    Since The Doctor Forever is basically 10's theme song, I love how they used it for 14 in a way that makes it sound more bombastic and grown up i guess.

      The Doctor Forever is actually Martha's theme. The Doctors Theme is similar to Doomsday.

      Honestly I would’ve preferred if they made it a bit more recognisable. I love this song but I didn’t even notice it while watching the episode…

    Literally, the Voyage of the Damned Suite begins with an epic variation of the Doctor Forever ("I am the Doctor, I am a Time Lord, I am from the planet Gallifrey on the constellation Kasterborous, I am 900 years old, and I am the man who's going to save your life and six billions on the planet below"), all the while with the variation and the choring woman singing in the background.
    Also, hearing this variation on the 50th (Day of the Doctor) and 60th anniversary specials back when they were broadcasted unlocked my inner nostalgia for this music. I missed it so much.

      Series 3 will always be one of my personal favourites as it's when my obsession with the show started to skyrocket. Personally, I don't think there's a bad episode in there. Yes, some of the writing is iffy in places but the music more than makes up for it, as this video evidences. It's more than enough to remind me why I love this show so much.

      Honestly, I think that there is so much from Ten's run that just largely goes unnoticed by the casual fandom. Like, people always say that Tennant is their favourite Doctor, but they're pretty much just exclusively talking about the episodes written by Moffat and not really much else, maybe Midnight or The Waters of Mars on a good day. How many Tenth Doctor fans have you met whose favourite episode is The Christmas Invasion, School Reunion, Rise of the Cybermen, The Runaway Bride, Smith and Jones, Gridlock, Utopia, Partners in Crime, The Fires of Pompeii, Planet of the Ood, The Sontaran Stratagem, Turn Left, The Next Doctor, or Planet of the Dead?

    • @DoctorVision
      @DoctorVision 2 месяца назад +1

      @@wanderingshadow1372 Well for what it's worth, Utopia is my favourite episode of the DT era I think, followed closely by Human Nature/Family of Blood and some of the other favourites. But none of his episodes are bad per say. I think there's much worse that's come after, especially in the Whittaker era.

    Funny how it doesn't appear until The Runaway Bride but it becomes the Tenth Doctor's de facto theme from then on. All the Strange Strange Creatures, probably the other most recognisable Tennant era piece, doesn't appear in Series 2 either.

    • @Yickerd
      @Yickerd 3 месяца назад

      Yeah throughout series 2 they kind of just continued using “The Doctors Theme” as well as introducing “Song for Ten”

    • @DoctorVision
      @DoctorVision 3 месяца назад

      Yeah, hence why I think the show started to hit its stride in Series 3. The music started to become consistent quality (not bashing Series 1 and 2, some phenomenal music in there as well) and everything just started to fall into place really and of course its mainstream popularity just grew and grew.

    I love this series of finding recurring themes, its feel like an investigation or puzzle finding which episodes hide the motifs. If its okay, there is a piece from Jodies era which I noticed nearer the end of Seguns run which might make for a cool video. It was a piece featured in the series 12 soundtrack "Tectuen", and its a motif used for moments of time lord/regenrative significance. Its plays when we first ses the Cybermasters enter the time lord chamber, or when they regenerate in POTD, and it was used when the Timeless Child regenrates for the first time, and im sure it was used even more.

    It does make me realise how The Doctor Forever is basically RTD1's era's I Am the Doctor. It has got to be one of my favourite themes though, it's just so emotionally powerful and makes me love Series 3 and 4 even more than I already do. Criticise the writing of Series 3 all you want but the musical coordination is literally top notch! And it just reinforces for me how David Tennant will always be my favourite Doctor(s); the emotions I associate with that theme in those scenes never fails to overwhelm me.

  • @Doctor_What63
    @Doctor_What63 3 месяца назад +11

    Something I found slightly frustrating with the 60th is that the recurring themes were too brief - there were moments where a theme could/should have played in full rather than half a motif. I’m glad the themes were subtly referenced but there were moments that could have done with them played in full…

    I can't believe I've never really thought about the consequences for the "saved" in silence in the library. It's played as a victory, but all those 4000 plus people are returned to a world everyone they knew is dead, they've been assumed dead for a hundred years, no home, financial security, familiar faces to speak of, time and technology has moved on. It's a hollow victory at best.

    This wonderful theme reprise lacks the scene from the Doctor's Daughter, where he says "I never would," after he declines to resort to vengeance or aggression. I guess the choice of "one instance" rule there was to use the scene showing the daughter's body, but that shot was less impactful.

      I agree. I Am the Doctor is grossly overrated. And people always say it's THE Doctor theme, like it's the one that can fit every incarnation, and I'm just like: "No, it pretty much just fits Eleven."

    • @supremeoverlorde2109

      @@wanderingshadow1372 I mean, I still enjoy "I Am the Doctor," but in general I do only associate it with Eleven. I think it was used a couple of times during the Twelve era and then once during the 60th specials.
      The only song I associate with every Modern Doctor is "The Doctor's Theme." Even though Jodie Whittaker's era had a different composer, that song was still used for her when Twelve regenerated into Thirteen.
