"If you don't build your dreams, then someone else will hire you to build theirs." - so true
i don't think everybody's dream is building something.
Maybe building dreams is the problem. What if it’s better to live in the moment and be satisfied with just enough?
@@helloalanframe It depends, if a person lives better than you thanks to your work, takes the merits and earns more money than you, when you are the one who promoted their dream, and suddenly you go through a difficult stage in your life, that person you helped build their dream will not be affected; It will do well, while you will be left regretting why you didn't invest that energy in yourself, instead of "feeling satisfied" and saying to yourself, "I have enough with this."
There is also the situation of investing all your effort and energy in the dream of someone else, someone who shares your same vision but has more resources to realize it. However, you are actually working towards THEIR dream, and if this person ultimately doesn't fulfill it, all your work is wasted, thus wasting valuable time from your life.
@@ElitePortraits this is what I have in my mind these past few weeks, I am unemployed right now and been looking for jobs but this thought keeps entering in my mind. I don't want to work for anybody else, I want to work on my own dream and that is to establish anything that I can call my own because that's what you call an investment in the future.
@@helloalanframe That’s good for YOU. Not everyone wants “just enough”.
I just left my job this week, I'm scared of my future, but I'm currently happy that I left. A hugeee baggage was removed from my back. WE CAN DO THIS!!
I just left my job 2 days ago after going back and forth mentally for an entire year if it would be a good idea to quit or not. I struggled mentally, spiritually, and emotionally for an ENTIRE YEAR! On a whim with absolutely no backup plan, I walked out in the middle of my shift. I have a little anxiety about what the future holds but MAN so much weight has been lifted off of my shoulders. I feel ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! I actually feel like I'm alive again. I resonate with you. We can definitely do this. Cheers to the future!
@@lisaanicoleeI also just did this like two days ago lol!! ❤ to us leaving for a better future!!! 🎉
@@itskrystalart yes love. We've got this ❤️
Omggggg I’m about to be you 🙄
Yes you can!
"stress is expensive". AMEN. stress will make you pay one way or another
this video is a copy paste format. I saw the same story on video and the channel owner had more subscribers.
Definitely! Health is wealth and health is something people can't fake
This is exactly my situation. I bought a car because I thought it could motivate me to stay in the job I hated. I go out every weekend and be happy for a day until Monday comes again. I always have a mental break down before I start working. My attitude changed so much it affected my relationship with my husband. I always vent and lash out at him. I quit my job this month even if it meant my income would be cut in half and even if I lost a friend because of that decision. I no longer care if I lose the car I just bought. It's just not worth it. I decided to just live simply with a peace of mind.
Glad that your living a more meaningful live now, glad that you have more time to spent with your family and friends because that is what matters the most in life.
You are lucky you even have the privilege to quit and still not have some income coming in. I dont get the people who complain about working 9-5 then quitting when they have the opportunity to do just that yet have a safety net cushion to fall back on aka here your husband. Hopefully youre treating you husband better now since you can take a break and they cant for the time being and you didnt mention anything about after quitting and improvements in the relationship
Left my 9-5 in January 2024 and I will NEVER look back.
How are you going about it
did you have a plan? money saved? just curious
Hope you’re well, I think people would like an update :)
I quit my job 5 months ago, also without any 'real' plan. I'm also turning 29 in 2 months. Thank you for encouraging people to keep going and not losing faith! Greetings from Greece!
thank you for watching :) I visited Greece last year, it was so beautiful I loved it! I would love to visit again!
Good luck !
But what about the reality that no one is telling you? That it's so hard to make money outside of regular job.
You're super young! 20's and 30's is a great time to take a chance on yourself
"I couldn't handle the gap between my dreamy weekend and the reality."
This resonates with me sooo much, which is why I finally decided to resign a few days ago. Watching your video makes me feel like I definitely did the right thing. Thank you so much for sharing your journey! It's such an important message. ❤
thank you so much ❤ I'm so happy to hear that my message and story resonated with you :)
@@solarydays I agree, I’m very privileged to be born in Japan and have this type of problem. I’m grateful for that everyday.
Just wanted to mention that my starting salary was $1600/mo in 2019, and my parents have nothing to do with my career as they are in education field. anyways, thank you for watching! :)
I m on the same boat
so you resigned and now how much money do you make?
@@royharper2003 I make a little money from my side hustle, which I actually like and I'm hoping to have more time for it now without the fultime corporate job. I'm also in a very privileged position, I admit - I'm debt free, and I managed to save enough money for situation like this (6 month emergency fund), so I can take time to find a job that I'd enjoy and that wouldn't destroy my mental health.
Also, I realised that my "dreamy weekend" means time in the nature, chill mornings and breakfast with my spouse, reading books, cooking, and spending time with friends. Those are very low-cost activities.
I quit my “9-5 job” the day I had enough savings. I then spent all my savings on flying lessons, running out of money and having to return to that “9-5 job” several times before finishing off my licensing. Now I’m doing what I wanted to do since I was a 5 year old crawling around on my knees with model airplanes. Now I’m an Airbus a320 Captain. Find what makes you happy and go after it. Don’t get to your death bed with any regret. I love my “job” because it brings me immense happiness. The kind of happiness a 5 year old gets watching planes at the airport with his dad. Thanks dad!
Wow being a pilot is a dream of mine. Glad to hear your effort payed off
You won't believe I am an African Man experiencing exactly what You are describing...capitalism made us lose the real meaning of things because everything has been replaced by the pursuit of money...May the supreme Authority of the Universe help us to get back on the track that trully correspond to who we really are...
Do you mean God? God sees everything and He is The only God.
Yes.
❤ I pray for this as well
Why wouldn’t we would believe that?
Because you’re African?
This hits everyone hard when it comes to work
Unfortunately life is a journey. It starts off hard at the beginning but eventually you will reap the rewards.
I left my 9-5 in early Jan after returning from maternity leave with my 2nd child. There's a lot of crazy stuff going on in the world. My time and attention belongs to my kids. Not to corporate parasites.
I also quit my job but I’m also struggling to find a new one. It’s really hard to be broke but quitting a job just feels good knowing that you don’t have to deal with the trauma and stress anymore haha!
Putting in my 2 week notice next week. I'm tired of the abuse from jealous bosses. I realize they're jealous for good reason, I BELONG in the spotlight!
How did it go?
That’s where i Am right now. I just wanted to quit.
Sorry but that's a bit naive lol
Go for it!
@@hearteater788lol. Mind your business babes. Yall really need to stop telling people what to do, what to think and what to choose.

I'm not yet successful, still in debt, but so tired of my work. I feel guilty that I "hate" my job but I am thankful for it that I can feed my cats and pay my bills. But I still feel so miserable everyday lol. Maybe 1 day after paying all the debts and save money for my cats, I can finally be able to "quit". Congratulations to you. Please take care of your health!
Thank you so much and please take care of yours too! I hope you will be able to find a good solution for you and for your cat!
shout out to you for taking care of your cats, ive got 2 😎
Same 😢 hope I can pay my debts soon and earn enough for my cats before I quit my job.
Try the Dave Ramsey method for debt. I know he's a old white guy, but it could help and light a fire within you to actually achieve that goal of yours of paying off debt and making an emergency fund of a year plus to be able to take off some time. I wish you luck.
Lol people these days need retirement plans for the cats lol. Talking about meaningless life, it seems that the crazy cat lady stereotype is real after all.
Glad to hear your story. I just left my career of 19 years in the finance industry. I’m 45 and also thought to my self why am I giving my life and energy for someone else. It’s never too late to make this move. I’ve never been happier, I’m able to focus on my family and my business. Anyone can do it, when you put your mind to it.
Awesome I wanna quit my job of 17 years so bad it causes me tremendous anxiety everyday but I have a wife and 4 kids relying on me I’m also 45 and look forward to the weekend but hate Sundays cause I know I have to go back to work
I want to quit too, what kind of business you do?
Really like that mindset
But how do you keep paying bills?
I love that RUclips recommends me new smaller RUclipsrs. Your cutting and story telling skills are very impressive. Normally this quality. Only 100k RUclipsrs do
thank you very much :)
I had this feeling of dissatisfaction, self hatered, and quiting in every job. The moment I quit I always felt the most happier.

i just quit my job last month and i feel so much lighter and happier. my friends also told me that I look happier (i usually look angry 24/7)

@@Affxsone How do you get your money then?
@@simranjeetsingh2167 I don't have any source of income atm bcs all I wanted is to take a break for a while. When I decided to quit, I made sure that I had enough savings to support myself and my grandma for at least 6 months. Hopefully, by then, I'll have a much better source of income
I totally understood when she said that she didn´t even know who she was anymore. It happened the same for me working as a teacher, so I quit this past week, and now my need is to give myself time to find myself again and follow my gut.
I never knew teachers were underpaid
Me too, totally understood what she mean that she didn't even know who she was, I'd been in her situation too, and that's very difficult it's like losing your own sanity. 😔😢
Quit my 3 part time jobs. So at peace now. I have better sleep. No anger issues. I stopped drinking. Do more around the house, more clean, neater, errands, .
Interesting take with a lot of great points.. I quit my 9-5 about 3 years ago and returned to it this year because I realized that as much as I hated the cons it came with, it still came with a lot of benefits as well.. and I realized having that safety net right now is extremely important, especially when you have people relying on you like a significant other. I learned that we can have a 9-5 and do something creatively, but we just give ourselves excuses to NOT do the thing because we're worn out with our jobs. There's going to be different seasons of your life that demands different things from you and knowing how to deal with them is important. At the end of the day, I don't think there's 1 answer to these complex issues, but I learned to continue and persevere no matter what season I'm in.
Hope this helps someone!
well said
thank you for sharing your story! I totally agree, there's no right or wrong answer, and having dependents make it so much harder to sustain this lifestyle.
exactly
agreed! I think we just need a mix of good things to make it work: good pay, good management, some aspect u actually like about ur job...but more importantly time/energy to do the things that feed your soul
I am a nurse and I cannot wait to find a normal average 9-5, its been years. It's time. I'm ready
Amen! 🙂
Working in a job you hate and causes you lots of stress will eventually cost you double the money you will earn! When i quit my job as a salesperson in a huge beauty shop working 50hours a week back in my mid 20s i had to pay the doctors to fix my painful knees and back pain plus my thyroid that had gone out control.in fact all my hormones were out of control to the point that i needed medication even to eat. I left and went back to school. Now i am a 38 freelancer journalist translator i earn less but i live more and healthier on my time. My left knee never fully recovered! Don't waste your precious time to go after money. Instead go after what you love doing and money will follow! Never give up on your dreams and before you make up your mind on a job consider your time and energy as neither of them can come come back! Take care of yourself cause nobody else will do it for you!❤
Stress is a disease. If we will not get rid of it, we will die. Thank you for sharing. I feel you.
"if you don't build your dreams, then someone will hire you to build theirs". that's so true.
thank you for watching ❤
I just turned 26 last Sunday and I am planning to quit my 9-5 job. Yes, I am scared to let go of this job because I have bills to pay, but I am now ready to embark on a new journey to do the things I really want to do and go out of my comfort zone. thanks for this 🥰🥰✨✨
thank you so much and congratulations on your new journey✨ I hope both of us will continue to enjoy the ride, and I know we will make it as long as we keep chasing our dream 🥰
I graduated with my civil engineering degree in 2017, didnt get a job offer that i thought i could get it from personal connection. I moved to Denver, created my startup in journalism space, self learning all the way. In 2023, I build an AI product with my team, now we have 220 companies signed up for our product. That is the decision I would never regret 7 years ago. Keep going and trust your inner voice.
This is such an inspiring video. I loved it when you said "You are replaceable". Last night I was talking to my friend about how I cannot take a leave because who will do my work andwhe I heard talk about being replaceable,it just struck me that literally everyone can be replaced.
We need to prioritise ourselves.
thank you so much :)
Sad thing is most people buy things like houses or cars or fancy stuffs that they cannot afford and are forced to work at a 9-5 job that they hate. In the world we are living in right now having less is actually having more. Anyways great story and keep doing what you are doing!
I agree! thank you so much :)
Thank you for this video, Mako! Sometimes I feel like I failed because I quit my job without a clear next step. When I see someone successful like you who did the same as me, I feel more confident that things will work out. No matter what the next step is, what's important is that we live the way we want to live
Exactly, we should live the life we want without any hesitation
and how is your life with no income?
i subscribed, please start
I'm also thinking about leaving my 8-5 job. But... we get weekends off, benefits are good, and we get paid holidays off. It's not my dream job, but this job is stable and consistent. I always use my 1 hour lunch to work on my artwork on my tablet.
I believe if your 9-5 is manageable. Keep the job. Use the free time to work on your passion projects, save up, and then leave the 9-5 after you build a safety net to fall on.
What is your job in? Im trying to find differently pathways to get into for lifetime jobs. : (
I quit my job of 7 years back in February because I was unfulfilled, overworked, burnt out and miserable. I’ve been doing Uber Eats part time and my mental health is a thousand times better. Society and capitalism has really ruined living happily for most people. These last few months haven’t been completely easy, but putting myself first has been so worth it.
I wish I could do this, but I come from a poor family and can’t afford to take a risk. I still enjoy watching these videos because I want to believe I can do it.
Your video just got recommended to me and I’m really happy about that. I am turning 29 in 2 weeks and still studying law besides my 9-5 job. I hate my studies so much and hardly pass any tests as I am not passionate about it anymore. My family still wants to see me as a future lawyer, but I cannnot see myself anymore in this position. I developed a huge passion for aviation and want to become an airplane pilot, but I am struggling financially. So I decided to finish my studies and once I get my degree I will quit the whole corporate / law world and do what really makes me happy 😊.
I totally understand how it's like to feel the pressure to continue going on the traditional, default path... but it's amazing that you found your passion for aviation! I'm so excited for you that you are on the road to quit and do what makes you happy 😊
Follow your passion. You can do it. Airline pilots make really good money so your parents should not worry....at least in the USA they do.
I’m sure you’d make a great pilot in the AirForce. You’d make a great officer.
YESSS🙌🏻🙌🏻 I did law school too but pursuing my passion now🥰
I have just lost my corporate job yesterday but I had already decided it wasn’t for me as it was causing me SO much stress and affecting my health so I’m not sad. My dream is to grow my RUclips channel. My passion is travel and I’ve worked in the travel industry for well over a decade as well as have 30 years of travel experience. Your video has encouraged me to chase my dreams and work hard at something I love. I’m 50 and starting from scratch…it’s never too late. Just need to work out how to pay the bills in the meantime. Loved your video. Thanks for sharing. 🇦🇺❤️
Thank you so much for watching! Wishing you the best of luck with your new journey ❤️
I’m watching this after writing my resignation letter after having a huge debate with myself . I’m 25 now
Good luck! Five years ago, I quit and spent three enjoyable years pursuing all the hobbies I had dreamed of. Last year, I moved on from freelancing and now run my own one-person business.
I'm 28 and totally understand you! Be proud of your decision and don't look back, we deserve to be happy ❤
The older I get the more I hate working. And it is not like they are bad jobs. It is just the stress and the feeling like you are working your life away. Work, sleep and repeat. I’m so tired of it.
I’m turning 29 this year - I used to work in a corporate office 3 years ago, but I didn’t feel like myself, or I just felt really lost and miserable. But I knew I would be more happy if I was doing something creative instead. So since then, I became a freelance illustrator, and it’s been a fulfilling experience 👌 Right now I’m figuring out what more creative things to do (like opening an online store, making merch or digital goods etc)
It’s super nice to hear your story, I relate to your experience 💙 I’m glad to hear that you’re happy and doing something that’s fulfilling to you

I love your video, Mako. Your storytelling and videography is also beautiful! I agree with soooo many of the things you said (maybe because I literally did the same thing haha). "If you can spend 8 hours a day building someone else's dream, you can spend at least 4 hours a day building your own." And have faith - it works out in the end :)
thank you so much, I put efforts on storytelling and I'm SO happy to hear that
A lot of people still underestimate how much damage stress can do to your body. Health is a kind of wealth that cannot be faked. Hope more people put themselves first above their job.
I'm going through similar thoughts, the constant back and forth, worried thoughts of quitting and not having and job. But the loss time, our age, it makes such a big difference. Congrats on taking a big step (even after 7 months) and I'm happy for you and your future growth as a content creator ❤
thank you so much for your kind words ❤ so glad to find someone going through the same thing. I hope this video helped you even if it's a little bit.
I am at the age of 36, working in the fast-evolving crypto industry, I've been leading a team of roughly 20, managing both BAU tasks and internal duties to ensure everything meets management's requirements. While this role brings me a sense of responsibility, I often feel that being a people manager and juggling these responsibilities doesn't fully satisfy my desire for personal fulfillments. I admire your ability to pursue what truly matters to you; it takes more than just contemplation to make significant changes in life. The "what ifs" can be daunting, but your authenticity and courage to follow your path inspire me. I wish you all the best and hope you find lasting happiness!
I am from the world most expensive city. I don’t feel fortunate or happy like many beside us. I am still finding a way out of this rat race trap. Pray for me… ❤
Hi Mako, I love your courage. all the best for chasing your new path.
“The corporate culture creates the culture of never enough “ - so wise!!!
Amazing people not realizing their self worth is heartbreaking. I am so glad you found your way 🙏🏽🙏🏽
"Who am I working this hard for? For someone's dream". Woah, this hit me so hard; we really do have to create our own dream. This video is one of the best videos that shows what reality really is, thank you so much. It has pushed me so much to do something I genuinely love, Thank you!

Is someone stalking what's going on in my life? Because the timing of YT recommending this video to me is so amazing! I have the exact same thoughts it's crazy! It feels like, finally someone understands what I'm going through. I'm finishing my job turnover in 2 weeks and I can't wait to embrace my freedom! THANK you for this video and definitely will be following your journey. Good luck to us!
I agree, I feel like someone stalking me. I am going through lots of stress thinking about quitting my job. But I have a family to feed and bills to pay. I think it would be easier if I was single. I am in the process of looking into opening a business. This may not happen overnight but maybe in a few months to a year.
@@kingofall9262 Hugs to you! I am single but prior to me quitting I was the breadwinner of the family so even if I wanted to I couldn't but thankfully now I can slowly breathe because I am sharing the responsibilities with my siblings now. Wish you luck 🤞
9 to 5s are absolutely soul destroying, it's the same everywhere, the hard workers suffer the most. It'd be one thing if we could at least afford to live comfortably with the wages they give, but we can't. You have to have 2 or 3 jobs or multiple side hussles just to make ends meet, and forget about it if you have children.
you didn’t tell us how to survive with out working a job … u just said u quit and having a gd life … how are u manager bills …😭🤷🏽♀️🤷🏽♀️🚩
I'm happy you had the realization about how precious life and time really is. Escaping the salarywomen route is difficult and a lot of Japanese people never leave to follow their dreams. I'm glad you did. Keep going!
thank you so much :) and yes, it can be difficult for japanese salary women to decide to leave and pursue a dream but I hope that will change with time.
I'm a 21 year old American male, and i also left my job, but it was 4 to 8 am and had no backup plan. I couldn't take it nomore so i just left and became a socialist
I'm currently working on leaving my 9 to 5, just turned 27 and I am tired of working. Been working since I was 16 but didn't get my first "big girl job until I was 24. I am ready to do what makes me happy and not dread sunday nights worrying about Monday mornings and the weekday like you said.
that's amazing that you're planning your way out. you deserve to do what makes you happy after all the hard work for 10+ years!
"Being stressed is expensive", was really powerful. Thank you for sharing your experience. It helps me decide what to do in my own work dilemma.
Money comes and goes. Time and happiness is more important
Exactly ☺️
You can always make money but you cannot get back time . I worked 10 years as a project manager giving all I have for my company , working extra long hours, working on weekends. When I was at home , I was physically here but my spirit was still at work. I missed so many important moment of my children so I quit one year ago and decided to work for my self . I make less money but I enjoy time a lot with my family and actually I'm working more than ever because I build something for me. What's the point of making money if you cannot enjoy your time , right ?
Anyone feel so stressed or worried at work that it affected their health in some way?
I relate to you, my health was in such a bad condition back then...
Yes....in fact my doctor told me that my job is making me sick. Of course, I am looking for another job, but the processes are soooooooooooooo long.
Yes. My father used to work as a security guard for a local prison. It stressed him out so bad, he ended up getting diabetes. No job is worth putting health at risk 😞
Yes. Even when I'm working almost part-time and the job is fairly easy, the coworkers who practically hate me make it all that much harder, plus, im living with my boomer dad who doesn't believe in freelancing or remote work. If I don't get yelled at by my coworkers, I'm getting lectured by my family. I'm literally surrounded by crabs in a bucket here
"being stressful is expensive"
Hearing you talk about this almost made me cry... i'm in the same boat - late 20s, stuck at a 9-5 job, wanting to quit with no backup plan. knowing you're flourishing and happy gave me more strength
thank you so much
Your mental health is more important....happiness will come naturally
I’m just like you!
I quit my job a month ago and started doing full time vanlife. Travel in US with my dog in a camper van. It’s been fun so far
I'm on a similar journey. Quit my corporate job 3 years ago in the middle of the pandemic and moved to a new city. It took me 2 years to heal from burnout, stress, and PTSD. I'm still working to getting back to being healthy but it's so much easier now to tackle problems and get back out there to try to find my new path. I'm creating as well and so excited I found your channel to follow along!
thank you so much & that is amazing that you are working on your creative project! great to find someone going through a similar thing.
corporate ?!! office?..... hah..u havent tried working 13h/Day at restaurants and washing dishes... thats the real hell im 31 yo now and this job is killing my soul and body
@project0332 all jobs are crap until you find one that you love and it will never be like work
Good luck
I get it. I’m 50. Quit my 9-5 job in 2023 because I felt like I was being bullied. I went on stress leave for a few months before giving notice. I didn’t realize how stressed and burnt out I was until I saw a therapist. I spent my days crying, but I know leaving my job was a good decision for my mental & spiritual health. I refuse to go back to corporate life. I want to work on something more creative. I pray for you and hope you find the path that God has for you. God bless!
How did you make money without job I need help
This is absolutely insane... I lost my dad suddenly and tragically I'm Feb. A few weeks later I quit my job that I hated with no back up plan either... I am also 29 as well and I thought I would be in such a different place at this point in my life 🥺😞 but my dad's death taught me that I was taking so much for granted and some things are worth your time and energy and some things absolutely are not. I am now in the process of trying to build my portfolio so I can do a tattoo apprenticeship which is something I've wanted to do for such a long time but never persued because it would disappoint so many people but now I want to live for me. Thank you so much for this video. It acted as confirmation for me❤❤❤❤❤❤
Sending you all the love luck and well wishes from South Africa x
Thank you for this video. I am 28, very well-paid job in legal industry, but in the past months I wake up terrified and sick to my stomach imagining a work day in front of me. Also started having mental breakdowns, also started therapy. Feels like the corporate is sucking out your soul and having any kind of emotion is a weakness. Thank you for sharing your journey, as it is very reassuring to know that I am not the only one wanting to leave what from the outside might seem like a nice stable life.
thank you so much for your comment, you are definitely not alone and it's amazing to see so many people in the comment section going through the same thing.
so quit an go work McDonalds, you'll probably be much happier
Hey how about thinking of starting to work free lance? As a lawyer or an assistant- everything is possible!
Your video inspired me. For now. I am confused with my work status. I start hate my job now. I think I might be need take a break.Try more selfie to myself.ありがと
The timing of this video!!!! I resigned from my awful retail job at a not-so-luxury luxury store. Before that, it was doing a degree I hated and my skin condition got so bad, but somehow, it healed itself right after I left the stressful environment. I also realised the same as you, time is the most valuable because it's finite. I thought if I'm placed here on the earth to fulfill someone else's vision that I don't align with, then I may as well end it right there and then. I'm in my mid twenties, and have no intention to let my youth go to waste. All the best, thank you for sharing your story.
thank you so much for watching and for your comment! I relate so much, I can't believe how much money I was spending at hospital/clinics back then... bad skin, losing hair, migraine... its crazy what stress can do to you.
and how is your life with no income?
I am going through the same now. Exhausted mentally and physically. I feel empty inside, cant even remember how being happy feels like. I've been doing this for 15 years now... Think it's time to stop
I want to quit also. I work a corporate job. I've been here for 14 years, and the stress and changes are mentally killing me. It has been ever since we were called to return back to office. During the pandemic, I had my twins, and having the capability of being home just put things in perspective for me and what I want for my family. My husband and I haven't had the financial means to be able to quit, but I understand the mental drain that it gives you. I want to be more present with my kids, and I know I have to make moves this year in order to be able to do so.
There is only two options, working from 9-5 or working 24 hours, good luck
You made me cry 🥹 you’re right!! We will never get our time back! You are so brave ❤
Thank you so much 🥹
Same here for me! Actually I'm in mid 20's planning to quit corporate job and find my purpose and passion but something is blocking me not to quit a well paying job. on daily basis I'm overthinking it and I didn't like what I do in 9-5 job. Im consulting every person I met my life each one saying one thing of resigning a job and not able to decide which path i wanna take! I'm came through your video kudos to your brave move!! ;) Please anyone suggest me what should I do ! How can I find what suits you and to excel that.Any Suggestions? Better late than never :)
Thank you for sharing.
You are so brave and inspirational!
I relate to you so much. As you were sharing your experience and how you got to the breaking point I started crying because it's exactly what I went through a couple of months ago. Left my 9-5 job as a permanently stressed data scientist at a huge unicorn in Latin America.
No backup plan, no severance, goodbye to my medical insurance and other benefits, no huge $ savings.
It's the best I could have done for my mind and and body. I haven't fully recovered yet but I feel like a plant that needed water desperately and it's finally receiving some rain.
As part of my healing journey I will go on a one month-long trip in your beautiful country next month, which has always been my life-long dream. Afterwards I will figure out what is next for me in life.
I wish you a happy path towards recovery. You've made the right choice. New adventures await for you!
Oshiete kurete arigatou gozaimashita :)
thank you so much. It warms my heart to hear that my story resonated with you. and you're brave as well for making the decision and I'm so excited for you to go on the adventure! arigato gozaimasu!
All the best!!
thank you , Im 6 months no work, been burn out to my stressful work and boss. Thank you for making my decision confirm right :) keep it up
Today,i just uploaded my first content on RUclips. I always wanted to that but now i am happy that i have taken my first step.I am also 30 yr old.
Congrats! 🎉That's amazing, I started about a month ago now on a whim, and it has been a time consuming but interesting process! Keep it up and in a year, you may have a small side income depending on how consistent you are with it.
amazing! it gets easier and easier after the scary first step :)
Would be nice to know what you did before and what you want to do now. I just hope its not RUclips, as thats what 9/10 of people want to do but its not sustainable for most people. If it is RUclips, use it as a side hustle and not your main job until you make it. Even if you just have a part time job alongside it.
I'll be back here again when you hit 1M 💜
that is so sweet🥺 thank you 💜
I'm crying. Because I have the same situation, that you had before. I lie to myself 😢 and learn a lot of information, that is not interesting for me...
I’m 39 and I decided to quit my job. I totally resonate with you that time is the only important thing in our lives!
thank you so much!
Well done! I'm 37 and still fighting to quit mine as soon as possible! What are you doing for a living now? Could you please share a little more? Thanks.
and how is your life with no income?
@@pedropaz1269I have some savings that will allow me to live for a while… then I plan to do some projects, from handcraft to maybe as a part-time storyteller in kindergarten in my neighbourhood… also learning Chinese medicine at the same time
@@royharper2003lots of free time for my family 😂
lol theres no damn "secret" she clearly had some kind of help from family. Dont let these videos get to your head & make sure you got your finances in order before you quit a job. People leave key details out of these kind of videos for attracting views . Yall are falling for it too. dont let the pretty face fool you
The irony is... I hate my job and not getting paid correctly. I am just broken inside. crying everyday. feeling burnout all the time.
thank you for watching, I hope you will find a solution soon!
I'm sorry, I wish you well! What was the irony?
Time to quit
This is so me right now. Seeing my earnings no longer motivates me. My work is easy, lol, but I have to drag myself to open my laptop and start working. I even took courses from an amazing coach to better serve my clients. Sadly, burnout is real. So, this month, I've decided to end my contracts with my clients too because continuing down this path wouldn't be fair to them or to myself anymore. I've also figured out what I want to do in life, which includes creating content. I'm scared but excited about where this journey may take me. Thank you so much for sharing your experience; it really makes me feel seen.
I'm a Japanese girl as well and you're going ahead of the path I want to go! I can't describe how thrilled and amazed to see this kind of video by Japanese person! your storytelling, little clips inbetween, editing, and sounds are all so cool. I'm so proud of you choosing your life how it matters to you.
sending love and wishing you the best of the best❤❤
so grateful to receive a positive comment from a japanese person! I feel like it can be difficult to find someone who resonates with us in japan... I put lots of work on storytelling and b-rolls, so happy to hear that you liked them ❤ best of luck with your journey :)
just quit my job and travelled to hokkaido japan last month, and i absolutely loved it! keep doing what you are doing mako, you are on the right path, i hope this work out for you very soon!
love from melb aus.
Thank you so much, you just made me want to visit hokkaido, haha I haven't been there in years!
not too late now, perfect time to go skiing! i tried snowboarding in furano and it was amazing, definitely going back next year!@@mylifeasmako
The world needs an entire reset. I am lucky because I have a husband to support me, but I quit my corporate job after having a miscarriage :( The world doesn't want to be realistic that these work lifestyles are killing us in more ways than one. In my case I 100% attribute it to killing my baby. I really am praying for the world and wish that everyone will be able to have the work life balance they deserve.
I'm so sorry to hear that... and I totally agree, it's extremely difficult for anyone to have a work life balance these days.
This video really spoke to me! I’m 31 and going through the same thing. I’ve began hating myself too and feeling like a failure. So sick of corporate America and being trapped in the typical 9-5, I want to be free to make content and build up my YT channel, work from the comfort of my home (that’s my happy place/sanctuary). I want to build a life I don’t want to escape from. I don’t want to dread Monday mornings. Have to get last bit of debt paid off, catch up
On some bills & get some money saved
So truth corporate life sucks, we are only there for the paychecks, it is good to take a career break once in a while to unwind from the Bullshit in life, don't you agree ?
I literally am in the same position. I have this awful pit in my stomach come Mondays. I have never felt this level of hatred towards my job. I spend moments everyday dreaming of quitting.
@@QuickFactsJibs You should quit if you find that the job is not right for you, doesn't matter what other things as your happiness is your main priority in life.
2year ago, I went through the same process of questioning myself before and after quiting my first job because all the time i was thinking that 10 hours of my life going away.. i won’t get back them even after becoming millionaire
exactly! time is so valuable!
I was just motivated to get up and start my business TODAY after watching this!
Thank you 🫶🏼 so happy to hear that ✨
yes, yes, yes! I have been unemployed for over a year now and people always ask me "so what do you do then?" and I say the same thing "living!" I might be broke, but out of the people I know I feel like I'm one of the happiest. I like to keep this hypothetical situation in my head: Imagine I kept working for 10 years and I made X amount of dollars. If a genie came to me when I was older and said, if you pay me X dollars, I will give you your youth back and the past 10 years of your life. Would I take it? Of course! who wouldn't want even one year of their life back? Well, I might as well live right now like the deal has been made. I have no money but I have my time.
I relate so much. I thought, why not become happy now instead of working 10 years to get to the "happiness"? also, the author I mentioned in the description was saying this too but people all of sudden start asking "so, what's next?" lol they never asked me that when I was employed! haha
Don’t worry, you’re on a healthy path. To learn that the most important thing in life is “time” - at a young age - is truly a gift.
I retired from a job I loved but a toxic boss 16 years ago. I have never regretted spending more time with my family and learning a different way to make money on my own terms with something I enjoy.
You have the right attitude to succeed! Gambatte kudasai!
I'm happy you had the realization about how precious life and time really is. Escaping the salarywomen route is difficult and a lot of Japanese people never leave to follow their dreams. I'm glad you did. Keep going!
thank you so much and I agree, I hope it will be more common but unfortunately I feel like it will take a while...
I left my job 4 months ago without backup plan. Right now I don’t know what to do, everyone asking me “Do you looking for a job? What are you doing?” I have no answer.
Thanks for the video, it helps me get through this setback.
thank you! I relate to you so much, they never asked me "what's next?" when I had a corporate career lol
Asia as English teacher? So in demand there…
I agree that stress is expensive. I've experienced high stress for the past 3 years. I'm now burnt out.
I gave my notice and I’m leaving my corporate job on April 19th, 2024 :) 😄
I’m going to dedicate my time in finishing my certification to become a Health and Life Coach and start my career transition to coaching. I will work on signing up my first clients!
wishing you the best with your new journey!
Thanks a lot Mako! I really appreciate it. I enjoy watching this video over and over. It’s great :) 😊
If you have a proper 9 to 5 job and are working around just 9 to 10 hours a day and nothing above or beyond that, then consider yourself blessed. It is still better than having to work over 12 to 14 hours daily
Thank you for sharing your story. The growth that stems from 24 to 29 was condensed into this video really well and I loved hearing how wise it has made you. Looking forwards to more content, all my best.
thank you so much, I'm so glad that you could see my growth from this video! :)
Love you video and story. Short and thoughtful. I agree with you about TIME. It's priceless. Wish you all the best.
Thank you so much! :)
This video is the embodiment of what I’ve been reflecting on. I’m in my 20s and I know I have time, but still feeling so lost. I love your take on this. Felt like older sisterly advice I needed ❤
"Felt like older sisterly advice I needed" this made me so happy, thank you so much ❤
I quit working in the Corporate world 4 months ago with no back up. I couldn’t continue with the stress. I have 3 children, 1 has special needs and I’m in my 40s. I’m trying to build a digital training course to hopefully start an income stream for myself, but it is hard and I’m still stressed, but not nearly as stressed as I was when working. I think you can only do what you can do and we need to be kind to ourselves if we can’t keep up as the demands are impossible. The benefits are not enough to cover the loss of my wage, so I can’t stay here long, just wanted to say well done for following your heart and thank you for sharing your story. It’s helped me. Good luck to you x
Wishing you all the best. You got this, stand in your truth and could you do both?
Don’t give up! I also quit with a baby and 3 months of backup to start a business. I’m never going back to the corporate world. The stress I have now makes me feel alive, the stress at working at a job I hated made me feel dead. Good luck!
Luxury is being able to do what you want, whenever you want, with who you want, for however long you want. Not the gucci bags or the mercedes-benz. Good luck on your journey to becoming wealthy!
Exactly, that’s my perspective of being “rich” in life :)🌿
