WHY you’re not SLINGING IT! // It’s so EASY!!

  • In this short video I talk about the BIGGEST reason that 85% of golfers can’t SLING the club head to SUPERCHARGE their club head speed!
    It’s the silent killer in GOLF! The thing I see most often when giving lessons. The thing that most golfers aren’t aware of, have never thought about and rarely fix!!! And, that thing is EXCESSIVE TENSION!!!
    When we grip the club too tightly - All we FEEL is the GRIP!! Any connection to the weight of the club head is lost!! If you can’t FEEL The CLUB HEAD you can’t SLING IT!! Not only that, your arms will move SLOWLY and you’ll never transfer speed to the end of the golf club!
    When you understand the correct GRIP PRESSURE you should feel at address. And, how you should maintain that same grip pressure throughout the golf swing it’s going to have an immediate positive effect on your golf swing!!
    Remember the golf swing is simply a SLINGING MOTION on an INCLINED TILT! It’s a marriage between the vertical movement of the ARMS and the rotational, horizontal movement of the BODY! Most recreational golfers have so much tension in the joints of their WRISTS, ELBOWS and SHOULDERS that they switch off their ARM SPEED altogether!
    Slow ARMS mean a SLOW CLUB HEAD!!! So get to work on releasing that excessive tension! I KNOW it’s going to make a HUGE difference!

    This is the toughest thing with the grip, making sure it’s firm so you don’t lose the club, but too much you feel that shoulder tension.
    And when you find that sweet spot WOW!

    Great video. The slinging concept is very helpful for me. Quiet the body down in transition and get the club moving down on plane. It works.

    This sounds great in principle. I've tried slinging the club but hit behind the ball often...very frustrating. I feel my right hand is constantly trying to overpower my swing motion.

      You’re likely conflating your wrists with your arms!! Have a look at this video ⬇️ I’m hoping it will help you understand the role of the arms! Especially the lead arm - It has to work forward and come off your chest through the ball. It’s also essential that you “allow” your arms to employe your body dynamics!! A lot of people hit at the ball which freezes your dynamics. Low point never moves forward etc. Best, A. 🏌️‍♂️⛳️🙏🏻

    The old masters had it right, they realized how tension destroys a golf swing, tension slows everything and keeps you from releasing your hands and body, the snap and jump up is essential to a powerful swing. Good job A.

    You are on a roll Coach! Do you find that mid-size grips help or hurt tension? (Regardless of change in swing weight or concerns about limiting vibration at the cost of "feel")

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  Месяц назад

      David, if you’re a L/XL glove size then midsize for sure! But midsize isn’t well suited to golfers with smaller hands - They won’t be able to actuate the club! Bottom line - Find what works best for you!

    How do you consistently get the arms/club to decelerate so the hands and clubhead release and sling through? Do the closed shoulders automatically do that? Thx Andrew.

      @AndrewEmeryGolf  15 дней назад +1

      You have to dis-associate your arms from the spin phase in the transition. Swing the club head and you’ll create more speed with less effort! Allow your body to respond and you’ll be more consistent.

    I've been working on dropping the hands and from last parallel when I start to sling I feel like I don't strike it well and thin and top the ball. When I feel I release earlier than last parallel I strike it better. Any thoughts what might be going on? Thanks for the video

    Hi Andrew, I like your teaching method similar to Manuel Le da Torre with a little bit more detail.
    With your swing fundamentals is there a problem if the left arm is on or below the shoulder line
    Kind regards

    • @AndrewEmeryGolf
      @AndrewEmeryGolf  Месяц назад +2

      No Sir, a lot of people don’t have the mobility to elevate their arms correctly! The trick is not spinning the body in transition. Allow your arms to employe your body, feel like your shoulders face the ball at impact and don’t drag the handle! Save the ‘supported’ release for pitches, and punch shots.
