Ray lewis is the ONLY linebacker to have 30 and 30. For those of you that don't know what that is, it's 30 sacks plus and 30 plus ints. He has 41.5 sacks and 31 ints. Pure monster on the field. I LOVE BALTIMORE.

Ray was the greatest defender in general thatI ever saw in all aspects. Especially during his prime! , he was the definition of unstoppable and longevity. Just a violent freak that could take over game single handed. It wasn't even fair.

Ray Lewis wasnt highly recruited out of high school he got the last scholarship at Miami, he only played because a guy got injured for the season....he never got his job back...Ray Lewis also has a lot of state records for wrestling also...his dad was a great wrestler and Ray had no relationship with his father so he made it a point to break all of his records....Ray Lewis is the greatest MIKE BACKER OF ALL TIME!!!! he wasnt sideline to sideline...he was end zone to end zone!!!!

I feel Ray Lewis is the best MLB ever. Players like Butkus were great in their era of football but the game is so much different now. It is now the MLB who sets the entire defense so if he screws it up it screws everyone. With that being said how many Ravens defenses were talked about being the best or top 5 while Lewis was there? He wasn't always even the best athlete on those defenses but his football IQ is what set him above everyone else.

When you can survive a division with Jerome Bettis, Corey Dillon, Eddie George and Fred Taylor, that's a gauntlet for any linebacker to run. Ray handled it well.
I've also reached a conclusion that there's really no such thing as a GOAT because circumstances, environments and other factors change the perception of what greatness is.

I don’t think people understand that Ray was the single smartest linebacker to ever play football. He was at the same level as manning and Brady at calling plays and audibles. No one. I mean NO ONE will ever replicate his instincts and work ethic in the film room. 98-2012 is as dominant a defensive run as you’ll see a team in football have. Appreciate greatness because Baltimore certainly misses it.

Ray was no doubt one of the best middle backers to play the game. For me, there has been few others that have dominated the middle of the defense as well. Junior Seau, Patrick Willis, Hardy Nickerson, Brian Urlacher, London Fletcher, Mike Singletary, Sam Mills, Dick Butkus, etc....list list goes on and on. I think the players around you can make you better also then the type defensive scheme that you run also helps.

The Masoko Lawrence Taylor had 132.5 sacks to Ray Lewis’s 41.5, however Lawrence Taylor only has 9 INTS to Ray Lewis’s 31, Lawrence Taylor has 1,089 tackles, to rays 2,061, Ray Lewis has 17 forced fumbles, to Lawrence’s 56, Lawrence has 3 DPOY, to rays 2 DPOY (keep in mind he was playing with Ed reed and Terrell Suggs) Lawrence has a LEAGUE MVP, and Ray Lewis has a SUPER BOWL MVP, both 2x super bowl champs ( keep in mind Ray Lewis had to play when Tom brady was playing 😭) both very good players I have a ton of respect for LT, the numbers slightly favor Ray but I think his leadership seals the deal... he lead the 2000 and 2012 ravens to those champs, and keep in mind he never had a average QB, all were shit to slightly below average, joe Flacco in the playoffs is not the same as regular season joe Flacco tho... and should have went to b2b Super Bowls if that lee guy didn’t drop a td pass 50 secs after he caught it...

My son and brothers have been big NFL fans for decades. We love arguing about our all-time dream team. Every position. The QBs, the RBs, and the LBs are the hardest. But so are the CBs and Safeties and the DEs and TEs! As a matter of fact, it's near impossible and we realize it is impossible. So let's keep it to LBs. LT, Butkus, Lewis (if Ray would be so kind as to give Butkus the MLB spot.... which he wouldn't!.... but let's say he would.). Those would be my final three. Though it makes me sick how many I'm leaving out. OK. I said it. Let's argue.

OLB and MLB are ENTIRELY different positions. It’s like comparing CB to SS, they’re both dbs but are they in the same world as far as skill sets and responsibilities? No. You absolutely can’t compare edge defender DE/OLB who plays against OTs and edge rushes regularly, to a guy who roams sideline to sideline reading and shooting all 7 gaps and covering. LT was a better player, but don’t compare them as linebackers, because just because it says linebacker doesn’t mean they play the same position. 3-4 OLB is closer to a DE than a MLB

Has a argument for the greatest defensive player ever!!

  • @BigRich1968
    @BigRich1968 6 лет назад +1

He was able to move freely and make tackles without having to defeat guards and tackles like Butkus, Lanier and Singletary had to do. Another example is Jack Lambert who had the luxury to have Joe Green and L.C Greenwood on the defensive line

Yes hes the greatest ever. Yes he was working with one of the greatest safeties of all time . And one of the greatest linemen of all time. And savage edge rushers.
But they all fed off ray.
Rays film time.. with that clicker. And the extroardinary work he put into his body.. anyone who came to his training facility and tried his regimen.. were throwing up all over the place.
    Yeah hes the goat.

Butkus was better. Lewis was surrounded by stars while Butkus played on some of the worst defenses of all time.

Are there guys who are at the hotel who DON'T get the knock at the door? If so, why invite em, and where's the film at of them NOT getting the knock at the door. The "inside the room" video tape.

Ray Lewis ended, killed, straight up murdered the game..well actually he was a key piece or accomplice on that 2000's murdering defensive ravens team

Nope that would go to Dick Butkus...if Butkus played in this era with the technology and training the played have today he would be head and shoulders above anybody else by far NUFFSAID!!

Lies he wouldn't be able to run with these tight ends today or survive in the passing league. Shit he probably would Be taken off the field on 3rd down.

Do we consider Junior Seau a Mike backer? I think Ray is the best MLB of all time. Im a bigger fan of Sam Mills. I think Patrick Willis would be a highly arguable choice if he played another 6 years injury free. Also, another person that would've been in the conversation had it not been for injuries is Dan Morgan

Greatest MIKE? One of the greats. There's still Butkus. Willie Lanier. Mike Singletary. Harry Carson. I will say he and Brian Urlacher dominated their era.
Personally, I would take Urlacher. People underestimate how much of a physical freak he was as a MIKE. I can do things with Urlacher that I couldn't do with Lewis. Even in Ray's memoir, he told Marvin Lewis as a rookie he couldn't play WILL (Pepper Johnson was starting at MIKE).

I'd say its more of Butkis vs Lewis. In a more pass oriented league Lewis would be more valuable, but Butkis was the only one making tackles in that poor 70's bears team.
