    You’re gonna hate it when you have to replace your ceramic rotors. $20K US dollars for a full set, it including labor. This is why most people run steel rotors on the track.

    Track days are expensive due to the wear and tear on a car. I have a 2010 911 C4S Cab, and I get through a set of tires and brake pads every 500 track miles (at PCA DE events). ie. A set of brake pads and tires last me two weekends.

    Hi James, don't suppose you'll see this so long after posting but I for one love track content and this was awesome to see. I didn't even know you went to track days! And I didn't think my estimation of you could go any higher 😜
    It's awesome and very humbling seeing that whole process of working on the art of it all, on your race line, breaking timing, skill in passing others etc. and it would be great to show the kids that think they're The S**t because they got a good laptime on a video game...?
    But I also love the fact that you don't necessarily need to be rich to do it. At some tracks you can hire a super light weight race car or even buy one for under ten thousand quid. Or maybe that's just the US?
    Anyway, love this and please keep 'em coming!

  • @hpkntnw

    It is amazing that Porsche can make that engine stay together for as long as they do. 9,000 rpm means that crankshaft is making 150 complete revolutions every second. Even at 6,000 that’s 100 revolutions every second!!

    O just wait till you have to change those rotors. Itll easily cost close to $20k.
    Trust me, if you are going to track your car often, its smarter to run steel brake set up with nice quality race pads.
    Ceramics actually makes more sense, if you are mostly daily driving it due to lack of brake dust and longevity (as long as its not being put through trackday conditions, these rotors should last for long time)

    • @nickholbrook3454
      @nickholbrook3454 4 года назад

      Or get some Surface Transforms oem replacement Carbon Ceramic discs.
      Half the price of the official pccb discs but due to having a better heat range last a lot longer - you can also run track orientated pads without worrying about killing your discs.
      I saw threads on rennlist that suggests you retain all the benefits of pccb along with the life and costs of steels and none of the downsides.
      Not a bad clientele either - Singer, Koenigsegg and now Aston Martin (on the Valkyrie) are all using ST Carbon discs

    • @yooseemotoringchannel3357
      @yooseemotoringchannel3357 4 года назад

      @@nickholbrook3454 ST rotors still cost $13k . nice steel rotors should cost around $3k. thats still 1/4 of the price.
      unless you are running endurance races (99% of 911 owners do not), simple steel rotors w/ track pads is still a better option imo.

    Great video. GT3 sounds amazing and goes to show the quality of engineering which leads me on to the brake pads. Yes expensive but you get what you pay for. If you can afford a car north of £100k and run it on track than €1800 for pads is relative. Good luck.

    the thing about ceramic brakes is that they surely do last longer, but when it's gonna be time to change the disks oh boy! I've heard Porsche will ask around 20k for a pair.. And that's why some GT owners who track a lot actually go for the steel option
