    Re: Chasing Amy | Maybe if a Ringer staffer is reading this they can pass it on - As a queer gal, I really want Sean to know that Chasing Amy has actually aged quite well as a set piece on male insecurity (which was always its intention) - something more relevant than ever in an incel age. It also speaks to how limiting queer identity was in the late 90’s and early 00’s / you were either gay or straight and bisexuality was a “phase”, the pressure to “choose” that the main character faces is something many of us felt. This is driven home by the fact that Smith had his lesbian BFF proofread the script for accuracy and not even she suggested Alissa could be bisexual. And that ending - where he basically tries to present her as an experience to his best friend and she slaps him and says “I love you… but I’m not you’re f*cking whore”. That was one of the only times I’ve seen a woman say no on screen in that way - it was incredibly empowering at a time when girls were expected to be like the ones in American Pie - smiling through sleaze and being up for anything. It’s a great film and a meaningful one to many queer people like myself, and one if Kevin Smiths best. (❤️ from a massive Kevin Smith and BP fan)

    I love the 30 Rock shout out. It remains an absolute pillar of warm-blanket comfort TV. Side note: I'd watch an entire podcast series of Sean going on a journey into Plex land and digitizing his entire collection and learning about the joys of Plex. It'd be awesome and you could load up on tech sponsors for that.

      If he did not encode and did it one-to-one backup, he's going to need a serious server setup at 25-90GB per movie. Sounds like a fun (albiet $$) project.

    wow, GLORY DAZE, I saw that on VHS at my friend's mom's internetless cabin in high school. I never thought about it again until the moment it was brought up here, but wow I do remember some insane haircuts. also I believe the whole plot leads up to Ben Affleck having to submit his senior thesis for an art major, which ends up being a chrome sculpture of a human hand holding a DVD. you guys would like it maybe.

    This might be the first time a Damon project hasn’t been unanimously praised on
    Ringer but of course they chose to talk about not absolutely 💯 loving a movie of his in a vid that spends most of the time praising Damon ( ya know, cuz Bill wants to keep getting invited to the parties 😂 )

    i think every year there should be a "Best Mediocre Film" at the Oscars. The film that you mildly enjoyed, was competently made, and acted suitably but with no star-making performances. To me next year's award would go to The Instigators.

  • @riveraderek07
    @riveraderek07 4 месяца назад

    How can you mention the Ocean Movies and not mention “the nose plays”? The highlight of those movies. Bourne Identity is the best Bourne movie. The most memorable pieces of that franchise are from that movie, Franka Potente was great and Tony Gilroy was still writing. The others with Greengrass introduced that BS Shaky Cam stuff that doesn’t work. Also the movie shouldn’t go in but the speech in We Bought a Zoo, where he says to his son “I thought you had friends” should go in.

      @@howdareyou41 you couldn’t have said it better. When I thought something was going to happen. It totally changed. Example the money truck scene my through process they were going to rob the truck. Quick plot twist they run away like someone would really do in real life. That scene is so funny also haha.

    Brian Raftery wrote one of the stupidest books of all time...right alongside Easy Riders & Raging Bulls; it is that for a new generation 😂😂
    Marvel Movies have dialogue for twelve years olds but American Pie is a classic 1999 film...this is literally how Raftery "thinks"...and he gets to write a book about it 😂😂😂😂...but, hey, Sean/Amanda apparently thought Barbie was a good movie...don't think they were putting much thought into it, but Brian on the other hand...👎👎👎
