They weren't ready to face the truth about tech and AI. It's a known thing in artificial intelligence that basically trying to predict any sort of open system (ie stock market) is almost completely impossible. That is; it is nearly impossible to predict the price of any given stock and any AI you make will most likely not beat literally guessing "today will be the same as yesterday was." So what I'm saying is, yes, random selection will beat just about any AI or algorithm you use. This is not financial advice.
@@META_mahnNo, if the AI is consistently performing worse than the market. You can just avoid buying the stock it predicts and buy everything else and you will consistently perform better.
Generally, even "professional" economic analysts and advisors (I:E people who advise what stocks to buy and sell) don't perform any better than random guessing. The economy is pretty much just luck, and stock people are like, glorified wine tasters.
Remember, We all know for a reason that there's a wallstreet better watched this video and told one of his colleagues "hey, this fish outbought you on stock"
I think animals are now regularly outperforming major brokers. There's been at least one other case with a cat who picks with cat toys placed on newspaper and I think there's one with a... hamster maybe? It actually holds up a study from Sweden in which chimpanzee's narrowly outperformed college (maybe even graduate) students when it came to knowledge of world events.
I think the deal with WSB is that it's very important WHEN they buy and SELL. Definitely not a steady investment portfolio, but can make a big profit on a lucky gamble.

I love how incredibly wholesome the ending is, that Frederick was able to make enough money for himself and Michael purchasing quality of life improvements for his tank.
I’m pretty sure every time researchers put an animal against the market, they end up out performing the average. Monkeys, a herd of cows, chickens, mice have all done it
You had one miscalculation here: Frederick needed the ability to also SELL stocks, not just buy them. That way, he could properly rake in the big bucks.
Yeah, I was worried he would treat Fredrick more like a plant or decoration than a pet like some people do and/or just get rid of him after the video was over. It's good to see him actually being cared for properly.
The funny thing is that Fredrick, a single goldfish, is outperforming and entire subreddit. And a wholesome note is that Michael made $1000 from this and put it right back into keeping Fredrick happy and healthy :)
The example "good post" shows everything you need to know to understand why it's doomed to fail: If you buy in when someone brags about having made a lot of money, you are destined to buy in at peaks. This would probably cause you to lose a lot of money.
I wonder how much money he would've made if instead of buying stocks considered by the algorithm to be positive, buying just the ones considered to be negative.
The funniest part is that the "random bullshit" strategy for stock picks outperforms any armchair (or even proffesional) stock broker and it was demonstrated time and time again, but still people try to find a way to pick stocks on human behaviour (sentiment analysis). The last 3 years I picked stocks by radnom bullshit and I have 23% ROI, which maybe isn't the best, but it outperfomed many proffesional analysis.
I love how Michael spent the money earned by Frederick to upgrade his tank and the rest of the money was given to the pet store where he bought Frederick.
@@emoticonmen The store wouldn't be up and running if it didn't turn a profit. I don’t see anyone mentioning it, but Michael describing the fish “algorithm” as “it tracks analyst movements” was such a good joke
I completely missed the genius in that line thanks for clearing it up. Honestly i wonder if he made it real thing for people to invest in and he was sued for it but used that exact line as a disclaimer and put the analysts name (frederik - species: fish) somewhere in the fineprint, would the suit against him make it? Probably yeah but i think it would be hilarious if people lost money to a fish, tried to get it back in court and failed because there weren’t any false promises made since movement was literally being tracked.

@@merakfirgun1071 I mean I hope the cashier pocketed it, cashier could use it more than the owner of the store
@@merakfirgun1071 I mean, Micheal said "You can keep the rest." So I hope he did.
@@bradyjordan4639 fish stores aren’t profitable at all so I hope the owner got some
@@emoticonmen The store wouldn't be up and running if it didn't turn a profit. There are always big contracts for these kinds of stores where they provide a large number of fish to decorate a big tank for a big client, the rest of the money is made from selling the expensive equipment necessary to keep people's pet fishes alive for more than 1 week.
Coming back to this is amazing 😭 Fredrick knew what he wanted and he got it
One day one of these silly ideas is actually gonna make you a millionaire Michael
Being a millionaire is one of the main reasons he's able to do these ideas LMAO
that or he blows up half of california
still a good outcome though
He already is. He’s reached 1 million subs on Twitch and each sub is $5. He 100% gets more than $2 for each sub (I have no clue how twitch financials work)
Pretty sure all these silly ideas together have already made him a millionaire
@@snakevenom4954 that's not possible. He might have a million followers but definitely not a million subs. The record isn't even over 500k
I love that Michael brought in some more serious business folks. Just dressing up the 2 stock trading ideas, avoiding the most ridiculous parts, and then revealing the ridiculousness of the idea at the end as if it were no big deal. Leaves everyone flabbergasted and was absolutely hilarious to watch.
And the guy in the pet store who will wonder for the next couple of years what the hell happened that day and who Frederick is.
Haha fish go brrrrrrrr
@@SaHaRaSquad Or he’ll find the video and laugh his ass off. Either way.
you call those people in the hype house serious business folk? 😂 theyre an absolute joke, ive been to visit one sponsored by google and all the business ideas were absolute jack shit dumb, most had something to do around some kind of custom clothing that has literally no legs, the management use them as a product and rise them of money to "live and work" in the nice house, they're dipshits, you dont need anything like that to start your own business its just a massive waste of money.

I hope you made a lot of stock bros very angry with this video
