    I followed your steps & sewed patch successfully . My sewing kit is on the cheap side . I broke my needle at the eye with thimble half way through . I Got a new needle & tied the knot & continued . I had barley enough thread to tye one knot once completed so I knotted some more thread to the end of finished thread to make two more knots through the fabric & thread to secure patch . I got some good practice on that one patch . One heck of a sewing teacher you are my dear . And yes cute kitty , very cute .

  • @guitarmemoir
    @guitarmemoir 5 лет назад +5

    I did it!
    I was 1/2 way finished and I realized I didn't have the patch straight, so I had to take it off and start again. But I got it right the second time. I stabbed myself three times,but by the end I was starting to watch out for my fingers a bit more. Now I am going to sew on a few more. :-)
    You make it look way easier than it is. The way you handle the thread is masterful, it is much more difficult than one would think. Tactile nightmare for me.

    As a dude who usually asks my mom to do this thing I say thanks! I thought this might be easy enough to mess with since years ago I did a bit in school. It totally looks like something I can do! I tried my hand at a sewing machine but messing with the "timing" of the top and bottom thread was to much my patience.
    I'm going to put a patch on my new jacket where my dog ripped it. My mom sewed it but said a patch would hide it well. I got a patch of the place I volunteer at that helps find homes for stray/abandoned dogs. So it's fitting without being to hip for my style lolol. Super helpful with the needle knot. I would have just gathered the two threads and tied them in a knot. Lol. The part about finishing it by grabbing some of the fabric for the knot was extremely helpful also. I wouldn't have done that.
    Now just to fight with my generic Carhartt insulated winter jacket. The blue jean jacket you have looks much easier to work with lol. I'm guessing I just have to go through the insulation not just work on the outside of the fabric.......(I might call a local seam stress and ask that specifically. Hopefully I can get some free advice 🤞) UPDATE:The local seamstress said just go through the top layer it's plenty thick enough. Going through all of it will be stronger but they said the top thick fabric would work! Cool they gave free advice!
