- From Season 12 of Walt Disney's Disneyland Anthology program we have Episode 24: Concho, The Coyote Who Wasn't which originally aired on April 10th, 1966. Concho, a coyote pup, narrowly escapes a group of bounty hunters and is rescued by Delgado, an old Navajo. The Indian takes him home and nurses him back to health, and Concho is soon roaming the reservation in search of adventure. On one of his forays he meets a band of wild pigs, which he takes back to Delgado's for a handout. The pigs return his hospitality by wrecking the place, and the Indian turns Concho outside to fend for himself. Starring Delgado as himself. Narrated by Rex Allen.

Before Disnery went off the rail. Great movie
Thank you for sharing
God bless
What an awesome movie, I loved the real walts movies.😊
I just finished this one yesterday! Terrific film!!!!
What a sweet precious coyote 💕🐺 the Navajo will take care of him and love him
They sure did!! What a heartwarming story! I love programs like this!
This is one of my all-time favorites I love this story it reminds me of my childhood my grandfather and uncle had a horse and cattle farm and one time when I was about 6 yrs old my grandfather walked into the house with a puppy that looks just like a coyote he told us that he found it out in one of the fields by itself crying for his mother but he couldn't find it its mother so we took him in and bottle fed him turned out to be one of the finest dogs to have on the farm there ever was he named the dog concho after concho in this movie Gramps always said that this was a full-blooded coyote but I don't think so I think he was more of a koi dog a half domesticated dog and half coyote he looks just like a coyote but he didn't act like a coyote at all there was no baying at the Moon we had him around cats and small animals and he never went after anything my grandfather trained him be a watchdog cattle dog and he did that for years and years
I have great memories of watching these Disney movies with my parents when I was a kid and the narrators voice was always so comforting. I miss those days so much.
That's the voice of Rex Allen. Even though I wasn't around when these first aired, I too, have found a lot of comfort in his voice. He embodies classic Disney programming and simpler times. I'm an 80s kid, but I think we both share the longing for days past. I'm glad these programs provide some comfort and joy for you!!!
Can we all agree it was one man - I too grew up on Sunday nights with Walt
Ron Miller and Diane Disney kept it on track for another twenty years. But of course Walt set it all up.
I lived for Sunday nights in the sixties and seventies. Walt's genius was recognizing a great story. Many of these episodes, and his cinema films were based on books. This one here, was based on the book Coyote, Come Home. I consider those days, the highpoint of children's literature. I sure did love those nature books as a child
Remember watching this series in Kindergarten in 1969 on reel to reel projector. Uncle Walt. Lasting memories of a view of the world beyond our backyards.
Same as Jeremy. I'm just sitting here watching your channel this evening. This really brings me back to when Disney was great. Thank you.

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Wonder if we would watch 1963's The Incredible Journey, the original Homeward Bound released 30 years prior.
You can watch the 1963 film, The Incredible Journey on Disney+! There was also a dvd release!
Love your channel, thanks so much for this!! Would you happen to have any of Walt's TV Introductions for theatrical movies that would show on the anthology (Treasure Island, Robin Hood, so on and so forth)? Or any MMC episodes that promoted upcoming films (Westward Ho, Light in the Forest, etc)? Thanks!!! Keep up the good work!
After I finish Season 13 I'm going to go back and post all the Walt lead-ins from the episodes that would've otherwise have been blocked (animated segments, theatrical features released on TV, etc.) MMC episodes are hard to come by...maybe someday I'll get those!
@@keepingwaltindisney sounds good!!! How ever do you come across so many?!
@@travismullins6097 I have a dear friend whose collected these episodes over a lifetime and asked that I upload what I am able. He’s truly a saint!!!
This is my cousin’s grandpa!
Wow!!! How cool!!
Are you referring to Delgado, the Navajo sheepherder?
@@keepingwaltindisney Yes I am. His grandson is my cousin.
@@wiseaudra So neat!!! Does the family still have his super cool sombrero he wears at the end? What a great job he did!
Awsome

How about The Nashville Coyote?
That’s season 19! I’ll get there. Just started 14 yesterday!
Better team of to grow up with Walt & Rex & Jaques Cousteau , Marlin Perkins & Jim Fowler , Marty Stouffer . ! . ! .
i'm trying to figure out the location here. Anyone know where this was filmed? I sure like this kind of film. Thanks for sharing.
Rex Allen mentioned Red Rock country and the Navajo people are who we see, so I’m inclined to think parts of Arizona southwest of Sedona.

After a little digging this took place near the Wutapki National Monument northeast of Flagstaff along the Little Colorado river. The waterfall you see when Concho and the sheep are drinking the muddy water is a dam on the river!
Keep walt Disney alive. Forget the karens and woke
Before Woke Disney they made good entertainment
Completely agree

Who is the narrator?
That’s Rex Allen! Original voice of father from the Carousel of Progress and countless other nature/animal features!
Rex Allen Sr - famous western singer and cowboy actor. Listen to Last of the Silver Screen Cowboys song by his son and you’ll here him with Roy Rogers at the end

unmitigated horse puckey......coyotes are not stock friendly
Well, Concho sure was.
LOL@@IntoAllTruth.
Well, Disney sure suspended the disbelief of the sheep, a Navajo tribe and me! I enjoyed it. It’s what Disney does best after all!
