It still looks too dark to me. The way everyone has their view setup is top half looking out of the window and bottom half viewing the instrument panel. Honestly I don't care that its realistic or not, at the end of the day nobody wants to look a big black void where their instrument panel should be, it just looks terrible and is not nice to look at. And this bug has been present for almost 2 years now. I'm sure they are happy that their light model is realistic but at the end of the day it's not nice for the end user.
@@klzeccwozi1290 some time ago I purchased visualXP ultimate and was able to decrease some of the darkness. I figure that the lighting was similar to a photograph camera and a camera catches about 3 or exposures while the eye can make about 9 different ones. Sometimes I will turn on a cabin light but often cabin lights are too dim. I like using the hat switch to look around and use the mouse to flip switches instead of the keyboard.
I do use both sims. Mostly Msfs. I use Xplane for Zibo and airfoil 172. Msfs for pmdg 737-800, Fenix and FBW, A2A. I’m just saying they beat them to get a radar implemented finally.
Finally. X-Plane 12 was the first Version I ever used. For roughly a Month. It still feels like a waste of Money because everything is running single-threaded and leaving Performance on the Table. Using more than 1 CPU Core / Thread after "only" being roughly 20 years late to the Party - maybe I will try X-Plane 12 again after it has been finally implemented. Better late than never I guess...
Sit in cockpit, switch to free camera pilots pov. They are different…. But rendering the same scene. If they use that camera view for the cockpit view… it works.
I'm sure you mean the depth of field effect. And yes, I kind of agree with you. BUT: if you fixate on a point, e.g. the cockpit of an aircraft in the outside view, the surroundings automatically blur. This effect now here in X-Plane 12 only reinforces this, it supports the eye, so to speak.
@@christophfeldhaus9538 They're talking about dynamic range. Right now, X-Plane simulates a camera with a low dynamic range, i.e. it can only see a limited range of brightnesses - scenes can have parts that are too dark and too bright. This is actually how our eyes see, except each cell (pixel) of our retinas (our image sensors) can individually change their sensitivity with feedback from the processing our brain does. This allows for a much higher perceived dynamic range, and is what X-Plane's anti-dark-cockpit update tries to emulate.
There's plenty of room to task this i7-12700 CPU more. The RTX 3050 Ti does well with the beta. I was under the impression back around X-Plane 9/10 that dds instead of png format for liveries/textures is better for the GPU, especially if it doesn't have a lot of VRAM. Is that correct?
I mention it as I notice some v12 models sporting png liveries, and my automatic response is to run those through the little XGrinder app, so I hope I'm not wasting effort there. LOL
Oohh, one other thing. The Nvidia App, even though it is still technically in beta, I think it does actually manage the potential of the RTX card better than the old Nvidia Control Panel did, as in the sim runs more smoothly overall.

The CEO from FlyShirley desperately needs a presentation skills coach. Cool sounding product somewhat let down by his need to read every single word off of post-it notes with essentially flat emotion.
@@nilsschutte9380 Yes and no. Yes, we read the checklist, but the generally accepted best practice these days is to memorise the flow and then validate it with the checklist. Reason being: the checklist mitigates errors in memory, and your memory mitigates errors in reading whilst under pressure. Thus, doing both yields the safest result. Now, on the most modern aircraft, they can actually sense the state of some of the checklist items and tick them off for you, but I don't fly one of those.
Luckily Shirley had their part rehearsed ;-) I'll also say that our company has only been around since March, and as a CEO/CTO I worked my butt off to provide as much value to customers, splitting the responsibility between showmanship and development. When you try the product, I think you'll agree I made the right call. Next year I plan to have time to memorize the talk. Thanks for learning about our story either way!

I would NOT recommend rote memorisation as an approach.
