    In the books the Lannisters are not broke. Far from it. They added that to the show to put more tension on the Lannister's situation but in the books whoever holds Casterly Rock, literally sits on a mountain of gold. Unless them being broke is revealed in future books, they got money.

    Maybe Stannis acted the way he did because he doesn't like Ned. He respects him as a lord but he hates the fact that his brother had a more brotherly relationship with Ned than with him.

    • @natesmith2408
      @natesmith2408 4 года назад +6

      It does seem that Stannis holds a lot of ill will towards Robert not being very brotherly towards him. By extension Ned was the one who had the brotherly relationship Stannis seems to have wanted. It's sad really. Robert supposedly intentionally slighted him by giving Renly Storm's End although Stannis was the heir to the throne and got to live at Dragonstone in waiting.

    • @roddo1955
      @roddo1955 4 года назад +6

      I think Stannis actually looks down on Eddard's righteous attitude and that's where his jealousy stems from. He likes Eddards stoïcism but resents the fact that he- as a fellow stoïc-doesn't inspire the same loyalty in people as Eddard does. Because Eddard believes in something: his family and that winter is coming. Stannis believes in nothing but resentment.

    The way I see it, the fact that Ned is described to don "the face of Lord Stark" is to connect him not only to the Old God's and the North, but also to Arya and the Faceless Men. The Old God's are described as "faceless" and "nameless" and Winterfell's Godswood has a pond of black water where Ned washes the blood of the slain from his sword Ice. Currently Arya is with the FM at the HOBAW where she is trying to become "faceless" and "nameless". The HOBAW also has a pool of black water that instead of drinks the blood of the slain, the water slays whoever drinks it. Not only that but Arya is learning to adapt better than ever before. She is learning how to act in order to fit her surroundings. So much of what she is learning will be an advantage when it comes to politics and while she doesn't fit into the typical Lady stereotypes, that doesn't make her any less of a Lady either way. Her learning how to act will come a long way when she arrives back to Westeros because while she'll never be a stereotypical Lady, she will be able to pick and chose - depending on the audience - who she will have to don "the face of Lady Stark" for in order to achieve her own goals. A lot of people don't see Arya's story as political but her witnessing the horrors of war, seeing and personally experiencing the plight of the smallfolk, her being extroverted and charismatic and un-classist with the ability of inspiring loyalty, and the education she is learning from the HOBAW and the people of Braavos is also an education that will aid her in politics when she so chooses. I mean only a small percentage of her education in Braavos has been about killing and an even smaller percentage about fighting. Most of her education is about detecting lies, learning to lie more efficiently, seeing and hearing truths, adapting, mummery, learning languages, learning various trades, studying poisons, becoming immune to poisons, and making potions, among several other things. You add in her skinchanging skills, and you are putting together the skills of Varys and Brynden Rivers in his hay day into this one girl who will just learn and grow even more skilled as time goes by. So yes, I see most of her training as preparation for her being a leader and working in politics as one of Bran's council members (most likely Mistress of Whispers, and I can also see her being a great diplomat given time too). So yeah I think there will come a time where Arya accepts her status (although she'll never conform) and she'll find times where she'll don "the face of Lady Stark". :)

    35:30 Wow!
    Not only was Ned meant to shelter these dire wolf pups whose mother had died... he was also meant to shelter Jon whose mother had died.
    It hits Ned after he kills Lady which is what he had wanted to do from the start.
    It sounds like Ned finally realises that he should not have sent Jon away. Jon was meant to be with him, just like the pups were meant for the Stark children.

    • @DD-ok2pt
      @DD-ok2pt 4 года назад +3

      @@nope5023 My theory and I am sticking with it is the real motto of "There is power in kinGsblood" has been misheard or miswritten over centuries and the real motto is "There is power in kinSblood".
      The only two "magical" families are the Targaryens and the Starks. Both are bonded to magical creatures the dragons and the dire wolves.
      The Targaryens believe that there power comes from kinSblood--- incest. Therefore, the same should be for the Starks.
      I think that the 3 Eyed Raven has been slowly removing the Starks history over the centuries "You no nothing, Jon Snow" is so true in many ways.
      All this to say that I am 103% sure that Jon is born of incest. B+L=J (Benjen or Brandon + Lyanna = Jon)
      The first person to call Jon "son" is Benjen and he is the only person to talk to Jon about "fatherhood".
      It would also explain how Benjen ended up on the Wall. It made no sense for Ned to let him go as Benjen is the last remaining sibling and his "supposed" son Rob (Brandon is the father) was still a baby.
      The only other father I can see for Jon is Brandon. This theory has its own strengths which would make Jon the oldest son of the oldest heir thereby making him the rightful heir to Winterfell.
      R+L=J is a red herring. GRRM even tells us it is a lie. First of all we only see it in the 3 Eyed Raven EDITED dreams of Ned. Secondly, as Syrio Forel ( SEE FOR REAL) says it is easy to get caught up in the fantastical stories and not see what is in front of your eyes.
      THERE IS NOTHING ABOUT JON THAT IS TARGARYEN... NOTHING
      - Jon does not have dragon dreams yet he can warg into his dire wolf.
      - Jon LOOKS more Stark than the Starks
      - Jon is ICE. In the show he has the EXACT same rebirthing seance as Dany. Dany's was fire Jon's was Ice; Dany gave birth to dragons, Jon resurrected a dead dragon (here is the twist it could have been any dead thing, man or animal)
      How? Why?
      Bran is the present day reincarnation of "Bran the Builder" and his bastard brother Jon is the present day reincarnation of "The Night Kink aka Jon Snow"
      Both present day Starks, Bran and Jon, are physically the same the last time they met a millennia ago. Bran is crippled and Jon is "non-living" after being stabbed in the heart.
      What we are seeing is the tail end of a battle that has been fought for a millennia. Bran the Builder built the Crypts of Winterfell to emtomb his brother. The Children of the Forests who made a pact with Bran the Builder made a fatal mistake, they accidentally made the Night King immortal by shoving the dragon glass in his heart... because he was born of kinSblood and it increased his power.
      The Night King escaped the crypts hence the lower levels are caved in. He then wandered through the underground tunnels until he found and exit on the other side of the wall in Hardhome.
      The was a huge explosion the brothers on the wall could see the bright fires... it was as though the sun/son was rising in the North. So the Night King has been free for the last 600 years.
      Lastly, this also explains Craster. The Night King could only "change" babies there were like him. Boys born of incest.
      So this is my theory and I a keeping it.

    I get furies when people compare Ned with Cregan, dude if Cregan was there he would have had all of them in chains, he would have had Tywin,Jamie and Robert in chains when presented with the dead bodies of kids.

    • @KingOfWinter
      @KingOfWinter 4 года назад +6

      I think Ned and Cregan are a lot alike with their morales and values for sure BUT where they differ imo is Ned wasn’t a natural born “leader” he was raised to be Brandon’s brother. To help his house, not to lead his house. A follower and that translated over to his relationship with Robert. He saw Robert as the big strong leader who was capable of being a good person and also the king wanted their heads so he decided to help him take the kingdom and accepted his judgement. Cregan wasn't about to follow no one he was raised to take control and lead and thats exactly what he did. If Ned was Cregan he would’ve told Robert either he was his equal and the North would have it’s independence after the rebellion (maybe even let it known that because they were friends the North would still be there if Robert needed him) or he would straight demand Kingship go to him since the rebellion started because of the slight to his house and the North was already larger then the other kingdoms combined... sorry for writing a novel I just love talking about this stuff lol

    I hadn't thought about it before, but you're SO right about Stannis. Had he stuck around long enough to give Ned evidence about the Lannister kids, Ned might have had a chance to have a frank conversation with Robert before it was too late. They would have been a good team if not for Stannis being so bitter about not being named hand...

    RE melting Starks (Lord Rickard, Brandon)-- I find it interesting that their deaths were seemingly depicted to Daenerys as she's carried into the tent when Mirri Maz Duur was doing her blood magic ritual to "save" Drogo:
    (Dany's internal thoughts)
    What was wrong with them, couldn't they see? Inside the tent the shapes were dancing, circling the brazier and the bloody bath, dark against the sandsilk, and some did not look human. She glimpsed the shadow of a great wolf, and another like a man wreathed in flames.
    Of all the things George could've had Dany see there, he chooses an exact depiction of Rickard and Brandon's deaths? That's blatantly intentional. Too blatant to be a coincidence. I don't know why GRRM did that, but at times he has me wondering if Jon and Dany are actually twins. I know this isn't exactly in line with this chapter, but that Littlefinger quote reminded me.

    Reason why Peter Baelish and Lysa Tully killed John Arryn:
    1. John Arry and Stannis were close to the truth about Cersei’s Lannister’s secret.
    2. John Arry was going to send little Robert/Sweet Robin to live with Stannis, and not to the Lannisters.
    3. Lysa was loved her son, so killing John was best way, to keep little Robert with her.
    4. Peter loves causing chaos; especially when it is to his advantage.

Littlefinger planted the idea in her head, and then they deflected the blame onto the Lannisters just to keep eyes off of themselves.

    Almost every bad thing that happens to the Starks goes back to Catelyn. She saves Littlefinger from Brandon. Littlefinger gets Ned killed. Later Petyr marries Sansa to Ramsey for his own gain. Arya runs for years to stay out of the hands of the Lannisters because Cat kidnapoed Tyrion with zero evidence and starts a war between the Lannisters and the north.
    Catelyn abandons Bran and Rickon. Rickon dies and Bran is no longer Bran...or human.
    She abuses Jon so badly he never wants to have kids and runs away to the Nights Watch...gets killed. Cat lets Jaime go free and so Tywin arranges the Red Wedding because he no longer fears the death of Jaime. Robb and wife are killed along with most of the Stark soliders. Now that Cat has destroyed most of house Stark she is also killed because she lets Jaime go.

    I've just found these Obsidian Nights uploads... and I've listened to a few, so I know I'm late to this party... but I see what you mean by how different the Stark kids are. They grew up with some accepted cognitive dissonance in that Dad followed the old Gods... Cat followed the new... Dad has one opinion of John... Cat has another... Nan has one account of history... Maester Lewin has another. They were CONSTANTLY being explosed to widely different perspectives and yet they learned to hang together. They are like the poster family for diversity... diversity of thought anyway.

    19:00 But if Ned didn't come back from the ToJ, who is Sansa, Arya, Bran, and Rickon's father. I think you can discount that theory right off. Unless Benjen is the father! But I doubt that too.
    The only thing that I could possibly see going on behind the scenes is that Ned was being influenced by someone. The only logical approach to Ned being alive is that Ned was swapped in the black cells. The only way this could have happened is if Meryn Trant didn't kill Syrio Forel because the real Syrio Forel was already drunk in the dungeon and that faceless douchebag beat Trant with a with a wooden sword. In the cells, Jager Hagar did some face lifting. Syrio was Ned, Ned is a guard or Syrio, and Jaqen is whoever Jaqen was supposed to be. Naw, can't buy it. I think Ned is dead.
    Now I do think Syrio did get put in the black cells, pulled his face, and took another man's, probably named Jaqen, or he got away from Trant and changed his appearance and got arrested for being unable to prove his new identity before getting out of the Red Keep. I think if Ned was alive that we would just have a lot more evidence in foreshadowing it. George is pretty on the nose with his dropping his clues subtle>subtle>uncertainty>the reveal.

    Love you Grey!! and this is just to be informative:) Capitalism is about business, it’s a way an economy runs, it helps people. It means anyone can have an idea, make it, sell it to the masses, and competitors can come in make that same thing but for a better price, meaning the consumer gets the best deal because now businesses are competing for the consumers dollar. The iron bank is meant to represent the Federal Reserve, not capitalism.. In fact, A Federal Bank should NEVER be involved in a capitalist nation, because inflation is absolutely unnecessary and now they own the entire nation. True capitalism is the only way to have a successful, fair, economy and society. America is not a capitalist nation anymore. We are somewhere between socialism and straight up monopoly’s, yet it’s disguised as capitalism. The comment you wonderful ladies made “little finger is basically ushering in capitalism” is just not true. LF is playing the Iron Banks game. Aka the Federal Reserves game, which is “manage a nations money and you’ll rule the world” Think about it, Westeros is in debt to the Iron Bank, which is why they are able to fund ppl they want in power. They are the true owners. When Cersei pays them off, it’s the best thing she could have done. Too bad she borrowed from them again ❤️ P.S. America’s Federal reserves is not owned or run by the US government. It’s owned by 13 families who also own Federal Banks in other countries all over the real world. George is 100% aware of that, and that’s why he set up the Iron Bank to mirror the US Federal Reserve. If you both knew the facts behind the Federal Reserve, you would see how clever GRRM is in adding in the “Iron Bank” to act as them. It’s truly genius!!

    Littlefinger comes off as a pathetic creep who is trying to burn the world to the ground just because the girl he liked did not love him back. I wish I could tell him "write a sad song about it and move on with your pathetic excuse for a life".

    Lannisters aren't broke in the books, that's some stupid show thing. There are shit loads of Lannisters, there are shit loads of mines all over the Westerlands and they also have a port in the extended family. There is no point in the books that any Lannister mentions they are broke apart from Tyrion in slavers bay and that is because he can't access the family money, is a slave and has no money on him. He basically bribed the sellswords with a promise of his families money and really thinks nothing of the extortionate sums he pledges because he either dies in Essos or makes it to Casterly Rock and can cover that money with ease.

    Catelyn told Littlefinger about Jon Arryn is ironic, seeing how he was the one who dictated the letter telling this to Catelyn. He absolutely had to prevent Ned going to Robert with the knife, as Robert would be the only person with whom Ned could talk who will definitely knows that in was not Tyrion, who won it it from Littlefinger

      Its kind of sensitive ground to trot on and doesn't matter, but I've wondered too and get hints of both.. The actual sound of her voice sounds Caucasian to me, but her tone and vocal stylings come off as more traditionally African American. My best guess is white or maybe half/half but from the city or a more urban environment.

    I think Stannis HAD to leave because when it did certainly happen, he would have been the one to blame. The Lannisters would have made sure this was the work of Stannis to become the heir again. It makes total sense that he left, Jon Arryn may have even been involved with his departure. This would align with sending Sweet Robin to be safely with him away from King’s Landing during a battle as well.

    i dont buy it that Robert really loved Lyanna, he barely knew her. What Robert feels for Lyanna in my view was a form of idealization, only because he couldnt have her, and she died, so he putted her in a pedestal, but is more imaginary than real, Lyanna was just a fantasy to Robert, he never get to know her really, so i dont believe that he truly loved her. He went to war over Lyanna, because in theory Rhaegar kidnnaped her and raped her, so yes, from this point of view, believing that is what happend, was only right Robert together with the Starks revolt against Rhaegar.

    Stannis left not because he did not care but because he did. Robert should have asked Stannis to be the Hand, and Stannis took offence that Ned was chosen. He knew that his survival depended on him being able to organize "swords and sails" on Dragonstone, because he knew very well that Ned was no match to Lannisters
