Hi, Firstly thank you so very much for the vid. It is great! Ssangyong Stavic 08 Auto - All wheel Drive. At first we could not change gears, so we fiddled with the brake master and presto we could change gears. Then weeks after, it started again so we had to resort to a pencil below the gear shift to select gears. After 2 months of this it suddenly came good. For how long????? We are yet to find out!!! Amongst all this mayhem, it decided to start this major 'clunk' but it is more like a loss of drive under load, especially on takeoff, up hills or overtaking. The closest town to us would be Cairns but we are willing to try ourselves, hubby was a mechanic in his past life. Lost all interest when the computers arrived and his back failed him! But we still do all our mechanical. We do have a transmission filter & seal and our local Bursons have the oil in stock! Any great ideas/suggestions for us! Thanks for your time.
hi, get trans specialist to put scanner on it see if any stored fault codes....but seems like loose or worn connections, if fiddling with brake switch and pencil fixed problem for a while. could even be your computer....on Ssangyongs the air vent blows under dash, if you have humid conditions like you do up Cairns, that can and will affect the electricals...start by making sure good connections by pushing terminals and plugs in and out a few times and blowing out with compressed air and squirt some crc or wd40 in there..the harsh bump if constant may be the pressure control solenoid worn or contaminated....hows the weather up there I'm heading up there end of the month for a couple weeks ;-) hope that helps, good luck cheers

Hi, I have a Ssangyong Kyron 2009 Diesel with a 6 speed auto, the torque converter is not locking up. A scan by RAC came up with "torque converter clutch circuit stuck off (hard code)". The initial assessment by a transmission specialist who never used a scan tool, but a 5 minute drive of the vehicle said the torque converter will need to be repaired/replaced. Could it be the solenoids as shown in your video? The vehicle has been well maintained from new, drives very well, no noises or vibration for over 200000 kms. The fluid has been changed recently for the second time with OEM (and expensive) fluid due to a failed serpentine belt cutting into the transmission cooler hose (at 50000 kms the failed belt is another story), and nothing untoward was found during the transmission fluid and filter change. Are you in Perth Western Australia area, or do you know of any specialists that we can trust? Thank you for your very interesting and informative videos. Cheers, Brian.
hi, always start with basics first...fluid levels, battery strong and charged, good earth from trans to chassis etc. on ssangyongs they have terminal corrosion problem under dashboard, so check all electrical joints from computer all way to transmission. having not resolved issue then you`d look at the tcc solenoids ( always good to check them all as they will all attract magnetic debris ) check out my other vids for demagnetizing and testing solenoids ( good to also have them warmed up as some fail when warmed up but ok at room temp - don't warm up with heat gun and don`t overheat the solenoids ) i`m in country ne vic. hope that helps cheers
Thanks heaps for your prompt reply. Had a friend helping me, we checked all the basics, battery good, earth strap good, terminal blocks good (even the ones underneath covered in crap were spotless inside when opened up). We dropped the pan, removed the filter and found a thin film of black substance inside the pan and on the filter, which was not magnetic. This was after less than 400 kilometers since the last fluid and filter change (see previous entry). Solenoid S10 was removed and found it was stuck. We gave it a good clean and got the plunger moving freely. Unfortunately we didn't have the setup to test hot, but it worked fine at room temp. We ran out of time to do the other solenoids. Put it all back together, and with a subsequent test run it appeared better at low speeds, but still not locking up at higher speeds. We've gone about as far as we can go with our limited resources and equipment, but we have found a transmission specialist who has done Ssangyongs before. Hopefully we can get some resolution there, as the vehicle itself has ALWAYS performed extremely well with no undue noises or vibrations. Thanks again, Brian.

hi, is it better or worse when warms up? its worth looking at solenoids for contamination and leaking. depending on mileage andif has been overheated from towing or alot of stop/start driving at low speed, the o`rings on solenoids might have hardened as well or flattend out. sorry really ard to diagnose without having a look. contact me on our facebbok link, for a few beers we can exchange pics/info on there. cheers
Hi on my ssangyong korando sports 2013 transmission(m78) jams for 1-2 seconds to change from 3-4 th gear about 60-65 km/h. Is it because of the solenoid?
I am thinking of changing solenoids S5 to S10 which I've ordered from a Chinese supplier. Do u think it will need some sort of ECU reprogramming. Also where to order Fuchs oil as when I spoke to Fuchs they said to contact bursons who'll have to order for me. Original filter is also way more expensive but if needs that then there's no other way I guess. Cheers.
hi, shouldn`t need to reprogram. we use tritech or penrite lubricants often...as long as you find a compatible fluid will be ok. filter can be an issue, you can alwaays contact me onour facebook link if you run into trouble sourcing one. cheers
@@YepThatsIt ok cool. i used castrol tq 95 last time as i read in a manual. ebay filter was not really too tight in there. it s holding up there though. i suspect something wrong with one of the solenoids or just a loose filter. because it kept slipping out of gear to neutral when a bit of hard throttle was applied. ssangyong dealer in sydney can get the OEM filter for me for 100 something dollars. hi, google transmission parts suppliers for the parts.....i try to avoid the dealerships whenever i can usually. email me from my about section on my channel. you will also need to warm up your solenoids to check properly as well as flushing them....ideally pull solenoids apart and clean properly. you could send them to me. there would be a few tools needed and i would have to make them specially for you...would be pretty expensive for a once only use...cheaper and easier if you mail solenoids to me. cheers

HI! Thank you for the video! I have a Ssanyong Musso 2.9 diesel with a M74LE gearbox and it has a failure code (P1721). I change the TPS twice (the SUV has 247000 km) and everytime, when the gearbox is hot and I accelerate softly, the shifting is harsh, specially in 1-2 shifting. Sometimes the gearbox "kicks down" by itself when I realease de throttle, shifting 4 to 3 in "D" and if I stop the car, the 2-1 shifting is very rough. 2 or 3 minutes after, the gearbox returns to work well. What do you think could be the problem? Sorry about my english, I'm from Chile! Best regards and thank you again! :D
hi, p1721 Gear 1 Incorrect Ratio. first always check basics...fluid level, electrical connections, battery good and charged etc. then could be solenoid problem that is applied in 1st gear - S1. I`d also check that seal on filter isn`t sucking air....the other problems also point to solenoids and/or pressure control solenoid. sorry but hard to diagnose without vehicle and test drive. but hope that helps, cheers
I have the same car in India which comes with a 5-cylinder diesel engine and 6-speed automatic. I'm having some weird issues. Some days when I start in the morning and slot into gear (forward or reverse) the car takes 3 to 4 seconds to move while other days it starts moving as soon as my foot comes off the brake pedal. The other issue is, upshifts are quite delayed and even the process of shifting is lazy. It tends to stay in lower gear and if I slow down for speed-bumps, it comes to first gear even when speed is 25-30 kmph which is quite irritating because a drop to 2nd or 3rd will pull it out clean. I'm suspecting low ATF . Could it be shift solenoids or torque converter unit? Scan at dealer's showed no error codes. Can you please shed some light?
hi, always check basics first...battery fully charged and strong, electrical plugs not corroded or dirty and fluid level. make sure you use the correct trans fluid as these take as a special type. if no change you will need to lower trans pan and see what kinds of crocodiles in there and/or if filter is blocked or filter seal has hardened and not sealing properly. a leaking solenoid will not throw a fault code as the computer only records electrical ranges outside set parameters. might be worth reading through past comments. cheers

(Maybe the connection between tcm and new gearbox). Is hard to believe that 2 different gearboxes can have the same problem. Gearshift unit was checked and is ok. Thanks a lot.
hi, sounds like its going into limp mode which is 3rd gear.....check basics first like battery charged properly, fluid level, electrical connections are good and tight and no broken wires or terminals have been pushed back into the plastic plug and not connecting properly...do you have any fault codes? if it is second trans you need to look at what you didn`t replace that's is associated with the operation of trans and yes could even be your computer....on Ssangyongs the air vent blows under dash, if you have humid conditions they can affect the electricals...start by making sure good connections by pushing terminals and plugs in and out a few times and blowing out with compressed air and squirt some crc or wd40 in there..hope that helps, good luck cheers

Note that in the case of short circuits that leak power into a control circuit, there is likely to be other, seemingly unrelated trouble codes present along with the code(s) being investigated. Diagnosing a 'high input' code will always involve a thorough testing of the charging system as a first step, followed by measures to isolate the system from all other possible sources of power during resistance, continuity, and reference voltage tests.

Thanks again, Brian.
thanks for the feedback, good luck and cheers
Can advice what oil use to replace differ axel front and back
always go by manufacturers recommended or compatible one from lubricants suppliers. cheers
mine had been ok so far. now started to cling to the 4 th gear, does want to go to 5 th easily. revs up and then shifts. changed all solenoids , etc. what else could i do. any suggestions please. thanks
hi, whenever you remove valve body, its good practice to air pressure test the clutch and band apply ports to check if leaking. cheers
why my ssangyong actyon sport 2011 winter ight blink once and then my reverse doesn´t work any more....? por qué la luz de winter de mi ssangyong actyon sport parpadeó una vez y luego la reversa del vehiculo dejó de funcionar...?
hi, you may need to do a scan for electrical fault codes. a solenoid may have shorted out or got stuck? cheers
Hello my friend I have ssangyoung kyron 2011 M230 It has a shock in grear when grear change from 2 to 3 what is problem?
i have geely emgrand gt come with DSI M11 same with BTR M11 there is kick between R to D when move from R to D take 1-2 second to go with kick do you know how can solve this problem ?
hi, is it better or worse when warms up? its worth looking at solenoids for contamination and leaking. depending on mileage andif has been overheated from towing or alot of stop/start driving at low speed, the o`rings on solenoids might have hardened as well or flattend out. sorry really ard to diagnose without having a look. contact me on our facebbok link, for a few beers we can exchange pics/info on there. cheers
Is there a dipstick for the auto version?
hi, did you watch the vid? should show it near the end. cheers
bro in my country they dont sell TITAN ATF 3292 , what should i do? even dealership ssangyong here doesnt have that
hi, get the most reputable and compatible equivalent you can find in your country. cheers
If in UK I can give you equivalent !
Hi on my ssangyong korando sports 2013 transmission(m78) jams for 1-2 seconds to change from 3-4 th gear about 60-65 km/h. Is it because of the solenoid?
hi, always check the basics first, then most often are caused by contaminated or leaking solenoids. cheers
What is leaking solenoid
Did you solve your problem?
Hello just a quick question are ssangyongs worth buying? Im looking at 2008 actyon sorts 4x4 cheers
hi, is your choice. I just fix them. cheers
Thanks for the quick reply. Cheers.
Hi, your video on the ssangyong solinoid repair is the very same problem I am having with my Actyon Sports 2012, I know its been a while since you did this video, but do you think that this fix would work on my car. I took it to a gearbox specialist in Johannesburg South Africa, but they refuse to even open it and Ssangyong south africa will not import a new gearbox for me, so my only alternative is to buy a new car and I really cant afford it. I think I can pretty much follow your instructions but will need to know how to do the fitting you made for your air pump. can you help me with this or can I buy the fitting you made?
Thanks Natascha
hi, google transmission parts suppliers for the parts.....i try to avoid the dealerships whenever i can usually. email me from my about section on my channel. you will also need to warm up your solenoids to check properly as well as flushing them....ideally pull solenoids apart and clean properly. you could send them to me. there would be a few tools needed and i would have to make them specially for you...would be pretty expensive for a once only use...cheaper and easier if you mail solenoids to me. cheers
Hi Noel here, Can you tell me where you are located? Having similar problems with my SsangYong Actyon Sports 2011. I'm located in Southern Highlands NSW. If possible, would like to bring to you for service. Cheers :)
Hi, I`m in North East Vic. quite a drive for you. You can pm me. cheers
YepThatsIt hi I'm having trouble with my transmission, after starting the engine the indicator on the instrument cluster D1 shows up and as soon as I drive off it shows D and gets very sluggish any advice?
hi, if after you check basics like fluid level, connectors, battery fully charged and holds power....if no change you may need to either pull pan off and have a peek or take to a transmission specialist. sorry hard to diagnose without a test drive and check. cheers
YepThatsIt thanks mate.
What is the recommended ATF grade?
hi, on these you can use genuine or the fuchs lubricants as shown in that vid. cheers
@@YepThatsIt thanks mate. I couldn't get the Fuchs here locally. Interested to know the grade / certifications , so that I can choose from available brands. 👍
What oil you recommend to refill this gearbox? (M74LE) Thank you for your help!
Hi, isn`t the one we use in vid? cheers
Fuchs - Titan ATF 3292 from Bursons here in Australia. Hope that helps Cheers
YepThatsIt thank you very much! Cheers! :D
Can you please shed some light?
hi, always check basics first...battery fully charged and strong, electrical plugs not corroded or dirty and fluid level. make sure you use the correct trans fluid as these take as a special type. if no change you will need to lower trans pan and see what kinds of crocodiles in there and/or if filter is blocked or filter seal has hardened and not sealing properly. a leaking solenoid will not throw a fault code as the computer only records electrical ranges outside set parameters. might be worth reading through past comments. cheers
@@YepThatsIt Thanks a ton for prompt reply. My bad for checking out late and thanking you late. I've taken note. Will follow it up. Thanks again.

Hello guys. I change auto gearbox at my kyron 2.0 (beacause of a p2502 error and stuck in 3rd gear..the car ia starting ok with 1st gear then stucked in 3rd, If i turn off/turn on, is ok again for a few meters).
I changed with a other used auto gearbox from the same model (warranty 1 month)..new oil and filter. Now, the same problem with the same error..there is something more i have to do?
YepThatsIt thank you for the answer. I have 1 intermitent fault code..p2502. i think that is hard to believe that both boxes have exactly the same problem...maybe something electrical or the TCM.
google it...defective alternator? high voltage
.... from www.engineobd2codes.com/p2502_ssangyong-rexton.html
P2502 Ssangyong Rexton OBD Code
OBD/2 P2502 error code description and symptoms. EGR Flow Insufficient Detected The EGR system is monitored during steady state driving conditions while the EGR is commanded on.
The test fails when the signal from the DPF EGR sensor indicates that EGR flow is less than the desired minimum. Vacuum supply EGR valve stuck closed EGR valve leaks vacuum EGR flow path restricted EGRVR circuit shorted to PWR VREF open to D.P.F. EGR sensor D.P.F. EGR sensor hoses reversed Damaged EGR orifice tube Damaged EGRVR solenoid Damaged PCM Perform KOER self-test and look for DTC P2502 as an indication of a hard fault.
Circuit High Input codes like P2502 are mostly caused by defective alternators that develop excessive voltages, although there may be other causes as well, such as short circuits that 'leak' current into a particular system from other, unrelated systems that work on higher voltages.
YepThatsIt i read this too, but at my car this error appears only in TCM, not in ECU.
From the alternator can the transmission went in limp mode maybe?
How much does it cost to do that please?
hi, hourly rate ( determined by knowledge, experience and tools ) plus parts , oils and gst. cheers
