Ordered 7 patches and a burzum backpatch the other day, wanted to get them on quick so I used a sewing machine. It was a lot more difficult than hand sewing
How is making a patch vest a poor reason to sew? At least he’s a guy who wants to sew, I’ve gotten tons of compliments on my vest, simply because I’m a dude who sews.
Been sewing patches and studding my various vests by hand for decades...I'm 47 by the way. The battle vest is a pure DIY experience and a reflection of your inner self. Keep up the great work brother.
Damn I got to get around to putting more on my vest, but I guess I'm kind of old school about it, generally I won't put a patch on unless I've seen a band live and I loved seeing them, but if it's a band I'll never be able to see live like Bathory I'll go ahead. \m/ keep on headbanging. Pure Holocaust is probably my favorite Immortal album tied with Diabolical Fullmoon Mysticism.
I think you mean RazorRay trust me - it's worth the wait! I've gotten four from him so far - Patti Smith, Type O Negative, The Lost Boys and Stranger Things Season 2 (per my sister's request).
U should make a video showing pictures of our battle vest/jackets, it'll be a cool video to see what we did to represent and u saying what u think about them🤘
I just wanted to say I've been watching some of your videos about sewing and stuff I've been working on a battle jacket battle vest and I've been sewing myself like you but I watch your video and saw some ways that you've been doing it this different than how I do it and I decided to try the way that you do it and it seems to be working much better than what I've been doing so I just wanted to say good job with the double stitching and how you tied the knot off at the end so stop saying all the bad habits you have you know cause some of them are actually better than what I was doing.
I have a denim jacket with the sleeves cut off (we didn't call them battle vests back then) that I have had since 1987. My aunt had a sewing machine and she put my Exodus Bonded By Blood back patch and it was perfect. It felt like the patch was already part of the vest. I can't fit into it anymore and I have it over my old black leather motorcycle jacket. I did this to try to look like Mille Petrozza from Kreator. The Guns N Roses became popular and people thought I was trying to look like Slash. That was insulting to me. A couple of years later I was on a date and I showed her my room and she saw a Kreator picture on my closet door and she pointed to Mille and asked me if that was me. I told her who it was and she said he looked like me. She ended up being my girlfriend
I'm collecting patches not in a hurry, really enjoy sewing one by one onto my jacket and there's always so much to expect. Prefer to pin the patch on whrere I'm to sew it, it helps to prevent it from wrinkleing. And I use sergical sewing needle (they are shaper andarched, which means more efficiency).
One thing I like to do is have a nice piece of cardboard under the surface. That way I can smooth out the surface while Im going in with the needle so it's through. Helps me keep things straight as well. it's tough to do on a hard surface under because you cant push the needle through without lifting the fabric, which sometimes gets shit crooked or bubbled up under the patch. Especially useful on the main back patch or front where y9ou don't want to sew through pockets.
Sewing machines are a pain in the ass! Fortunately my middle school had a home economics class and my teacher taught me to sew, bake and cook a bit. I use to hand draw patches with horror movie logos and old spook show sayings to make horror vests back in the day, my style is alot less busy these days but I love watching other people making vests!
I have been planning on making a vest of just all small to regional bands to show support for local music also I think that there is going to be another huge wave of Florida death metal bands becoming huge in the next 3-5 years because of what I've seen in the local venues around the state the last few years
I recently got a lot more patches for a new vest that I’m doing which is black and death metal. I have about four Mayhem patches on it and a lot of people have given me crap for it but I think you can never get enough of one band!
I have a sewing machine but my backpatch has been being a pain to get on. Even pinning it on is not foolproof. That patch went on crooked twice and with it having more stitches, it’s a lot of trouble to get off. I need to hand sew it on and then machine sew it . I hand sew the ones I might take off someday if I get better patches, much easier to get off. Also, if I’m not sure how I will like it, I will hand sew it and see how I like it. The only hard part about getting a sewing machine is not using the money you saved to get more metal stuff lol!
WOOHOO 200th like ^_^ \m/ nice video as always :) don't ever let some one tell you , you can't do anything ! that's awesome you found some one to help you ! I'm self taught on a lot of stuff myself too . Take care ~ candy
great battle vest. I also need this bathory patch, one of the best metal albums of all time. Same goes for "de mysteriis dom satanas" by Mayhem, I need this patch too.
The tomato pin cushion xD Should bleach it to an orange hue and call it a pumpkin :D Sewing machines can be a real bitch to figure out, so I wouldn't necessarily get one for the simple task of putting patches on a vest. But dude, if you want to at least learn ONE thing about sewing to break your old habits, please start to do a stitch in one go (needle halfway through the fabric, then back up again to make a stitch) cause watching you put your hands in and out of the vest from under the backside for every stitch is painful to watch xD
I currently have a battle vest that I keep adding to. I have a question that as a guitarist would you keep the shoulder that has the strap empty or would you put studs or patches on it? I'm just worried that if I put studs on the strap will knock them off or if I out patches down people won't see them. Thoughts?
Iron-on is only useful if you don’t like to pin you shit before sewing and want to keep it in a very specific, difficult spot. Yeah, it’s a bitch to get the needle through after, but at least you have your shit secured before applying life insurance (sewing) to the jacket/vest.
Okay, question. On average, for patches that you own that are square shaped, how big are they? Usually, the patches I find are 4x4 inches; I feel that this is kinda big, but I'm thinking maybe it feels that way to me because my vests are smaller in size. Finding patches that feel "right" in size is kind of difficult, because most that I find are 4x4. I just wanna keep my vests as efficient as possible when it comes to available space.
They thought it was a stupid reason to learn how to sew.. so they refused to teach you? LOL. I'd be elated if anyone in the modern world made the effort to get off their device and had ambition enough to come inquiring about a new skill or trade. You'd think one would be eager to pass their knowledge and experience along to anyone who's willing to learn, especially for the sake of saving the many, "dying" arts and hobbies. Anyway, love your sewing videos, as always!
It’s only alright if you got some sort of handicap like Parkinson’s or a fucked up eyesight. Assuming you’re going for quality, you pretty much need much whatever that restricts hand-eye coordination before getting someone else to do it, but you’ll be more 100x more metal doing it yourself vs the normies with functional body parts.
hey blackmetalwerewolf quick Question, Pretty new metalhead (male) wanted to ask what you think of metalheads wearing rings what would you say yes or no
mister ZyruS Rings are perfectly acceptable. I wear a stainless steel bottle opener ring. It’s stylish, useful, and cheap as fuck. I even noticed one of the guys from Sabaton wearing them.
Hey man question for you, any idea how the fuck am I supposed to sew a patch on a pocket without blocking it? Please don't tell me I have to cut the pocket open first.
I love this channel so much. Your content is great
Nuke smash so fuckin true
hey thanks man!!! just got some patches and had no idea how to do it!!
Ordered 7 patches and a burzum backpatch the other day, wanted to get them on quick so I used a sewing machine. It was a lot more difficult than hand sewing
Mr. Graves The actual vest is pretty bad made, I would get a new one and add the patches I already have but denim is hard to find
I have a sewing machine and prefer to sew my patches on by hand.
Lol I have that same tomato looking needle holder.
I put sowing pins in the tomato and the needle in the little chili.

I find using a curved needle easier than a straight one
Can you pls tell me whats that song in intro, I absolute love it

I can’t decide if I should cut of the sleeves for my battle jacket. Should I do it?
I’m going to see Iron Maiden in like three months I can’t wait but reminded me of them idk why yeah lol

I go to the same store all the time in the falls! (Called rock world)
I'm gonna start my own jacket soon, instead of a blue denim vest or a leather jacket, I'm gonna try a black denim jacket.
Hel Räiser I got a black denim vest, looks fucking brutal.
You're probably better at sewing than I am, and it's weird because both of my grandmothers would often sew, but they never taught me how to
Vagenis
Edit: what do you think about stapling patches?
Veganas
Probably not the best method. Just sew em its not hard and is the most reliable way of doing the job
wanna do a a fan mail opening?
Have you tried iron on?
It works really good!
It does not come off if you do it right.
Nah it comes off in a pit m8
Iron-on is only useful if you don’t like to pin you shit before sewing and want to keep it in a very specific, difficult spot. Yeah, it’s a bitch to get the needle through after, but at least you have your shit secured before applying life insurance (sewing) to the jacket/vest.
