The thing I like about Doug’s videos is that the first five or six minutes are spent setting up what the video is supposed to be about while Chat just speaks mindlessly away, so it makes the setting up period actually enjoyable and humorous to watch

I love how the second Doug started contact juggling, chat stopped shitposting and was distracted like a bunch of toddlers with jangling keys.
It reminded me of one of his older streams (I think it was Peggle?) where he told chat how distractible they were by holding up a quarter and saying, "Look! A quarter!" and the chat was flooded with "shiny!".
Kinda surprised that didn't come up when he showed off the novelty one, now that I think about it.

My wife divorced me in 2016 after I spent half our life’s savings on fidget toys. But after seeing this video, I can truly say that it was worth it to see Doug make a tier list 6 years later.

My personal favorite and most USEFUL fidget toy for my ADHD is the ONO Roller (two rolling bar thingy)!! It comes in a slightly smaller version which is perfect bc the original version was to big to maneuver with my small ass hands. It’s also totally silent so I use it all day every day in class and it genuinely helps me focus better! And you actually CAN do some variations with the movements! First of all you can roll it with both hands, but my favorite alternative move is to roll it up and down the top of my thigh while I’m sitting in my desk, so that I get to feel both the smooth rolling on my hand and the way it glides across my leg!!

You can get small ones!!! They are much preferable and can be fun to just squeeze or make shapes with.
I just found my rotating rings again after losing them, and I can again confirm that Doug is entirely wrong. You gotta flip them in your hand, and the rings rotate around the rubber bit so smooth. It's so good.

My dad is a sales rep for electronics companies and he used to get a lot of “sample boards” from manufacturers of button prototypes and he would give them to me. They basically were just a bunch of different types of buttons on a board (sometimes hooked up to LEDs) and i would play with them for so long. It was actually helpful for him too bc he would see which buttons would hold up best, and which were the most user friendly. Best fidget toy S tier
In my high school robotics club, there was a custom controller in the back from 2013 or so. Everyone on the team knew it, as the one with the clicky buttons or just "the thing with the buttons". Absolute S tier fidget toy. Shame doug didn't review it.

The Pour Fellas is one of many edit consortiums to combine editing talents into one, 2 liter hip flask, but unfortunately such flasks cost the equivalent of the GDP of the sun, so they’ve been forced to rely on donations to construct it themselves. They’ve been doing well, I’ve heard, gotten at least 6 editors into a 50 mL beaker!

If you want an evolution of the folding of the infinity cube, I would highly recommend Shashibo. It’s a cube made of a bunch of connected pieces with magnets in them that can fold into all kinds of different shapes. It gets even better with multiple since many of the shapes fit into each other.

It's the ability to program with the Twitch API that helps him out a lot. Being able to interact in such was as Doug shows off leads to some great moments (see: when Doug was doing a peggle speedrun tourny, went AFK and let Twitch chat take control, Twitch chat groups together to select magic hat, then proceeds to click on Doug's steam, unfocusing peggle)

I have to admit, I bought the magnetic rings. They are really fun to use, and while they do fall around, it's most fun to separate them and recombine them. Best fidget toy I've had that isn't too loud. I do love clicky stuff, but they get too loud. So the rings are fun to use with a small click that doesn't bother people when in college classes

One of my favorite things about Doug's videos is that you never know what will happen in them. The video is about fidget toys but the first 3 minutes are spent on Twitch chat learning to speak.

Knowing Doug, the last thing I expected from this video was a genuine well explained breakdown of fidget toys, and somehow Doug still manages to catch me off guard by doing exactly what was in the title
The magnetic beads can be really cool tho, just take only two and hold them slightly apart in one hand and throw them in in the air (it makes a fun sound).
Also kneaded erasers are awesome to fidget with, they are like putty but less messy and they feel soft (like smooth texture wise), and don’t leave any residue on stuff (also doesn’t stick easily).

ADHDer and anxiety man here, definitely agree with your takes. My favorite is the admittedly very loud "fidget atom" which is basically a bunch of plastic orbs attached through a center with elastic cords. Nothing like an actual atom, but it moves super well in the hand and you can futz with it both unfocused or focused.
As someone with The Tism this video was both helpful and relatable!

The “blank” side of the fidget cube is meant to be a worry stone, which is arguably one of the most og “fidget toys” of all time. Also, Doug, if you have a PO box, I can send you some of the fidget toys that I’ve been making w/ beads. I started making sets of Greek worry beads w/ silicone beads, bc I wanted a quieter fidget toy.
EDITS: 6:30 There’s a similar spinning FT (w/out the ball in the middle) on Etsy that’s 3D printed to resemble a biblical angel. 8:00 That one might work better as a fiddlestick, idk.
