How to Make Aroma Beads DIY! Make Scented Car Air Fresheners!

- Today I am sharing everything I've learned about aroma beads. And answering the most commonly asked questions. *Patience is key in this project*.
NOTE Depending on your beads, this recipe/directions may not be the best suited. Check with your manufacturer for suggested usage rates & directions for optimal performance.
RECIPE: 12 ounces aroma beads + 3 ounces of fragrance.
DIRECTIONS: Use a jar with a secure lid. For better accuracy, measure ingredients with a scale.
Fill the jar about half way; you'll need room for the beads to grow & to shake them. NOTE: A slight vinegar or chemical smell is normal in beads (it goes away once fragrance is added). Add fragrance to beads. Add a few drops liquid candle color if you wish. Shake beads at least once a day for a week. The more you shake them, the faster the beads will absorb fragrance.
DAY 7: The beads should be dry. After drying beads, cure the beads 1 month to be safe. If they're cooked immediately after drying, the scent throw will be poor & will only last about a week.
TEST: Roll jar horizontally. If beads get stuck, don't add additional fragrance. If they don't, you may add a bit of additional fragrance [about 1 milliliter per 1 ounce beads] at a time. (then repeat drying process). If there is still liquid, add more beads to soak it up. Once beads are dry, you may add dry colorants, like mica & glitter.
MOLDING: Line the pan with parchment or foil. Place [same size] molds on pan. Fill molds (3/4 of the way). Put roughly the same amount in each cutter. Pack beads & make top flat. Place a metal nail where you want the hole to be (I use metal brackets that hold shelves up).
BAKING: Preheat oven between 300-375 degrees Fahrenheit (exact temperature depends on manufacturer's suggestions). Do NOT bake them until oven the is heated. Depending on size & shape, bake 5-10 minutes. Smoke is normal. Take them off hot pan to cool faster. Beads should be melted together & ornament should be smooth with a bumpy appearance on top. NOTE: The beads were overbaked if large peaks form. Let ornaments sit about 5 minutes to firm up. Once they can hold their shape, pop them & the nails out. Don't allow ornaments to cool in cutters or they'll get stuck.
PACKAGING: Wrap immediately. Air vacuum bags are best. Zip lock bags are the next best thing. If you don’t have either, wrap them the best you can or use them immediately.
USES: Place or hang them in small enclosed spaces like drawers, closets, or your car. Or you can put [unbaked] beads in sachet bags & use them as sachets. NOTE: The baked ornaments smell stronger & throw more scent!
ABSORBTION: Absorption rate is about 5-7 days and is slower in colder climates. Different factors, like aroma bead quality, temperature, & fragrance quality will affect absorption rate. Some fragrances can take up to 2 weeks, or even slightly longer, to fully absorb. *Patience is key in this project*.

I would definitely hang them, and not let them come in contact with interior of car, like side door panels, cup holder lol. fragrance oil will eat through 🤷🏻♀️ or melt/fuse to interior, but I do live in HOT South Louisiana, my first try stuck to my inside door panel. Yay! Thank you! I'm sorry I haven't been posting regularly. I've been busy on a side project. A company that sells bombs on Amazon hired me to create 24 new bath bombs to replace their old set. That's 24 different bath bombs including bath bomb recipes, scent recipes, color recipes, everything down to the smallest details. It's a lot of work, but I've been having a blast creating each bath bomb. They're all unique & amazing! I can't wait to show the world! Which, according to them, should be in the next 6 months. IDK. Good and detailed clip. enjoyed and will give a try. Update accordingly. At the moment I have n issue which requires everyone's advise, help. I made perfumed gel but it is not solidifying. In briefly after boiling water(1cup), added 1TBSP gelatin, essence and color of choice. after 48 hours mixtures is in liquid state. Pls guide me where mistake is?
I always add mica when I first make mine and I’ve never had a problem. I’ve never used candle dye though I’m going to have to try that! Also I have used essential oil multiple times and for that question I use about half to 3/4 the amount of what you’d use for fragrance oil.
I do and use the same as you! Never had a problem either.

This is probably dumb but can't I just put them in a small jar and that's it? I was thinking about using a small 4 or 8 oz jar and then leaving it under the seat with the jar slightly open. I really don't want to mess with baking and molds et al. I'm a guy.

lol, you can cure them and just leave them in the jar..I would put little holes in the lid instead of leaving it unscrewed.
