Been playing guitar almost 50 years, musics been my living almost 40. this guy nails it to the floor for soul n timing. Great guitar player. Wonderful. I feel so so sorry for the 25 lost souls who went out of their way to dislike this? Haa Maybe he owes them money? but if i were i Darrells shoes i`d have a Satisfied mind.
I feel sorry for anyone that has yet to hear and experience this epic performance by Darrell Scott. I’ve probably listened to once week since finding it. And it continues to move me no less than before
I genuinely think it's "pocket thumbing" it's gotta be! I've accidentally done it once (at least that I know of) listening to music on my phone, with it in my pocket. Just lucky I realised when I pulled it out as I really like what it was.
My dad used to sing this song when I was a kid, so it is one of my favorites. I think Darrell Scott's version is the definitive one. Beautiful interpretation.
Omy!! Just heard your version of Southern Cross on Outlaw Country , Loved it! Now yur Satisfied Mind, one of my favorites to play, I want to hear your originals! ROCK ON✌
I connected one time at one time with a lady that told me her Dad wrote this song. She said she was still receiving royalties from this song. She was kind enough to give me tips to having some of my songs recorded without being known in the business. I lost touch with her, but still cherish the conversations we had.
And also very gracious. His introduction to this song was a classic example of this. Unassuming and polite, and then he starts playing and singing - perfection.
I occasionally come back to this one when things are a bit too much. In WNC we have been devastated by Helene and the recovery is going to be long and painful. There's so much suffering and heartache all around. Thanks to Darrell Scott for all the great songs even though he covered this one.
Darrell is one of my favorite living writers, and yet he is possessed of humility. Here he features someone else, even uses the crowd to search for a way to thank & credit the author. Darrell is a treasure.
Enjoyed hearing Darrell's rendition of "A Satisfied Mind". Read an article about Darrell in our local "Scene" tabloid here in Nashville, TN. Happy to find this very talented artist.
A sentiment that couldn't be truer than today. And what a minstrel/poet to deliver. The Band Of Joy one with Patty Griffin and Buddy is also a classic.
First time I ever heard of Darrell Scott was at one of the Band of Joy shows (it's a travesty that I didn't know of him prior to that since I'm from Kentucky). I went to see Robert Plant, but I came away a Darrell Scott fan. I've bought several of his CDs and seen him in concert since then.
He is a master of something my teacher called “the note that killed.” Can other people play faster? Yes. More technically? Yep. But he can move your soul with a single note
Sunday mornings our church was listening to WSM radio up until noon. And so many incredible sounds coming out of mamas ole Grundig stereo that had a real to reel and held a shine like new money! RIP Hazel Ruth you shaped my life for better and for worse, I love you mama!
My All Time Favorite Song, Than You Darrell; I met you in May at HJ Festival, met yr wonderful wife & You 2 were Just Glowing! Living this Song I Imagine :)
I am no guitar expert but obvious that he is using a drop D tuning. Basic chords are simply D, G, Asus, Bm. Of course it is all the tasty licks and in between things that take it way above to the next level. (and of course the soulful authentic singing)
I wish, much more people were aware of the importance in nature, life and family, but overall, God presence in Jesus Christ. Blessings to everyone how read this 🌻🌼🙏!
Thank you to whoever requested this song
Darrell - I played this at my dad's funeral, it speaks to my soul, and I think he'd have loved it

Epic, pure, real. Thank you. 🙏
When he did this with the Band of Joy, it was one of the highlights of the concert for me.
very few singers today can make you feel like they are telling everyone else how you feel.

Darrell Scott is simply a treasure.

not bad, but check out Jeff Buckley's rendition. The feels, man. The feels
budalo10 I so agree, mate. I'm totally in love with Jeff's version...it's so haunting❤️
Check out goose Creek symphonies version
God the Buckley version is awful. This smokes that version.

What can I say that hasn't been said, honesty, sincerity, chops and an expressive heart....thanks Darrell.
I have said it again and again...he is the most talented and soulful man in Nashville...!

And last night he was the most talented and soulful man in Cork. What a pleasure.
And also very gracious. His introduction to this song was a classic example of this. Unassuming and polite, and then he starts playing and singing - perfection.

A song written in 1948 has such relevance then and now. Love this song and video! Amazing - thanks Darrell - you never disappoint.
Just found out my father doesn't have long and my mom told me to check this out, man... I'm not an emotional dude, but this is him to a tee... wow
My dad passed some time ago. As long as he knows you love and respect him you're both left with satisfied Minds.
I love, admire and respect a musician who shines a light on the writer.
Makes you actually feel the message of Satisfied Mind. Darrel's voice is unparalleled and he understands what country music is all about.
"A Satisfied Mind" is a song written by Joe "Red" Hayes and Jack Rhodes.
He wrote so many songs. So many artists sang his songs. So awesome.
Darrell is one of my favorite living writers, and yet he is possessed of humility. Here he features someone else, even uses the crowd to search for a way to thank & credit the author. Darrell is a treasure.
Used to listen to this song from the lips of Porter Wagner on Saturday afternoons. My Mother sang harmony to it and it was beautiful.

Country the way it was meant to be! What a joy!
I am satisfied from listning to this. :-)
Me 2. Happy music.

Greatness in music 🎵 hats off to Darrell...well done
How nice of you to bring that song out, so beautifull and as usual whan it comes to you performed supreme.
Porter Wagoner can never match the way Darrell Scott has done with this song. He should get a Grammy for this rendition

1 year later; How is that going for you?
Darrell dear, A amazing beautiful performance!! Awesome song choose!!//Janice
My All Time Favorite Song, Than You Darrell; I met you in May at HJ Festival, met yr wonderful wife & You 2 were Just Glowing! Living this Song I Imagine :)

Beautiful ✊🏻✊🏻✊🏻
Love this! The one from Hippie Jacks gets played regularly for friends, but I really enjoy this more "introspective" version.
Just great! Flat out; undeniably wonderful performance.
I can't stop watching....
This is my new favourite thing. x
Best I've ever heard Darrell. Just great.
Watch the tuner...it will be green during the instrumental then go amber when he sings. Tells you quite a bit re: blues
Nice Work!! WooF!!
Great job! Almost acapella, and still sounded awesome.
Darrell! "Satisfied Mind" is by Jack Rhodes and Joe "Red" Hayes.
Or so Wikipedia tells me...
Same credit on the Byrds album, Turn! Turn! Turn! Doubt they got that off wiki in '65. Great song, whoever does it.
