These are amazing!!! So more earth friendly than the other options that are available. A really smart inovative way to scent your car and they can be reused, how awesome is that? I love the little sachets!
so you could do the same thing with lava rocks too they also come in any col0or and are very cheap! They are porous and therefore absorb the fragrance oils very well..many use them in jewelry and car fresheners
How would you send them out in the sachets? Would you put them in a plastic ziploc bag to preserve the scent? Also can everything go into the wax melter? And do you need to add with wax melts in the wax melter? Sorry for all the questions- I’m a newbie and waiting for my first order
Hi there! Not 100% sure about the weight with the petals, you can add as much or little as you visually like. :) For the fragrance, we suggest 10-20% load. So at 20%, for 3oz of beads, so total weight is 3.75oz!
so many questions! If you package them in cellophane after mixing with fragrance, does that extend the shelflife before exposure to open air? how do you recommend packing them for customers? also how long do they last as a cold scent vs. in a wax melter?
Packaging in cellophane will help preserve the fragrance by a few months. We recommend putting them in sachet bags or boxes. Whatever your preference is! The definitely give a much stronger hot throw but the cold throw is excellent as well.
So excited to try these! Do they "leak" or "sweat" in general or in heat? Once the fragrance is added, how do they dry and not have any residue? Thanks for your videos and the new customer points!
They do not sweat! :) The ceramic absorbs the fragrance oil. We suggest using 20-25% fragrance by weight, if you add too much the beads may not be able to absorb it all. Thank you!!
We recommend scenting them shortly before sending out to preserve scent as long as possible! Another option is to sell the fragrance oil separately to customers or sell refills for them. :)
After how much time would you recommend re-scenting the beads, if used as a car diffuser in a sachet? I made a small sachet and placed in my car the next day, but didn't really smell it like I expected. Used 10% FO.
I would up your fragrance percentage! 20% is great with the beads. It depends on how hot they get in your car. The hotter the environment, the stronger and faster the scent will diffuse. They typically last at least a month in the car, we have some that have been going much longer though!
Awesome video! Great way to sell as "testers" for your candles. When figuring out your COGS on these sachet bags, how much would you charge per bag just for fragrance alone? $1?
I would price them using the weight of the beads+weight of fragrance+cost of the sachet. So a 16 oz bag of ceramic beads is $1.56/oz, and then buying a 2 oz bottle of the honey bourbon fragrance oil costs $4.48/oz, and a package of organza sachets from paper mart costs $0.11/per bag. Let us say we can fit 2oz of ceramic beads in each sachet, and we want to make five bags using the minimum fragrance load of 10%. We would use 10oz of beads+1oz of fragrance+5 bags. This would look like 4.48+(1.56x10)+(0.11x5)=20.63. That is how much it would cost to make five bags, so divide that sum by five for a quotient of 4.126. However, we are going to round to the nearest hundredth, which makes it 4.13/sachet. This is a reasonable price, but at the moment would only be covering the cost to produce the product and would not yield any profits. So we would need to mark it up however much. We can lower our cost/product by purchasing larger quantities of ingredients and making larger batches.
For just the fragrance using the same batch size here, we would divide the cost of the amount of fragrance used by the number of sachets we got out of the batch. So in this instance, we would divide 4.48 by five, for a quotient of 0.896. Round that to the nearest hundredth for $0.90cents/sachet, which you would mark up again in order to gain profit. With this method, however, you would be losing money, so I recommend using the first method over this one.
Since the beads absorb and then release the fragrance oils, coating them well must be a critical step. Would it be prudent to mix your FO with a carrier oil, at the recommended 15% to 20% levels, to better coat the beads and allow them each to absorb more fragrance oils? By the looks of the video, adding 20% FO to 3oz. of those beads wouldn't coat them all by a long shot, but adding an amount of carrier oil and loading that carrier oil at 20% FO might just allow one to disperse that FO better for release later. I'm just wondering here - thinking out loud. Has that been tested? Thanks - can't wait to try them!
We have tested them with carrier oils and found that we get the strongest fragrance throw when just using the fragrances directly with no carriers. :) You *can* add more than 20% fragrance too, you'll notice the beads have a max absorption and if you add too much they will still look wet for a bit of time. 20% is the sweet spot we have found!
Great question! Fragrances are slightly corrosive in large concentrations. We would recommend no placing directly onto surfaces you may be nervous about ruining.
You calculate them by weight! We suggest adding 10-20% fragrance oil. So if you are making 10 oz total of product, and you want 20% fragrance load: Measure 8oz beads by weight and combine with 2oz fragrance by weight. :)
Hello! You can honestly put the beads in anything you would like. We suggest the bags since the scent can linger through the fabric. If you did a bottle I would say just drill a few holes at the top and you should be good :)
It had a sell out after launch due to an unexpected demand in how popular they would be, but we have upped manufacturing and inventory so they should not sell out again. :)

It's wonderful how many uses there are for these! I love, love, love the idea of using them for product sampling, or as car diffusers
One of our makers gives them as a gift with purchase type offer and to get customer feedback on new scents she wants to use :)

Great questions! I would love an answer.
Is the oil you are using pure concentrated oil or is there a base in the fragrance oil
It is fragrance oil but you can use virtually any type of oil - like essential oil, you like!
HI!! GREAT VIDEO. When u put them in the melter do u have to add sth else on it?
If you use these as a wardrobe product in drawers, will the oil seep from the sachet leaving an oil stain on fabric or furniture?
In all of our testing it has not done this at all! The ceramic almost completely absorbs the fragrance oil. :)
I saw you using a scale. You added 3 oz of beads. What was your total weight in oz once you added the fragrance and the petals?
Hi there! Not 100% sure about the weight with the petals, you can add as much or little as you visually like. :) For the fragrance, we suggest 10-20% load. So at 20%, for 3oz of beads, so total weight is 3.75oz!

Hello! I love this product idea the only thing is the oil tends to leak thru on your fingers when you pick up the satchets. How can you prevent this?
Lola, I would probably wear a plastic or latex glove just to be on the safe side.
How do you prevent oil residue when a customer picks it up? They can't wear gloves every time they wanna use it...
If your beads remain wet, you may be adding too much fragrance oil. I use 20%, and the beads are completely dry.
We recommend mixing your beads and fragrance in a bowl until all the oil has been absorbed before inserting into the sachet bags :)
How are those beads different than ceramic pie weights?
Yes! They actually absorb the FO :)
I bought the pie ones and they work just as good as these beads . Pie beads absorb scents as well
Do they leak? Would they damage your car surface? Temps in my area can go up to 110+.
Great question! Fragrances are slightly corrosive in large concentrations. We would recommend no placing directly onto surfaces you may be nervous about ruining.
Will that white residue always be visible on the beads or does it go away over time?
No, it will soak in over time :)
How are you calculating the percentages? How do I calculate how much oil to add with certain oz of beads? Thank you
You calculate them by weight! We suggest adding 10-20% fragrance oil. So if you are making 10 oz total of product, and you want 20% fragrance load: Measure 8oz beads by weight and combine with 2oz fragrance by weight. :)
Very helpful. Thanks so much!
Love these! Can’t wait to try them! Approximately how many beads do you get in a 16 oz bag?
I don’t think they count the specific amount of beads it’s just measured by weight
It is by weight but there are several hundred per bag! :)
@@makesyofficial I was wondering the same thing.
Thx 💞
What’s an alternative vessel to the bags? I would love to put these in a bottle of some sort!
Hello! You can honestly put the beads in anything you would like. We suggest the bags since the scent can linger through the fabric. If you did a bottle I would say just drill a few holes at the top and you should be good :)
How many grams of beads should go in the wax melter at one time? How many for sample sizes?
Hey John! We put about 50-60 grams in the wax warmer at a time! For sample sizes, we suggest using our sachet bags which hold about 25-30 grams. :)
I love this and will be ordering! Does this product sell out quickly?
It had a sell out after launch due to an unexpected demand in how popular they would be, but we have upped manufacturing and inventory so they should not sell out again. :)
Would there be any type of labeling requirements for these? ie - Choking hazard? Keep away from children, etc?
We would definitely recommend labeling them as a choking hazard and keep away from small children and pets.
What percentage of essential oils would you suggest using?
We suggest using 15-20% by weight :)
Do you know how these do in colder conditions? its winter here
In cold weather, they work best in a wax warmer :)
Can you mix any type of flower petals with this...i would love to get some
Yes you can! We have a handful of dried botanicals on our site that we love to add in with them!
You used 3 ounces of beads. How do you know how much fragrance to add?
You really just need a small sprinkling as the beads are super absorbent!
Excellent 😊💞
Do these melt in a vehicle if it gets too hot in the cabin?
No they do not!
The Wooden Wick Co. Will the dried botanicals melt in the warmer?
@@MsSinnerG no!
Could you dye these, maybe using your eco dyes?
Do the beads last longer than the reed diffusers? And which have a better scent throw?
Yes they do last longer than reed diffusers! If you place them in a wax warmer they will have a stronger throw. :)
Thank you!
@@makesyofficial How long does the scent last when used in a wax warmer?
So are these clay? I'm not clear on the ceramic part. Thanks in advance!
Hi there! :) Ceramic is made from a mixture of clays, earthen elements, powders and water! It is 100% natural.
@@makesyofficial Thanks so much!
Whens the restock for the beads?
We should have them restocked in a few weeks! :)
will the beads melt when heated
They do not!
Hi there do we have an ETA on availability for them?
Back in stock now!
What type of clay are the ceramic beads?
These are proprietary. Please reach out to our cx team at hello@makesy.com for more info!
if I hang in the house How long will the smell last?
Hey Joy, this can vary on several factors. A good rule of thumb is typically 3 months.
So you can put them in melters, but what happens if you live in az or hot areas and it gets over 100 in your car and they melt?
Hi there! They shouldn't melt in your car even if the temps reach over 100F.
Your car is going to melt before these will.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Do you have a video of packing these ?
We don't! Were you wanting to see it packaging in a shipping box or with labels added?
@@makesyofficial yes absolutely
Game changer 🤔
can you reuse the beads?
You can!
Does this work with essential oils?
Yes it does!
Can we put these in stuffed animals?
That's an interesting idea! We suppose so, just be mindful that the beads can become a choking hazard if opened by small children or pets.
