Thank you Rahdo for this video! I have just played my first game of this solo rolling a D10 to remove a random tile to simulate a second player. A wonderful relaxing game and watching your playthrough made it super simple to learn.
really nice game, simple rules, lots of choices.. Im no expert but I think you pretty much nailed the name :) because it is actually french and translates roughly to "the carefree place" anyway, thanks for yet another great run through!
Sans goofs (ha), I like this game. Simple, somewhat pretty (maybe because of the theme); definitely easy to learn perhaps difficult to master. Too bad it’s rare to find and thus very expensive. Overall great runthrough as always!
Yeah, I'll eventually get Vikings because it would look great with Sanssouci and Seeland on the shelf, but I would probably agree with you about which one is "better." I like the more difficult decisions to make in regard to Vikings' spatial element, but the smoothness of Sanssouci's tile placement is so relaxing. I may upgrade my Sanssouci with special meeples because the nobles look a bit... stiff, perhaps? Needs more robust flavor that only a fat meeple decked out in regal gear can offer.
WulfCorbett That's precisely the problem... He played an orange card, got an Orange topiary and then played it on the board as if he had played a gray card and collected the Topiary from the gray row in the collection board... He should have played the topiary he collected in the orange place in the topiary track on the board
This video literally gave me motion sickness. :( I ended up just listening to the audio. Thanks for making it though, just please have better camera control next time.
yes sorry about that. for my first 2 years of running this channel i was filming only with the motion camera. a few months after filming this one i started doing static camera versions as well, but since this one is so old (almost a decade, wow!) i don't have a static option to point you to :(

Your second attempt at the pronunciation of the game's name was spot on. Sans soucis literally translates to "Without worry".

at 20:31 you scored 4 points for Jen, should have been 3
oops, adding note :)
Just found a new copy of this online. I also have access to Vikings at a nearby game store. Which game do you think is better?
that's a tough one. gun to my head, i'd take vikings, because it's deeper. sansouci is basically a light gateway version of vikings, in many ways :)

Ok I'm curious - who was at the door?
package delivery. review copy of the capitals :)
At 16:30 you played an Orange card, collected the orange Pavilion but used it has a gray Pavilion for Jen, instead of an Orange one
Actually I think he played it as a grey topiary - and scored it too!

Paulo Renato
No, I'm sure it was an Orange gazeebo, placed on the grey topiary space..
Paulo Renato He collected an orange pavilion and played it in the grey topiary spot. Looks like two mistakes in one move.
BrainchildDnB On the other hand, it looks like the only mistake :-)
I had to look up the pronounciation myself... it's 'sah-soo-see'
You can hear a few people say it here forvo.com/word/sans-souci/

Was the pizza man at the door?
