      Thank you, Caryl. This is one of the worst I've found so far, and I'm working double-time to make sure the authorities have everything they need to go deeper.

    I got something like that a while back. Someone sent me a check for $2,000 to be a mystery shopper and I took it to my bank at the time and had them check into it and they contacted me a few days later and told me that it wasn't legit. I am very leery about that anymore. The bank took care of it.

      Internet-enabled scammers are truly dangerous! Glad you and your banker's got ahead of it!

    I received 2 checks with instructions. I was not expecting them. boy they could have been real... I took them to the bank and they told me it was a good thing I did not deposit them. They took the checks to investigate and I never heard anything. But they did say this is a scam.

    Another awesome video! As someone who teaches ESL students, it could also be that the person whose written English is good at texting spent some time at some point in an English-speaking country or went to school in one so this is why their level might be higher in written English. I get a lot of students whose written enough is very good but when you get them in conversation, you start to hear the errors. So if person 2 isn't someone who is in the US, it might be someone like that.

    These victims are also committing banking fraud, which is a Federal crime as well as postal fraud. You don’t want to spend time at Club Fed

    I was waiting for the denoument. I expected you to receive the prepaid labels and use them to mail warnings to the victims that they were being scammed. Is that what you did?

    • @ratracerebellionworkfromhome
      @ratracerebellionworkfromhome  6 месяцев назад +1

      Letters have been sent to the 80 people who are expecting the fake checks. They should have received them today, or perhaps tomorrow for those further to the west!
      We didn't use the USPS prepaid labels as I suspect they were purchased with a stolen credit card and I don't want to be a part of that. Instead, we sent regular letters to everyone.
      Please feel free to email scam@ratracerebellion.com if you think your name was on the list!

      I knew that when the scammer realized I hadn't sent the checks those folks would get them from someone else. The way, they'll be aware of what's really happening!
