The crazy thing is that the Twitch Chat portfolio outperformed the S&P 500 in 2022, which is considered a safe index for long-term investing and used as a benchmark for comparing how portfolios and funds perform. Twitch chat portfolio had a return of -18% but the S&P 500 had a return of -19.6% in 2022. It could be fun to let the portfolio ride or have twitch chat reallocate assets each year and see how it stacks up over time.

As a guy who keeps an eye on stocks, I was cracking up seeing the ones chat chose. Netflix tried to crack down on password sharing, people got pissed at Nvidia for cooperate greed, Hasbro tried to get rid of the open license for D&D, etc. DougDoug really chose one of the worst years and chat chose some of the worst companies for investment.

doug's mom sounds pretty normal for the person that made both doug AND davey, the two most insane men i've ever watched
This was absolutely hilarious to watch knowing what was about to happen with some of these companies. Like Hasbro has just been rocked with awful stories and has plummeted, Netflix has blown both their legs off, and Putin exists. I was laughing my ass off at Chat’s misfortune.
It's quite good knowing what's about to happen with some of this companies, but we all do not have to depend on a particular company to help us make some Cash.
I suggest we could make our own money through investment. I took that decision a year ago, i can proud boast of my portfolio.

I once did this at school (fake money) and every month we would check what the prices of our stocks were at. My group went from 10k to 1k.

I don't believe they crashed the stock market. Just reddit invested in what most "professional" financial advisors thought was a failing stock. They got pissed and complained. Robinhood to appease the actual people who make them money froze the stock.
To be clear, Robinhood made money by letting people trade for free, then selling the buying trends of their users. Their users didn't make them money; they were the product.

Hasbro wanted to revoke the OGL which would make 3rd party content (homebrew) belong to Hasbro, or at the very least they can take a cut of the profits. This, of course, made everyone upset. DnD beyond subscriptions were withdrawn, people started looking at different ttrpgs if it fully went into effect, even the dnd movie is now not looking good because of this. There was confirmation they won't revoke the ogl but the damage has been done
