Hi Emily, I have recently discovered you and I think you are one of the best teachers in pastel I have come across. I joined your tutorials and I have a question. When you blow off your extra dust, do you blow it into anything or in the air beside you? I just bought a small air purifier to keep at my desk to try to capture dust floating in the air around me. Also, I just bought Pastelmat board to try. Thank you for all of your great instruction and sharing your amazing talent! Kim

Hi Kim! I do indeed just blow it off, however, I also run out the background with a putty rubber throughout the drawing to keep it clean.

    Hi Emily.
    Beautiful drawings and explanations.
Really useful for beginners like me.
Any chance of listing the colours/numbers Faber Castellated Pitt pastel Pencils that you consider
Essential for beginners for pet/animal portraits?
    Many thanks.
    Pete

Fantastic, I’ve yet to try curly fur. May I ask? Did you do this portrait in one sitting? It takes me many hours to do mine. I love your process and finished pieces. 😊

Hi, I did this one over a few sittings but they were long sessions as this was done under a very tight time limit :)

Hi Emily, what set you recommend of Faber Castell 24, 36 or 60?

    • @emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820

Hi! I’m afraid I don’t particularly recommend the sets (unless you want to buy the full set, but for beginners that is quite an investment). The smaller sets have a lot of bright colours that aren’t overly useful for animal artworks. In the description, I have a list of individual pencils that I would suggest trying if you’re a beginner 😊
