- April 2020 - This song is one that I had started a few years ago as a "One Man Band" project. A few weeks back, after our last Livestream, Chris said..."Hey, we should do some long distance recording, since we all can't be getting together in the same room. After mulling a few ideas for songs around, I decided to take this one out of hibernation, and asked the guys if they'd like to finish it with me. Thankfully, they said yes...and this is what happens when we have too much time on our hands! LOL!! 🤣THIS is only the first in a series that we have begun to record! There WILL be more of this madness soon!! We hope you enjoy..."The Shut-Ins"!! (TER is on temporary hiatus until we can actually be in the same room again! LOL! 😁)
OMG, you guys! THAT…WAS…AWESOME!!!!!!! Thank you for the gift of this very excellent “cover” of an old, old favorite of mine that I hold close to my heart and ALWAYS on diverse playlists! You guys were spot-on, funny, and entertaining!
I dare say Mr. Gold would definitely applaud this rendition.
Guys this is GREAT!!!!!
Deserves a wider audience, superb!
I was in highschool when this hit the charts. You fella's straight up, NAILED IT.
Well done👍
Spot on. Great version of a great song. Well done guys.
Nice. Thank you, fellas.
The lead guitar part was an amazing upgrade. Awesome job with this song.
Yep...I made a comment about the guitar solo a few years ago. Very nicely done , true to the original with the most important notes of the theme/melody/phrasing to keep it very recognizable yet he added some really tasty runs and blues -turnarounds that really made it shine.
I love the breakdown of that song in the solo section and personally like his version better than the original , which very rarely do I feel that way about with regards to such classic and memorable parts of songs. They usually should be left the same...in this case,,he knocked it out of the park.
✌️
Great cover! Fantastic musicians and great guitar solo.
Your lead singer has such excellent vocal talent!
You guys smashed it.
10/10
this was a great version ..really loved it !!!!
Wow !!!! Perfect. I just watched Andrews original and you guys nailed it and then some! Awesome on the skins man. Bang on vocals!! Definite gosssebump rendition! Take it on the road men....
Very cool chord progression, could be a good example for a music theory class.
Absolutely Fantastic!!!
That was pretty darn good guys!
This song is radio ready. Well done.
Absolutely love this!!!!
Really outstanding cover of a truly brilliant song...always been one of my favorites! You guys got every detail to perfect.....well done.
so great I got chills❤
Very Andrew Gold'esque'. Excellent cover.
Beyond Awsome!!
So good!! Brilliant cover.
That just sounded incredible and the video was so funny!
But my ears must be going bad on me as ive hit 60...because i swear that this performance sounded just like how i remembered it the first time i heard it on the radio, 40 or whatever years ago!
...how time flies'
What a stellar remake! I've been a fan of this song since I was a kid, and this was amazing.
Thank you! Had a lot of fun making this one! Glad you enjoyed it!!
Nicely done
Solid cover!
Brilliant cover up there with the best
Classic song and classic update😎👌
Awesome job guys. Brilliant vocals and musicianship 👍
My respect to Andrew he had the right stuff. Look up talent in dictionary an his name is there im sure. REST IN HEAVENLY PEACE ANDREW GOLD an thanks for sharing your talent with us. By the way you guys did a good job.
What an absolutely brilliant rendition of quite a brilliant song. You captured the heart of soul of Andrew’s song. He would be smiling down on you guys.
It's all in the mix. Your producer (and the band) NAILED this!
That is effing brilliant !!!!
That guitar solo...👀 🔥
Thanks, Brad! 😊
@@JRMcNeelyMusic you're welcome.
I didnt mean to be partial to the lead guitarist, everyone did an excellent job. I always loved the song and am a lifelong musician ( guitar player) so it definitely caught my attention as that guitar solo/jam section was always a stunning part of the song. Very nicely done by everyone.
Cheer's and continued success...✌🤘
@@bradbeam3767 Well again, thank you! (I am the one who played the lead guitar...with a towel on my head. LOL!! ;)
@@JRMcNeelyMusic Haha, right-on man'..😄 It wasnt lost on me that you guys all seemed to be having a bit of fun while performing the song. Might I add that I really liked how precisely you kept the most important notes of the solo in place so it sounded near perfect ( recognizable) but actually added a couple of much nicer runs and even what sounded like a slight/quasi pedal-tone blues lick towards the end. I actually like your version better than the original.
Very tasty...👍
Keep havin' fun bro...
Cheer's from Florida..😎
Well done❣ That song is still as fresh & musically relevant as when it was first released in March, 1977 - 46yrs. ago❣ Kind regards❣
Wonderful !
Wow, guy's what a fantastic cover this is. don't think you can get it more spot on, :)
Good job.... I like the guy with the Hat on backwards hes like a human metronome . I hope I spelled that right
Perfect cover -- brought to mind my boyhood days throughout the mid-1970s, growing up in "sunny" Los Angeles, California. Thanks, you guys!
Guys you have done ANDREW GOLD proud, bloody fantastic, especially under the most austere conditions during CONVID lockdown. wow. Do you have any other music I could listen too?
I don't use this word lightly or frequently but EPIC! Well maybe frequently. Still epic regardless.
Awesome!
Been working on this song for awhile - it is a masterpiece! Great version guys! "Magic Room Studios" (your video is hysterical good!)
This was 🔥. The Waterboy movie brought me here...I'm 33 and I love classics
excellent lads....nailed it..............
Wait a minute, this isn't the Black Keys!
Great job BTW!
Very nice job on a song that once you dive into it, isn't quite so easy to cover. Would've preferred Waddy Wachtel's (extended) solo, but that was cool too. One of my favorite tunes ever, and after 40 years of playing in bands, I still haven't had a chance to cover. Sigh. Running out of time...
This is so fucking rich every instrument is perfectly arranged the piano player is doing such wonderful inversions the guitar player is so in the groove with the wah- he is massaging that- And all of the instrumental parts are just wonderful… You guys add quite a bit to it while keeping every bit of the essence of the original excellent excellent excellent made my night
My older brother was born in 1951, and my sister in 1953.
well done.
4:33 Chris Cooke - Funny thing is, when I hear that, my mind goes into a Leslie West riff and I start singing "Mississippi Queen." I guess that shows my age! ;-)
I never really liked this song until I heard this version. Nice job! BTW, 1977 is the year I graduated from High School.
Made my day, absolutely NAILED it. Bravo Guys!!!!
This is awesome! Great job!
You guys nailed this song! And vocals are spot on.. even sounds like Andrew!🙌🏻
Thanks, Man! :)
I love this song and you guys nailed it. Watching the video put a big smile on my face.
Truly great cover (big Andrew Gold fan)
WOW!!!! Beautifully done!!
Badass. This is fantastic! Subscribed!
Nice song!!...sound amazing as usual. You're one of my favorite engineer ever!
Nice job guys
Wow this is pretty spot on.. even the little muted wah guitar pattern during the verses! Good shit!
The cowbell dude is my personal hero!!
Fantastic! I love the guitar solo
Haha- the very end. 😂
More cowbell!!!
Shocked me. Better than the original. Nailed it and then some. BRAVO! I LOVED IT!
Damn
Great cover of a great song. I was about to turn off the video, it was unwatchable because of the ridiculous masks, but about 40 seconds in I see they were gone.
I counted 6 guys ?
lol! The “6th guy” is the drummer…playing percussion, doing laundry, and playing video games. 😂
With masks on. More sheeple
For the record, we made this video at the very beginning of the pandemic BEFORE masks were even a thing! We wore them as a joke! Had absolutely ZERO to do with anything political or whatever. But, hey…thanks for assuming the worst.
@@JRMcNeelyMusic its the internet. we love to assume the worst. Good job with the song though!
Lol who stayed inside during quarantine??? Jesus. Know who you voted for.
Yes, Jesus does know who I voted for....but that's none of your business. 😂 Thanks for listening. 👍
@@JRMcNeelyMusichope your happy with the worlds worst economy
@@Imafly5150 I'm happy regardless of the economy! Not sure why you want to bring politics into this. I make music here. For everybody to (hopefully) enjoy. If you don't dig the music, that's totally cool. Nobody is forcing you to listen. And man, there are PLENTY of places on the web to argue about politics. This is NOT one of them.
Brilliant!
