  • We did so much off-roading during our Spring 2022 Arkansas trip, that it deserved a dedicated video.
    The V-Strom 1000 may not be the best off-roading ADV bike out there, but it's the only one we have!
    Keep an eye out for the Akransas moto-camping ADV trip for 2022.
    Some modifications that this V-Strom has that are vital:
    Dunlop Trailmax Mission Tires
    HTP Engine Skid Plate
    Front Wheel Fender Raising Kit
    ProTaper Handle Bars
    Givi Crash Bars
    Other mods that aren't required for getting lost in the woods:
    Footpeg Lowering Kit: • Lowering Footpeg Kit |...
    Rear Suspension Raising Kit
    LeoVince LV-12 Slip On: • Suzuki V-Strom 1000 Le...
    Givi Airflow
    Sit n Fly Seat Cover
    Some of the gear we used in this video:
    GoPro Hero 9: amzn.to/3luzFuc
    Microphone for GoPro: amzn.to/39I2IrD
    Microphone Adapter: amzn.to/3MzoMmN
    Media Mod Kit: amzn.to/3sNEPFG

      When off road, I turn off traction control. It makes it easier to move on loose terrain and uphills.

    See... Everyone is so critical of the vstrom that it's only a "street adventure bike". I say BS. It seems to go everywhere that the average guy would even want to go. So underrated. Cool

      I went Trail riding with a Bajaj Rouser 220.
      Seriously, what the average western ADV rider calls "off road" even a Goldwing can go

    I live in East Africa and I imported a 2018 Vstrom 1000 because of the reliability and reputation. It’ll go anywhere and take an absolute beating without any complaints. Super happy with my choice. My only gripe was the ground clearance which I improved with a 3cm suspension lift.

    • @1LiterADV
      @1LiterADV  Год назад +1

      I feel the same way about the VStrom. It’s very reliable. I too have a lift kit on the rear suspension.

    I really liked seeing a Suzuki Vstrom off road... It's hard to see in the dirt. Best regards.

    Nice vid! I have my bought new '14 Vee set up over the years for more off road yet still decent on slab. Good knobs, adjusted suspension, 14T front gear makes it a buzz saw yet still run 70 on the hwy w/o sounding like a very large bee. Good crash pro and the first skid plate made for the 14s that is so tough. It has moved more dirt and rocks than many bulldozers. I love the back country, BDRs, and been riding dirt for 50 yrs. When set up with pretty easy and economical parts,- as all vstroms are really designed to be tweaked to make them fit YOUR style of riding, it is a very capable bike. Its not a dual sport, its an adventure bike that can take you anywhere your skill levels will allow. The more aggressive you ride it the better it works. As said many times, it is not a scalpel-its a sledge hammer. It does not like to go over things as much as through them and ridden that way is pretty effective. And naturally it gets dropped regularly with it not being worse for wear with a bunch of bags with tools and stuff to help stranded riders that work as crash pro on the "accessory" bars. They are affordable, easy to set up for YOU, darn near bullet proof and just so reliable. Just turn the key and go after years of riding them with no probs spoils you.
    A really good vid on the terrain I love to ride up in the mountains- when not rolling out to the beach at the ocean! You guys did a super job showing all the bikes and having a good time with all of them. Keep doing it out there!!!
    Stay safe my friend!.

    My 2018 Strom 1000 at 540 lbs is no off road adventure bike. It just to heavy. I see you got the same results when hitting rocks getting jolted . I can only imagine what strength it would take to pick it up on the trail. It nice on the freeway but for me that that where it ends. looking at a honda 300 rally now. But thanks for the video , it confirms i need another bike .

    The Strom is more capable than people think. The problem is lack of ground clearance. I have an 08 and cannot find a heavy skid plate. Many more options for the 650.

    • @1LiterADV

      It is. But so far I haven’t been stopped from going somewhere due to clearance.

    Questions, what highway is that at the beginning and what town are you near if there is one? And why did you turn around at 6:23? Great video. I can't imagine taking my DL1000 on any part of that road. I would let my DR650 eat it up!

    • @1LiterADV
      @1LiterADV  Год назад

      In the beginning we are right off of highway 215. Just west of Yale Cemetery. The road we are getting onto is Forest Service 94453E Rd. We turned around because the trail we were on was turning into single track and was very muddy. This was some random offshoot trail from 94453E. We were also pretty worn out. If you watch our full series on this trip, you will see why we were worn out. We had some trouble unexpected adventures... Specifically in Part 2: ruclips.net/video/W59R72_cHAs/видео.html

    Apart from deep mud I find the only limitations of the Vstrom is its comparatively low height and my riding ability.

    • @1LiterADV

      Yeah the ground clearance has got me stuck a few times. But never permanently

    Did you find that lowering the pegs took anything away from cornering ability or off-road clearance in ruts?

    • @1LiterADV
      @1LiterADV  Год назад

      I lowered the pegs but I also raised the rear suspension by the identical amount. So it’s hard to say.
      I don’t think that lowering the pegs will make a significant difference. If you corner on the V-Strom, you should technically scrape your pegs before running out of tire. (In my experience)

    I'll try not to be to hard on the suksuzki, but personally, if I'm going to spend roughly 16k on a Africa Twin. I definitely wouldn't take it down a road full of mud holes. I could just see myself laying it over right in the middle of one.

    • @1LiterADV

      Thats always a fear for all riders. But in our experience, with the right crash protection, our minor tips and falls are not noticeable. There is also the used market too.

    How’s the abs? Can’t shut it off right? Is it fine going down steep loose parts?

    • @1LiterADV
      @1LiterADV  2 месяца назад

      Sometimes it can get in the way when going down loose parts. So you have to rely more on your front brakes. I always just use one finger on my front.

    Should I go for v storm or ktm adventure
    Want it for offroad

    • @1LiterADV
      @1LiterADV  Год назад

      Depending on which KTM model you are looking at, the KTM’s are normally more off-road capable than this VSTROM. Unless you are thinking about the VSTROM 800DE.

  • @Angry-Lynx

    i dont see the point...
    yes you can take vstrom for some light offroad but at that point it could also by any other road bike, naked etc ...

    • @1LiterADV
      @1LiterADV  Год назад

      The point was that it was just fun. That’s all. And to also show everyone that the VSTROM is more capable than some people think.
