I see questions like that on a lot of Frank's videos, and it always comes up in his livestreams, too. "How can I change my type?" I don't know, basically go back to your birth and relive your entire life? Because that's what you're asking - to become a different human person than you are. What these people REALLY want to do is deal with their weaknesses or shortcomings, which we all want to do, but you do that by developing your lower functions as you mature, and by identifying unhealthy behaviors and addressing them. Not by trying to change them into something else.

@@chandreyee_c Thank you. I appreciate your feelings. It wasn't so bad "being" an INFP. They are kickass. INFJs would prefer to be any other type, as we are always in search of being understood, as elusive as that is. We want to be understood so desperately, yet we barely even know ourselves. Who are we? We don't know, but we know who we are not.
I had the opposite situation, lol. Accurately typed before I even knew what it meant, and never had a doubt. I was introduced to it by an INTJ friend, who just asked my MBTI type, and I had no idea what he was talking about. He said he KNEW what I was, and dared me to take a test. I took like 5 tests, not knowing how he had typed me or what it even meant. Every test said I was a solid ENFJ, no grey areas. The conversation afterward was like this: INTJ: Did you take a test? Me: Yep. INTJ: Do you want to hear my guess of your type? Me: Yep. INTJ: You're an ENFJ. Me: Yep. So after that I started learning about it, and yes, I'm definitely correctly typed. Learning about the functions has helped me get a better handle on what my issues really are, how to better communicate with people, and put the challenges in my life into a more useful perspective. I am very glad to not be unsure about it. Big hugs to those people out there still trying to get typed accurately. It's worth the effort!
dude fr, it’s always like that. sometimes it happens without knowing. you can just never get a moment of peace while having an active brain running 24/7.
I disagree as far as I am concerned, but I agree that I think that most J types are heavily invested in prioritizing the most important information and at some point, we decide we have more than enough of the major factors to make a decision. Give us five factors that are all about 20% and we would dither, or at least I would.
It was heartbroken when the J and P weren't for John and Paul. Haha. Nice video, in my opinion this is the introduction everyone needs to get started in your channel, it's very easy to understand. People won't have to bing the letters anymore! 😁
I think the way you broke down J and P between decisions and observations finally helped me understand how their roles worked in cognitive functions I knew THAT they affected decisions/observations opposite of each other, but I didn't know WHY they did... it makes more sense to me now!!
I needed a video to introduce MBTI to a friend of mine. As a bona fide INTJ, not only this is how I would've explained it to her, but I absolutely love this intro: no small talk, no bullsh*t, just right to the content. Thank you!
Short, concise, to the point! Perfect, now I can send people this video instead of taking 15 minutes to explain wtf is MBTI and sounding like I'm recruiting for a sect :D
I love how you add a sense of humor to the explanation. I already knew what everything meant but i still feel like I've learned and had fun watching this video
Nice quick video FJ, I'd like to specify for anyone getting into MBTI : for the introverted types (Ixxx) the last letter (J or P) indicating what is generally shown to the ~outside~ world, their prefered and dominant function will be the *opposite* : if it's Judging, an observer function is dominant. If it's Perceiving, it'll be a decider function first. For the extroverted, no problem, the last letter tells the dominant function. So INFJ even though you see Judging at first have their dominant function as Ni, an observer, but an ENTJ has their Te as dominant. Just thought that was important to mention to get the order of the functions and the good type !
Intan HF I'm glad if I can help you out, Ni means introverted intuition ! It's not fully understood but it often means someone (like INFJs and INTJs that have it as their dominant function) would rather dive deep into a topic and really assimilate it to integrate it in their view of the world and the concepts they already own, than to try to gather a lot of information on many different topics (which gives a more shallow understanding and is more Ne, extroverted intuition). I really need to read Jung's material but from what I've heard even he wondered how we can sometimes just ~know~ something as if our unconscious did most of the work to organise concepts into a pattern, it's hard to explain but pretty uncanny how it works out most of the time !
Right, pretty well explained. A person's dominant function and the function they show up front when dealing with people are not necessarily the same thing. They are the same for extroverts, because our dominant function is our top extroverted function. But for introverts, your dominant function is introverted. So your forward facing function, the part of you people "see," is your auxiliary function, which will be extroverted. That P or J at the end points the way. Your "outside" function, if you're a P, will be a perceiving function (sensing or intuition). If you're a J, it will be your judging function (thinking or feeling). So in the example you gave, the ENTJ faces the "outside" world with his judging function, extroverted thinking, and because he's an extrovert it's also his dominant function. For an INFJ, he also faces the "outside" world with his judging function, in his case extroverted feeling. But because he's an introvert, it's NOT his dominant function. His dominant function is his introverted intuition. His "outside" world function, the part of him you see, is his auxiliary function.
@revelwoodie Exactly ! Trying to make my explanation not too long i'm afraid it wasn't as clear as it could have been hahah, but you put it in a very comprehensible way !
@@brimussy Ni means "dominant introverted intuition" -in Ni, intuition is the dominant cognitive function (the capital N) and it is introverted (the lower case i). You can liken this to a general in a tent (behind the scenes) as the main driving leading the troops. INFJ and INTJ both have Ni (dominant introverted intuition). INFJ has feeling as the extroverted function (the one you most likely see expressed), and INTJ has extroverted thinking. In these two types, the secondary function (F or T) is the one that becomes extroverted. We introverts keep our best stuff kinda hidden, perhaps adding a layer of mystery(?) -if a person has Ne, or dominant extroverted intuition, intuition is the dominant cognitive function, but it is extroverted. Thus the general is right up front and centre, as in "what you see is what you get" (not hidden from view). ENFP and ENTP both have Ne.
This video is clear, short, perfect! That way if I have to hang out with someone that doesn’t know about mbti I can just make them sit and watch this video - an intj
watching this video makes me relieved. as an infp, it's hard to limit how much you can absorb off of something that most of the time i'm taking the dose way too much so instead of treating mbti as preference, i solely based my whole life on those mere 4 letters. this video helps me to see clearly. also love your humor. keep it up 👍
Loved the P/J explanation! That was what I least understood about MBTI and as an INTJ, I always NEED to make sense of something, and that was bugging me. My youngest son is an INTP, so this explains what appears to be a chaotic way of analysing in order to make a decision. Thank you 🙏
I'm glad you mentioned that the last letter isn't really reliable in defining yourself, I've done the test multiple times and I used to get INFJ with J/P being reeally close to 50/50, and I did the test again recently and I got INFP, so it just depends on your mental state and the time period I think
I never thought I’m a therapist until that very one day, where a person who i look up the most is having a breakdown, and first thing they do is coming to me. And I did not expect to make them cry because they never,, most people who came to me ended up crying from the reality. I never have any expectations or thoughts that I can end up like this. It’s very wholesome that I can help…
Okay, are we just going to ignore the toilet roll when he said just roll with it? 😂😂😂😂😂 This was so hilarious I repeated this video 3 times in a row 😅. And I have a feeling I'll watch it again several times more when I want a good laugh 😂😂😂
I thought P was prospecting but I used to get it mixed up with Perceiving myself. Prospecting in the sense that instead of reaching a judgement, you're more likely to keep prospecting and having an open mind to it..
I've taken the test twice on one site, once on another. I've gotten INTP all three times but I'm not sure how much I agree with it. I usually hit "neutral" on most of the questions since I'm pretty bad at self evaluation and whatnot, so who knows how accurate it is lol.
Love this video, I need to show it to my mother, she's an ISFJ and I'm an ENTP, imagine our family reunion, so much fun... We all have fun, in our own way, right?
"So you're hanging out with your friends and suddenly people start talking about 16 personality, Myers-Briggs..." 😅 *I'm normally the little INFJ who starts it in my group.*
Im INFJ and my brother is INFP and it shows. Hes a disorganised and spontaneus guy whose life is a mess but hes really happy with that, his inner peace comes first and then comes the surface of life. Im more looking ahead and organized, finding peace in solutions who make everyone happy at the same time. Great video Frank keep it up.
Extrovertion/Introvertion is what side of your dominant function is in. Intuition/Sensing perceiving function and Thinking/Feeling judging funtion are what fills as dominant and auxiliary levels. Perceiving/Judging is what your extroverted dominant/auxiliary function is. This is how the 4 letters has its shorthand.
I feel I am between an INFJ and an INTJ because I always get INFJ however, I’m a critical thinker and feelings of others are important to me, but facts are also important.
I really like how James broke down the mbti peronalities whereas Objective Reality does 15 minute video lectures that don't really teach much at all. I just learned so much in 4 minutes!! Wooooowwww. Thank you so much!
Just my notes: I = Introverted E = Extroverted S = Sensing (What are the facts?) N = Intuition (What are the patterns, meanings and concepts?) F = Feeling (You decide based on whether it's good/bad, you like it or dislike) T = Thinking (Is it a logical decision? Does it make sense, is it true?) P = Perceiving (You make decisions based on what is best for you, you try to consider all observations as possible before making it, not organizing the important ones.) J = Judging (You make decisions based on what other people want, organize observations only into what is needed.) I wish there was an option for extroverted introvert, which is what I am, but I think I would be an ENFP.
I'm torn between ISTJ and ISTP. There's times where I will go full-on schedule making, and times where I don't give a shit on what to do. Times where I need to fix messes, and times where I see a mess and shrug my shoulders and walk away. Times where I'll nerd out and share every fact known to man, and times where I'll just keep it short and simple. It all depends on the place I'm in, and who I'm around.
You're probably an ISF×. I have taken the test several times over the years and always got INFP as my result and found the description of it to be 90%+ accurate for me. However, i have recently discovered that my personality has developed to include INFJ, and am functioning on both their wavelengths. 😳 Balance is key even more for me than before, now that i am an INF×. I am about to take the test again to confirm it, though i am not sure if the test i take can handle it directly, and i may have to find another quiz that accounts for 73 Personality Types 🌹 (16 Four-Letter Types, 32 Three-Letter Types, 16 Two-Letter Types, 8 One-Letter Types & 1 Zero-Letter Type.) [Zero Lettwrs is theoretically possible, so i won't dismiss it.]
@@rudragirik745 Do you mean ISTx? I'm definitely more of a thinker than feeler, if that makes sense. edit: Also took some cognitive function tests not too long ago and they all say I'm most likely an ESTP, which is strange considering I'm nowhere near being an extrovert lol
And that's just based on the Dichotomies, then once someone gets into the Cognitive Functions it becomes a different beast altogether but also the same beast at the same time.
I just shared this video with my friends and now I know they know about it and we are talking and I’m learning more about how to interact with people! Thanl you frank!

*P vs J is this* Goal: Research apples to see which one is your favorite P approach: Open 10 tabs in your web browser all about apples and read/skim through all of them and then form an opinion about the best type of apple. J approach: Look through the top 5 articles rated as the most helpful, see which one seems to be the most reliable, and read that one, then choose based on that information.
When you prefer to take more observations like the P types but also have an outward focus like the J types: "perfectly balanced like everything should be"
"I know intuition starts with an I, just roll with it...." 😂 Well, the I has already been taken so what's a person supposed to do. Make it the second letter... As an INTJ I don't want to be an IITJ, that's just weird and incovienent.
Wow! You're an INTJ female. That's cool. I have an INTJ brother but I can't imagine an INTJ girl! Well, I lied. I can imagine but I never met a girl with this type in real life. Well, have a nice day:) I checked your channel and it's so cool that you're play piano. I started to play piano recently. But you are really good at it! -an ENFP:)
I agree. II is too unclear. Also wanted to say, my brother, husband, and BFF (female) are all INTJ. It’s a very compatible type for ENFP and ENTP (me). But I didn’t realize it was a stereotype lol.
@@oleh2792 lol well, thank you. I don't think it's all that special😂 you've probably met a few female INTJs and not known it. We're not all the cold, emotionless, evil robots. We are humans who value time and energy and logic but we love our friends and family. About my piano thanks, I enjoy playing😂
Why do you make a plan if you know the plan won't work? It would be better if you make a "not too detailed plan" or "the plan has to be done no matter what it costs" - me an ISTP
I feel lucky that I landed on channels discussing the INFJ because it really fits and I knew nothing of it until a few weeks ago. It’s amazing to feel a kinship with a group of people I didn’t know about. I knew I was different but I wouldn’t trade the sometimes confusing creativity to be normal under any circumstances.
Introvert of Extravert is not always about how people socialize It's more of like, how they gain energy and socializing is just a part of it since there are extraverts who aren't really into socializing and introverts who are like extraverts (im the social sense). For instance, introvert prefer to absorb ebmergy that's why they tend to be more silent and a listener. Extravert however prefers to puts out their energy, that's why they tend to move a lot or talk a lot. So if you ask an introvert to move and socialize for the whole day without stop, it will tire them out. The same way if you ask an extravert to just stay at a corner and not do anything, it will tire them out since they have to release their energy.
Great explanation!! Im an infp but i love socialising with my friends and going out. But i get super tired after and need to recharge by myself - and thats what makes me introverted 😁
The terms introverted/extroverted are just not used like that in MBTI / Jungian psychology, although it often matches a bit. (ex. : INTJs enjoy calm and deep conversation generally, so they dislike parties. They're an introverted type that act like what most people mean by introvert) ✨
@@mariek.474 Yea i think it depends on the person - some introverts like me are algood with socialising as long as we get me/quiet time to gain our energy back, and others dont like socialising and correspond more to the common idea of what an introvert is.
This misconception is really annoying. Really, being a "judging" personality does not automatically mean you are judgemental. It's no fun when people take things on surface level, right?
Judgement is a good and useful thing in life. Using good judgement rather than impulsivity (which is what "p" types are more wont to do) is usually the wiser course of action. Perceivers also may have more difficulty actually committing to a course of action or staying the course because they are more likely to still be taking in (perceiving) information. However, p types are apparently more comfortable in unstable situations - e.g. disaster zones that require continual improvising. So, both j and p types have strengths and weaknesses and your friends are wrong to "judge" you (pun intended).

I am very glad to not be unsure about it. Big hugs to those people out there still trying to get typed accurately. It's worth the effort!
J types don’t want to take in too much observation.
INFJ: *sweats*
dude fr, it’s always like that. sometimes it happens without knowing. you can just never get a moment of peace while having an active brain running 24/7.
I'm an INTJ, and I can confirm.
Nice profile pic, by the way.
I disagree as far as I am concerned, but I agree that I think that most J types are heavily invested in prioritizing the most important information and at some point, we decide we have more than enough of the major factors to make a decision. Give us five factors that are all about 20% and we would dither, or at least I would.
I was thinking the same thing!!! I'm an INFJ too

It was heartbroken when the J and P weren't for John and Paul. Haha. Nice video, in my opinion this is the introduction everyone needs to get started in your channel, it's very easy to understand. People won't have to bing the letters anymore! 😁
Exactly 😎
I think the way you broke down J and P between decisions and observations finally helped me understand how their roles worked in cognitive functions
I knew THAT they affected decisions/observations opposite of each other, but I didn't know WHY they did... it makes more sense to me now!!
I needed a video to introduce MBTI to a friend of mine. As a bona fide INTJ, not only this is how I would've explained it to her, but I absolutely love this intro: no small talk, no bullsh*t, just right to the content. Thank you!
Short, concise, to the point!

Just thought that was important to mention to get the order of the functions and the good type !
can you tell me what Ni means? FJ says it all the time but i never understand. i thought it would be explained in this video haha
@@brimussy Ni means "dominant introverted intuition"
-in Ni, intuition is the dominant cognitive function (the capital N) and it is introverted (the lower case i). We introverts keep our best stuff kinda hidden, perhaps adding a layer of mystery(?)
-if a person has Ne, or dominant extroverted intuition, intuition is the dominant cognitive function, but it is extroverted. Thus the general is right up front and centre, as in "what you see is what you get" (not hidden from view). ENFP and ENTP both have Ne.

Loved the P/J explanation! That was what I least understood about MBTI and as an INTJ, I always NEED to make sense of something, and that was bugging me. My youngest son is an INTP, so this explains what appears to be a chaotic way of analysing in order to make a decision. Thank you 🙏

Just my notes:
I = Introverted E = Extroverted
S = Sensing (What are the facts?) N = Intuition (What are the patterns, meanings and concepts?)
F = Feeling (You decide based on whether it's good/bad, you like it or dislike) T = Thinking (Is it a logical decision? Does it make sense, is it true?)
P = Perceiving (You make decisions based on what is best for you, you try to consider all observations as possible before making it, not organizing the important ones.) J = Judging (You make decisions based on what other people want, organize observations only into what is needed.)
I wish there was an option for extroverted introvert, which is what I am, but I think I would be an ENFP.

It’s amazing to feel a kinship with a group of people I didn’t know about. I knew I was different but I wouldn’t trade the sometimes confusing creativity to be normal under any circumstances.
Introvert of Extravert is not always about how people socialize
It's more of like, how they gain energy and socializing is just a part of it since there are extraverts who aren't really into socializing and introverts who are like extraverts (im the social sense).

[Seriously, enjoy your work, Mr James].
This misconception is really annoying. Really, being a "judging" personality does not automatically mean you are judgemental.
It's no fun when people take things on surface level, right?
@@Magical_Beats Haha. Touche. :D
