      They are not necessarily the future!I am sure cars will have mechanical buttons and controls in the future as well.This is new technology that is why is used to attract costumers for now.In the future companies will realise that combining buttons and touchscreen is the best way to go.In fact some of the companies are still in the button side and don't use touchscreen as a gimmick.

    I have a Q8 and I don’t get what the fuss is over the screens. Combined with voice control, the virtual cockpit controls on the wheel and the myAudi app the screens are hardly touched. It’s not like you’re continually changing the AC settings, radio, detailed car settings all the time. Voice control works well simply say I’m too warm / cold or tell it what temp to set. Simple. I reckon I spend 3 seconds a week wiping the screens clean with a glass cleaning cloth. Not exactly strenuous.

  • @conor44HD

    Couldn’t disagree more about the infotainment system, I don’t think there’s a better interior in any car. looks so much more elegant than the older version, which looks dated and clunky to me, but hey it’s just my opinion!

  • @MyWorldYourView
    @MyWorldYourView 4 года назад +7

    The benefit to the new MMI system, is that it is voice controlled, through the likes of Alexa. So, instead of using the touch screen to change climate, etc, you can tell the car through voice control, to “set climate to 69 degrees [Fahrenheit]” etc.

    • @ruisiauto
      @ruisiauto 4 года назад

      The guy clearly isn’t much familiar with that...I’ve been using both voice control and manual with no issues at all for over a year...The funniest thing is that 99% of the time you make really small adjustments within a 4 degree range and usually not that often. What I would really be conserved about is getting my radiator damaged through those large openings in the grill. What bothers me the most is the default setting to cut the engine off when you come to traffic lights or stop signs. IMO that feature should be enabled at drivers will...not by default, it’s really annoying...

    I think the facelift made this beautiful car even better looking. I have a 2013 TDI and it's my favorite car I've ever owned (and I have owned a lot of great cars). I have the Prestige model with the air suspension and I use all of my options frequently. I would love to buy a new one, but I believe I would miss my 675 mile range on a full tank, and I am not too keen on the new touch screen. The new touch screen is beautiful, but I believe it will be much harder to use while you're driving. I will wait and see...........

  • @Max1stMolar

    Completely agree, I own the 2017 Q7, it was ahead of its time compare to the GLS/X5 in 2017. But I will not be continuing with Audi or Porsche, because I would NOT want to crash my car while trying to set the temperature. Honda at one point took the radio tune knob off their civic/accord and put it with touchscreen feature, it was met with so much inconvenience that honda had to put it back in in newer versions. we only got 2 eyes and they need to stay on the road

    Adjusting temperature? You know you can do that by voice right? And you don’t have the lame prompts of “hey Mercedes” or “hey bmw”, you do it with a button on the steering wheel and yes that was a bull in the paddock albeit a young one so not 100% sure wether it still had its balls or not but it was certainly a male.

      Scott Hager you’re right to an extent. having a physical dial limits the functions. Touch screen is not the solution either, but it’s a move towards the right direction in terms of human - machine interface. Haptic feedback enabled touch screens along with a very good voice recognition system will eliminate the need to take your eyes off the road. An AI voice recognition that learns the driver would be ideal

And engine size /cubic inch, change my oil 3k - 5k, rotate my tires regularly and check my tire air pressure weekly, and as you know only Chevrolet can check the transmission fluid, but Chevy does it for us. No cost.
    Based on WC? We'll read, research and rely on the following: history, pros & cons, interior & exterior, amenities of standard and upgrades, for all operating components and of course rims & tires and as always .................the cost.
    So, naysayers I appreciate your comments, however plus or minus. That's what makes America so Great! Free Speach.
    Regards,
    Ralph O.

    I'm not a fan of everything touchscreen, prefer physical dials than the one seen in this car. I'm a happy owner of the old A3, I don't think I'll buy another Audi anytime soon.

    They should have just copied the massive infotainment screen from the Touareg. It's a dream to use on the move, being set higher on the dash with icon controls big and responsive. Also the boot is larger, it's beautifully quiet and refined, and quicker than theV6 Q7 diesel. And much cheaper. But without the badge cachet so important for many buyers..oh, and that's a bull, no question!

    Why is the UK still so wedded to diesel? Bizarre.

      Fuel is expensive over here lol, a petrol powered monstrosity like this would murder anyone's bank account 🤪

      My Audi S5 does 18.3 mpg! It eats through the petrol... I’ve had my fun for a couple of years, I’m going back to a diesel 😂.

    Did a great job at ruining the simplistic and elegant design of the pre-facelift model, especially that aluminium strip at the back, that shit looks terrible

    I don’t get why Car manufactures think slapping 2 iPads on the dash to replace all dials, switches is a good idea. Obviously it’s to save money on dials, switches and toggles but surely it’s incredibly dangerous to ask someone to operate 2 iPads when driving. I can see the UK government releasing some sort of law on manufactures to ban these infotainment systems.

    I typically never respond to anything on RUclips but when I see someone not ticking all the boxes, it’s irritating, regardless of Brand. I am a fan of BMW-MERCEDES However As an ABS,(Audi brand specialist) been with the brand 13yrs and counting) the attack on the New MMI system is uncalled for. Taken from me, who was the biggest critic of the new system without ever having operated it, now prefers it. Although I understand a traditional knob, this screen set up is better. It is if not the MOST responsive touch-screen currently in the Auto Industry supporting Multi-touch. This “reviewer” failed to relay to viewers exactly how quickly you can change climate. Instead he makes a lifeless attempt at sliding his finger up-down then saying it’s terrible. He also failed to relay to viewers that this new MMI system supports natural speech selection, enabling you to set, turn off or on climate or MMI functions via voice control. If your going to review it, actually REVIEW IT and mention the features that truly set it apart as since 2006 it’s been one of Audi’s BEST selling models and highly rated SUVs...your review title is an all out attack lol
    Lastly, in 2019 the Audi Q7’s retractable-screen wasn’t so “retractable” irritating customers as the screen is mildly intrusive. See the 2020 Audi Q5. That my friends is a ridiculously lousy set up...sorry Audi, but there are 15 19” Q5s sitting on my lot that are moving slower than maple syrup in winter, because you tacky glued on a non-touchscreen iPad to the dash as an afterthought. Fortunately 2020 Audi Q3s we can’t keep in stock!!!

    I have the 2016 Q7 S line with air suspension amongst other options. It’s principal use is to tow my 1500kg caravan which it does with such ease that it’s without any question the best tow car that I’ve ever owned. Fuel consumption however when towing is nothing to brag about but solo it is just amazing.
    Would I consider upgrading to this 2020 version? No.

    So there are all kinds of praises for Tesla's touch screen but now that Audi has a touch screen reviewer doesn't like it... I think the new interior is beautiful. That's where you live and Audi has great quality interiors... Still lovin my 2014 A6 TDI.

  • @indirectfever6357

    I would get the x5 since it really is sporty and handles way more better then the Q7. Also the Audi’s quality is the same as the old model and that model was not good since it did not have real leather and very plastic compared to the x5.

    Not needing 7 seats, Q8 is the Audi to go to if you want an SUV. Residual value fact factored in, choosing an Audi over Mercedes (Benz being the worst on reliability amongst German cars in latest consumer reports) and ofcourse over RR, then Audi is the way to go. Ummm, where is the poll?
