This was a great lesson. You are truly an excellent artist and teacher. I’m very much considering a membership.
You are so good at explaining!
One main thing that helps me do commission work is I learned to trust myself. Even a ‘not in the mood’ day can keep me objective in any mistakes I’ve made yesterday. Everything can and will be fixed. Find that Zen moment. Those are amazing as your instincts take over and in this dreamy state I do my best work. The reward is bringing life to your work. Enjoy!
Cannot agree more! I think that comes from practice and giving yourself space to experiment and go wrong without judgment 😊
Beautiful! Thank you so much! ❤️
wow! gorgeous work, thank you for the time with all details explain...
Your brilliant Great content and presentation 👏👏👏
Thank you so much 🙂
I watched it to the end. There is colours I do not really use myself, but makes the dog stand out beautiful. Your colours makes the dog look very good maybe start think about the way I use white. I am mostly a landscape artist.
Thanks James! I think white can be so exciting to create because of all the reflected light happening. It makes every portrait different!
Watching this process was totally amazing, at the beginning I was thinking, ‘oh that’s too dark on the left eye etc’ but omg that drawing is absolutely mind blowing. Well done 🎉 gonna catch up with all your videos now 😊
Thanks so much! I know, values can be very sneaky like that and easily trick you!
@@emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820 you definitely tricked me 🤣 such a talent you have, I’m watching closely 😊
Hi Emily, I’m curious to know if you’ve ever had a request for a Dalmatian portrait? Within the first two mins of this video, you mentioned my biggest “issue” which is drawing white fur 😂😂. Actually it’s also the blending the spots into the white fur. I have two Dals and would love to attempt a pastel portrait one day. I love watching your channel. Thank you 😊
Just bought my first Pastel pencil set, I'm in awe of your talent, loved the drawing, can't wait to get going. Thanks
Enjoy your new materials! They can take a little time to get to grips with and the pastelmat paper, although expensive, honestly makes all of the difference 😊
This is so informative thank you so much!
Thank you!
Really great tips and content!
Thank you so much!
You are a great artist and very well explained through the details. thanks for sharing it
Thank you so much!
Amazing tutorial thank you. If you do a commission, with what product do you seal it?
Hi, thanks so much 😊 no I don’t seal the paintings actually but only because I’m using pastelmat. I’ll do a video about it but I have to say I’ve really tested the durability of the works and they are fine to go without spraying 😊
Wonderfully informative with a delightful narrative! Providing solid information is key to understanding how to accomplish a goal. However, having such a pleasing voice makes the process a joy. Your generous tutorial piqued my interest to delve deeper into your presentations. Many thanks! Side bar: My background is in watercolors and soft pastels. 🥰
Thank you so much Jill! I have to say I get sick of listening to my voice in the edits so it’s good to know other people don’t mind it 😂
Signed up for your membership last week, it's really amazing! I stumbled upon some paper, also from Clairefontaine but it is called Pastelgrain. Do you have any experience with this new paper? (at least, new for me 😊). Looking forward to more videos, really like your work and style of teaching ❤
I would like to know about pastelgrain too. I have a feeling it is going to be quite rough.
Ok I didn’t know about this! I’ll order some and do a video review for everyone soon 😊 thanks so much for the heads up!
Appreciate this free lesson. You mention a Vista pencil, which brand and number is it. Would like to order it. Thank you Emily!
Hi I think it will have been the Bister which is by Cretacolor 😊
This is so beautifully done. Thank you for the lovely video. I have never worked with this medium before so am wondering, (because you said you don't usually seal it) ,if you frame it, would you put it behind glass or leave it open.
Yes, behind glass! I usually add a double mount (matting if you’re in the US) as this a) looks classy but b) helps to protect the work 😊
@@emilyrosewildlifeart-paste9820 wonderful, thank you.
Hi emily do you sell the palette guide for different color furs you spoke about ie what the layers are for whites, ginger, grey etc. Also do you use pan pastels for base coat at all or hust rely on your pencils.
Hi Lee, I don’t sell them as a stand alone thing but you can download a booklet with the suggested colours inside when you’re a member (and then keep it forever).
I sometimes use pan pastels, mostly for larger drawings, but I’m general teach with the pencils so it’s more accessible 😊
😍👍👍
Thank you!
Hi I am new to pastels and i was wondering how similar would this be to prismacolor pencils? Thank you.
I can't draw to save my life..lol
😂 I have days like this myself...and I had to start somewhere (there were so many bad drawings!!)
