You really have a gift for teaching. I loved your course with Tomorrow's Filmmakers and have been subbed to your YT ever since. Am looking forward to your newsletter!
This might be the best video I’ve seen breaking down the actual nitty gritty of sponsors and contracts. Thank you for actually showing examples of what the contracts look like and things to look out for.
Thanks for a really informative video about sponsorship. I've always been very relaxed about agreements with clients (and they with me)... so trust has been the number one characteristic of our arrangements. But I agree that a good contract is good for both parties. Time to lift my game!
This was great, thank you! I’m just getting to a stage where sponsorships mayyyybe… possssssibly… seeeeem… like they could one day become an option… so this video and your newsletter are coming at a great time for me 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
It's never too early to get into sponsorships, that's for sure! Turns out I could have been doing it when I had just 200 subs Excited to help you out through the videos and newsletters
great subject. this is the part of youtube that gets way less content than it should. a lot to unpack. i recently finished a 9 month project for a channel with 450k+ subs that publishes 2 times a week. and you hinted at or addressed the major points we talked about in team meetings every week. one thing you can talk about is agencies, also getting paid. even with a contract and a big channel, some brands just have an issue sending that check. anyway, i look forward to more from you on this general topic.
For sure, I've had my share of sending reminders to companies to get paid in a timely manner. I've certainly found ways to make it easier without having to use an agency to get that done. But there is something to be said for those who prefer using an agency to do that for them, because it can become a headache for sure!
A treasure trove of information here! Everyone should take some email training, and sales pitch practice. Take that run through chat gpt a couple times and that'll be a much better email than just whatever pops in your head. Even though that's all I did for years. Im still kinda grumpy I have to put all the work into an email lol.
Great video! Love this topic and would love to see more videos on it. Do you think a creator has leverage to ask for a reduced retainer to be paid during the competitor-exclusivity window?
It's tricky to get a company to agree to paying when you aren't making content. I'd say you find a price that works for during the time you're making content.
Curious how you'd deal with the Non-Compete clause. Ask them to specifically list the competitors? It would be dangerous to keep it open-ended because you may think a brand or product doesn't compete but they may think otherwise. Ask for more money since you have a potential limit on income? Refuse the non-compete clause entirely? Ask them to define the penalities for breaking the non-compete clause?
These are great questions! I'll address them a bit in some future content (either in the newsletter or in a video) But in short, it depends on the company, the type of work you're consistently doing and if it'll even be an issue. If it does, then there are several ways to go about making a decision.
The Ad Integration seems weird to me. Does that mean you have to go back and edit that ad out of the original video after their time is over? Otherwise they're getting free advertising for however long. I'm sure it varies but I've always wondered how that is handled
Nope, it stays in the video. That's part of what they pay for. Which is a reason why I advocate for getting paid fairly depending on many factors (popularity of the brand, your reach on RUclips, your estimated future reach, etc.). I might reply more indepthly to this comment in a future video or in the newsletter, so stay peeled for that.

Fantastic Video, Thanks =)
Hi, brave lady. I think you would look more gorgeous with long hair. So why don't you grow your hair long? If you don't mind, can I know why?
Watch this, it explains a bit: ruclips.net/video/xA7Gx5ilj0Q/видео.html
