positives vibes from your excitement . This video really lifted me up as life has recently beat me down. The beauty in your agates is second to none. God bless you. You Rock ! Literally ! 🙏
Wow thank you so much for the compliment!!

😂
Ha fr I have too many 😅
AND that WON’T make you fat!
(Even your wallet will be lighter!) 😂
Mmmmm 🤤 rocks
lol ikr gem of a comment
I find myself rooting for the rocks, like you cut one up and before you see if it’s interesting I’m like „you got it little guy!”. Then if you don’t like it I go „oooh that’s okay little fella”
I love to hear you being excited. It's not cringe, it's awesome. This was a beautiful journey, thank you for sharing ❤
I get the biggest giggle out of your excitement for the rocks!
You are one of the only rockhounding people I follow, I know nothing about rocks and that but I love your videos because you're as excited as I would be about the things you find (including what you find when you cut them)! I think you did a great job ❤
Nice to see someone happy these days ❤
I just found Ariel and I enjoy her as much as Agate Dad. They share the same level of excitement.😀
Malawi agates are so colorful and beautiful! Love them! 😊
Right!! I can’t wait to cut more open!
As a woodworker, watching you use a saw just gives me the willies.
Lapidary saws are more like grinding wheels. They're not sharp like woodworking saws!
As much as I love the rocks, your reactions are the best part of the video! Keep being you. 😊
Thank you so much!
In the rock give-away, you asked about the sound proofing set-up. What I have done is used safety pins. I also tried to use stick pins, but they are more difficult to push through the foam and paper. Also, Iwould like to add, I Love your content. Keep them coming! I enjoy the excitement you show!
I think you cut all of them the best way possible, in my no experience with Malawi agate opinion. The second one, the nice orange/yellow one, is a keeper. I love🧡💛 that one. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you! It was such a fun time!
You talked about wanting to display when you cut the agate into three. As a mineral rock collector I am always looking for display ideas. Think it would be interesting to viewers to see how other collectors display their collections. Would make a good video.
Oh that is a great idea!
You're totally not cringey when you open these I would jump in the air if I'd open that 😂😂 also I found you randomly and I love to collect minerals so this is perfect ❤
The second one - oh my gosh - I actually gasped! I had to stop there and rewatch it a couple times. On to the rest of the video!❤😊
Right! That one blew me away!!
Everyone who loves minerals understands your excitement.
I enjoy your northern/ northern midwest accent when you say agates. The captions even matches with eggots. 😊
I love all of them, even the broken pieces were amazing
The broken pieces give a really cool corner look into the agate! It makes a really cool look without making extra cuts. 😊
That’s a really good point!
The second one (your favorite one) is definitely the one I love the most too! The contrast between the bright orange and the white/almost clear in the middle is stunning!
I totally agree!
Don't want to sound too weird, but I always feel bad when I say that a rock wasn't up to par. I've started saying underwhelming. Once they get into my wife's shop though, there is a stone for everyone. Great job, this was not a waste of money or time. That one orange one looks like metal in the middle, I might be seeing it wrong.
That’s a good way to look at it! Thanks for saying that! 😊
Amazing rocks!!!
I have a collection of semi-precious stones and rocks. I love looking for these gems of nature every place I have ever visited in creek beds and any good place to search.
Cut, cut, cut! Wowza. A beautiful assortment of wonderful agates. The one with the hole, drop it in some iron out to clean up the stain. See y'a next time.😊
Oh great idea!
I think I would take those broken off pieces and process them through in the tumbler. It looks like most of them would turn out to be some pretty little gems.
You have helped me fall in love with rocks . Your a wonderful teacher.
Literally here for the not-cringey excitement when you open the agates.
Some were disappointing, but some were totally awesome!
I LOVE. This channel. Glad I found it (in fact I WISH I found this channel a long time ago) been watching a few of your videos. And I love these videos where you cut the rocks open to see what's inside. What I find interesting is, the ones you're not always excited about... are ALSO great. The ones that look like quarts crystal or clear, even cloudy... those are my fave ones. I love collecting interesting rocks or anything of nature, but don't do it as often as I'd like. And finding really pretty or crystal looking ones are Awesome. 🤗💜
Wow! Those came out fabulous! The colors and patterns were awesome! I even like the one you said was ugly! Lol! Thanks for sharing!❤
Haha I’m so glad you liked them! 😊
I just found your channel. Just watched the one where you bought $280 in rocks. Love your enthusiasm. I don't know anything aboutrocks but they look so cool on the inside. OH, no cring at all, I have the same passion for disc golf and get grief sometimes, lol. Now i'll be looking for rocks on the courses. Keep up the amazing videos.
Shadowbanding, thick perimeter of orange to yellow to green to purple shade gradients, with a quartz center... sorry you feel that's ugly...looks really cool to me, and quite a nice surprise.
Agreed, it was so pretty to me
I thought it was the best one
@7:47 I about fell out of my chair laughing because of your reaction 🤣
Haha it was quite the..uh..interesting agate that’s for sure 🤣
I love the colors in all of these. I love your content.
Thank you so much! 😊
I love your excitement! It's the best part of the video. The little rock at the end is my fav with what you called eyes. I knew the unassumingness was fooling us!
The second to last one ... I'm just going to say... like people you can look at them and think eh... nothing special... but never ever judge a book by its cover alone... you may never know the true beauty of them on the inside... (just don't cut people open to see it!)... Anyway... thought I'd mention that. Too often people look at something and don't see it for what it is... you cut that open and it was spectacular inside even though the outside really didn't give any hint of what was inside.
That’s a really good way to look at it-thank you! 😊
at school we just used a plastic tumbler and no water or aditives at all, and the stones looked shiney as hell.
You are so precious, never stop getting excited about rocks 💜
The second agate has calcite in it. Many Malawi agates have quartz filled in with calcite. They become great druzies if you clear then out with acid. That only works if you can see the quartz layer surrounding the calcite:)
7:48 If you know anyone that carves or paints rocks that right side looks well on it's way to being a little creature head with the big red "eye". I think it's got a lot of potential!
The little guy on the left just looks like a little eepy guy lol
Those agates are beautiful!
Beautiful. But please be careful with ur fingers on that saw luv. 🏴
It looks like silver in the center 3:04
The centre of the orange agate could be calcite? If it is it won’t take as good a polish as the agate will. Hope this helps😊
7:47 a rockface only a mother could love
The tiny dots in agate bands are called platelets, they're concentrations of whatever colored it. Red ones are probably hematite.
Oh wow good to know-you learn something new everyday!
@@AgateAriel I recently got a pound of Malawi agates and I'm really excited to cut them open. One of them is bright orange on the outside!
I love your OKAY!!
Are you related to Agate Dad?
I love the fact that the rocks you cut open are releasing gases that haven’t touched the atmosphere for millions of years.
😮
The scream I scrumpt when I saw you uploaded another video!!!!!
Someone uploaded a pre-taped vid?
Ps: I'm a 4th cousin.
Ahh you’re the best! 😊
I sent a screen shot to my daughter... said I feel like I've slipped into an alt reality.
They were beautiful!
Agreed!!
Love your channel first of all. ❤ I do have a small suggestion tho, maybe try cutting them perpendicular to the banding lines and then you will have more defined banding show up & less shadow banding, if you enjoy seeing more banding. If you prefer the shadows more then keep at sista! 🎉 *only sharing b/c I learned this the hard way after ruining a few pretty ones:)
Absolutely beautiful suprises in those.
know nothing about agates nor do I collect rocks (yet) but your videos are so interesting to watch 😊
The second one looks amazing, it's like a little silver crown
❤❤❤ very good my friend
nice work. My favorite is the orange and yellow agate. Good luck on your rock hounding
that orange one is stunning. make a pindent out of that one
The center slab of the first tri-cut rock looks like a portrait of a renaissance woman. Seriously, look at it again, way cool!
A thin slice of the orange one would make pretty earrings.
I just cut around 12 lbs of mixed agate, Botswana, desert, and north shore....i still get excited about each stone... The breaking is because of faults in the stone..cracks if you will. If they are cracked in one direction its best to cut along the same path, if in multiple directions its best to break with hammer and tumble.
Beautiful 🤩 ❤ thank you ☺️
Why am I here? WHY CAN'T I STOP WATCHING?
Thank you for your efforts!!!
I kinda like the "ugly" one. It looks like bullseye candy!
11:14 The one on the right looks like a dragon breathing fire!
I love your energy
Awesome cutting session! I don't think you did anything wrong on the last one. It just had that wicked natural crack running through it so it was bound to happen to one of those pieces.
I suppose you are right! Thank you!
The second one that you opened looked like the earths core awesome sauce
I like the kind of pastell watercolor effect on the biggest one
Right! I liked that one too!
It’s like every rock is my new fav!
When i was a little girl we played with marbles. EVERY marble sold at the local "five and dime" (the dollar store of yesteryear) - was AGATE.
NOW marbles are all made out of glass.
I wish i still had all those gorgeous marbles....I still don't know how to play a game of "marbles" because i was just too busy admiring the beauty of each specimen.
I've watched several of your videos now and every time you said agates I thought you were saying eggets, and I automatically assumed it's some kind of a slang for stones that look like small eggs or something.
Only now, thanks to the provided captions at the beginning of this video, I realized eggets are agates... or "acháty" in my own language, Czech 😂
Agate Ariel opening up an agate she doesn't love:
"OOOOkaAaAAaaaYyY!"
You did a video a while back where you polished some aquarium pebbles... You should try using them as actual tumbling media to fill the voids in the barrel... You'll keep texture in a lot of rocks, and they'll polish up nicely... Just my opinion... I enjoy leaving texture in a rock or crystal and polishing them up.... 3:13
They are all beautiful in their own right
Calcite i believe is the centre inside that orange banded one a few drops of HCL and it will bubble away revealing the beautiful cave the calcite infilled
The ones you were sad about breaking you could just make another cut to flatten the face where it broke and see the cross sectioned banding or what I've been doing is carving pieces into heart pendants which has yielded fantastic results
rocks are like a box of chocolates, you never know what your gonna get.
The jelly orange may be fire agate!
Enjoy your enthusiasm and joyous excitement the most great video thanks for the invite
Beautiful rocks. I love your enthusiasm.
Is that a tile saw or an actual rock saw?
Looks like an actual lapidary rock saw. Tile saws apparently do wrk tho there just way more messy
It’s a 10” slab saw from hi tech diamond! So a rock saw 😊
I would love the little broken bits that you don’t like.!❤
Very nice!!
Thank you!
Looking forward to your thoughts on the rock-tumbling news about Lortone shutting down.
Whhhhattt how am I just finding out now 😫 that’s awful!
the second one I actually yelled bingo. Wow!
Right!!! I loved that one!!
The 3rd looked like a face. Eyes and a smile
You get so excited 😊
Yeah there ok . I find pretty nice ones close to home. Lots of reds mostly moss and plumes
I can’t believe you don’t have some kind of thumb guards on.
It’s a grinding blade! You can touch it (quickly) and not get hurt 😊
i was freaking out
At 11:23 its Beerus from DBZ on the right...
You scare me on that saw.
😮
That was really fun. What type of fluid are you cutting with? How do you like your saw? I am starting out again after quite a while away (USAF). Keep doing such a good job, we appreciate it. P.S. We all love your enthusiasm.
That's a 10 inch saw so its likely that she's using water
@@jameshurley224 That is what I was thinking as well, but the liquid looked too viscus.
#1 has gold in it as well❤
All 💎's to me
I’m glad you like them! 😊
Those are beautiful. But I don’t like the price tag on some of them. Great job❤❤❤
