I completed the quiz and started sign-up, which prompted me to pay first before modifying the contents. I can't pay $89 for products they haven't displayed for the delivery. If they change this method of membership sign-up and allow us to modify before paying, then I would likely try it. Thank you for the transparent review!
I did this meal plan for several months in 2019 and I actually loved it. I lost weight and even though it doesn’t look as beautiful as other meal plans, it’s hella tasty. I felt very full after eating the meals. They are ‘smaller’ portions, but I felt full. I literally just signed back up, but this time I’m getting it just for my work lunches. It’s not for everyone, but if you’re ridiculously busy and want the convenience, this is my favorite meal service!

I went to their website one night to see how much they were and couldn't get a price because they wanted me to sign up first. I don't think so. I want to know how much I'll be out of pocket before I sign up for anything. Well, it looks like I'll continue to do my own cooking and making up recipes. I like to cook enough so there will be leftovers and I can freeze it for later when I'm not in the mood to cook.

The con we have the biggest problem with, his portion size. They only send 4 ounces of meat or fish for two people! I have been mixing up the recipes and freezing one portion for the next week. Meanwhile there is too much of some things, like the Asian salad mix & the zucchini slices. we had some things go bad, when we ordered out on the weekend.
The only thing I disagree with in your review, is the price- we can't keep paying $9.49 per serving, to keep meal prep time down, for much longer. especially during summer and fall harvest in our rural area. We can get organic, locally grown produce at our co-op & a new local farm, For less money. I'll bet in the winter the Broccolli Zucchinin, etc, would be a good treat, if they are even able to keep these vegetables in stock over the winter... we will have to see.
this week is the second week we have skipped our box because of the price and a repetition, but I am glad they give you that option!
PS, I love that there is absolutely no refined white sugar in any of their sweet treats!!!

Most of the cons are the exact same ones I had with other delivery services. The one that bothered me the most is how repetitive the recipes are/were. Portion sizes are incredibly small. I mean, my husband and I rarely eat leftovers but as you said, you have to add at least a salad to these recipes. Thanks for the honest review! New subbie here!!

Keep in mind you are paying extra for the convenience of home delivery of pre prepped food that will only take about 10 mins to turn into a meal 🙂
@@Joulya4 I’ve been to Trader Joe’s recently for the first time ever. Spent about 30 mins in there. Walked up with nothing. Didn’t see the hype in it

Thanks for the review. When I looked into ordering from them, they were going to give me only four recipes that would make four servings each. So the small portions may be because in your questionnaire you said you were only feeding two people.

Thankful for this. 🤙🤙 Was interested now that I'm a vegetarian. But if they aren't substantial meals then I don't think it'll work.
You should try it. I think it is the people that are getting meals with meat that aren't satisfied with the potion size. I get vegetarian meals and I find the portions just fine and fill me up.
Just as I has suspected - portions are too small. I've found this is the case with all the meal delivery subscriptions I've tried. Too bad.

This was super helpful! I’m contemplating getting the service, but I get nervous about the lack of healthy fat. The human body needs healthy fats which is definitely why the meals were lacking in the calorie department. I won’t be able to survive off of 400-500 calories per meal. That’s insanity!
A little confused on some of your cons - you can choose as many different recipes as you want so you shouldn't get the same ingredients for multiple recipes unless you picked it that way ... also, all the ones I picked were closer to 500+ calories per serving - and the servings seemed large I tend to like larger portions - but I also ordered a box for 2, not a family, so maybe they give you the same amount of food :) Thanks for the review
Thanks for your comment :) this box I just got the default food options I believe (I didn’t go in and change the recipes I was getting), so that could be the reason for the duplicates.
Jennifer, I am also getting multiples of the same items, even when I go in and change my limited options (Gluten free, Dairy Free, Soy Free); and my daughter, with no restrictions, also got duplicates. They have cancelled their membership. Meanwhile I have started adding in more snacks & beverages, and I have cut back my meals from 4 to 6 dinners, lunches, to 2 to 4.... since it's summer in a rural area, I can find fresher organic produce at my local co-op. (had troubles with some of the Asian salad mix, the Romain lettuce & the zucchini going bad before the two of us made it, if we eat out on a weekend)

I think the recipes taste great but we do eat the spicy stuff she didn’t like. We think the portions are perfect too. Very little time cooking for something healthy and really good. Plus we are able to get some weight off with these meals.
Good review portion size is really a deal breaker for me

Look like this service is only for people in new York city or Chicago where it's difficult to go the the grocery store. Otherwise overpriced and unnecessary
Seeing the prices is a big turn off I have a weekly grocery budget of $40.
When you were cutting that chicken.... I wanted to help you soo bad.
I like it…cost 75 a week…so much food that I alternate weeks

@@MissSarahEK Around $250 per month with portions that would far exceed the $500 hr sub. I really like the healthy selections and convince hungryroot provides but most of us are on a tight budget and cant afford to spend soo much on convenience.

These grocery an meal subscription boxes cater to middle class and the rich.
Oh just "suck it up" and make the time to go to the store yourselves and buy the ingredients you'll need if you're going to "cook" the meals at home anyway. Otherwise? Order delivery or just go out to the restaurants which have reopened under "Covid 19" protocols.
If you’re being sponsored by this company then we can’t expect an honest review. You should’ve shown the smallest box so you aren’t leading people on. It looks terrible btw, like ingredients you need to cook together for a meal not meals or snacks.

I’m not sure how showing a larger box is leading people on; I explained there are different sizes and the one that I got. I also talk about quite a few negatives in this video to show both the good and bad of the service. If you don’t trust my pros and cons though, no problem 😊. I was given a $300 subscription as a birthday gift. From day 1 there were problems. Customer service is only handled thru e-mail which is not very quick in responding. Website is difficult to decifer at first, everything is listed as credits instead of dollars,prices are expensive.I adjusted my orders to fall in line with my available credit since I was unsure if I would remain a customer.They left many items out of 2 of the 3 deliveries and adjusted my credit by $53 credit. I chose 2 add ons, one a sandwich which was $20(pricey) and another a steak and potato meal for $23.I DO NOT want to give them any credit card because I don't want to continue with this sketchy company any longer. Stay away,far far away from Hungryroot.
