Holy macaroni, what a great version. I especially like the keyboard parts done on the guitar. The guitar parts done on the guitar are good too! Who knew? In my experience I've learned that the the main difference between keyboards and guitars is that keyboards burn longer.
Impressive cover version of a very familiar YES tune. I know a lot of the comments suggest a more varied interpretation, but as covers go; this is extremely well done. Being a YES fan since 1969, I give this a solid 'thumbs up'. :-)
Just incredible! The band is amazing and Paul is a master. I have been a huge Paul Gilbert fan since the beginning, but never expected he could pull off something like this so well live. I was blown away when he did Bach’s Partita in Dm live because the level of memorization is next to impossible, but this is on another level. As a Yes fan and a PG fan I am blown away.
Gilbert as always does unexpected things. He is a shredder who just transcends the boundaries of a guitar hero. He is trying new things an revisiting classics in his own way.
Public in '70s : Wow what a masterpiece, i can't believe no one else ever thought about that sound before. Public in 2010's: OH NOOOO!!!!! Is this a JoJo reference??
I'm gonna be honest, I know this song through a meme, when I still hadn't got any idea about JoJo, Yes, or Paul Gilbert. Now this just stick to my head most of the time.
This guy is really good, i watched he doing the cover of YYZ rush, nice too. But keyboard part was really strange, i think the hammond solos of Wakeman are irreplaceable. Anyway nice.
Steve Howe in the 70's was absolutely the best all-around rock guitarist on the planet. That said, Paul really nails this and puts in some of Rick Wakeman's parts to boot!
Paul is a genius, he can play like Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman simultaneously. Yes was my fav band growing up but they never executed this song this tight live

Good cover...i wish someone would make heavy metal cover of this song or even melodic death metal....just to hear what it would be like.... some might think it would ruin it...and it might...but, depending on the bands skill level it could be good.....but, you never know till someone tries..
I agree. I was doing a search for metal yes covers. Just to see what it would be like. This cover is pretty good, but it is a little too straightforward of a cover for me. I wanted to hear something a little different.
ok, just finished listening... yep, its live... shit gets a bit crazy from around 6 minutes onwards! The guitar work is better than the original, but the vocals just dont quite do it for me, sorry (although im sure a studio recording of this would be better than the original)
I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO ADD THAT PAUL GILBERT IS NOT ONE-DIMENSIONAL LIKE YOUR JOE SATRIANI AND OTHERS........THE GUY CAN ALSO SING AND HE'S A HECK OF A SONGWRITER........CHECK OUT SOME OF HIS OTHER SOLO ALBUMS.....EVERY ALBUM IS AVAILABLE ON AMAZON
His expression says "shit, I glued my head to the guitar again"
It looks more like he's trying to listen to what the guitar is saying. Like, "what's that Susan? I should kill everyone?"
Now I cannot unsee it
Joseph knew youd say that:)
This is a tribute; it is not to be compared to the original. No cover ever should be.
With that said, this is a great rendition of a timeless classic.
Aaronmac404 You know you are here from JoJos lol
Shawn Macht I was a Yes/Paul Gilbert fan long before I ever started watching anime!
Shawn Macht That scene where will A zeppeli accepts his fate and this starts playing
+Aaronmac404 There is a difference between "tribute" and "cover" in the industry, one pays homage, the other replicates.
Larry live Semantics aside, my point still stands. Even if it is a replication, such a song should never be compared to the original.
Holy macaroni, what a great version. I especially like the keyboard parts done on the guitar. The guitar parts done on the guitar are good too! Who knew? In my experience I've learned that the the main difference between keyboards and guitars is that keyboards burn longer.
Even Speedwagon is impressed.

This comment is amusing because 2 years later, those critical comments have been buried.
to be replaced with a bunch of Jojokes
Dominic Jannazo lmfao
This is by far the best roundbout cover ive ever listened to
Amazing how Paul covers all the original "keyboard" scripts on guitar! The guy is simply not of this world!! Love Mr. Gilbert!!!
Just incredible! The band is amazing and Paul is a master. I have been a huge Paul Gilbert fan since the beginning, but never expected he could pull off something like this so well live. I've been going to YES concerts since the seventies and I Iike this version.
What an awesome cover! Full respect for the majesty of Mr. Howe, with a perfect dash of what makes Mr. Gilbert great!
Gilbert as always does unexpected things. He is a shredder who just transcends the boundaries of a guitar hero. He is trying new things an revisiting classics in his own way.
Awesome rendition
Absolutely stunning.
Absolutely flawless!! Takes A LOT of guts to cover classic Yes ...
Love PG.
PAUL GILBERT.......ONE OF THE FINEST GUITARISTS IN THE WORLD! I THINK SOMETIMES HE DOESN'T GET THE RESPECT OR THE FOLLOWING HE DESERVES
Got some goosebumps...
Excellent version. 🔊🎸🍻
Heeaavyyyyyy! Absolutely loving loving this version! Wooooooo!
the bass tho
exactly. and people know this as the "to be continued" meme. bass in the original blows this out of the water
+D to Tha A The original one is the to be continued version
Best song ever, redone by a master!
Loving the bass work. Great sound.
Wow and it was live. Beaucoup Kudos
Amazing keys like that can't be replaced with guitar
apparently they have been
The song just doesn't sound as full. It's too guitar-heavy and the keyboard balances it out.
+Friendly_Lucifer That's also why it's a cover :P
Paul you are awesome.
Great work, well done!
Paul was always my favorite of the 80's "stunt guitarists". He's only gotten better. Great cover of a difficult song to perform
Even if this can't be compared with the original, this is still really great rendition.
Public in '70s : Wow what a masterpiece, i can't believe no one else ever thought about that sound before.
Public in 2010's: OH NOOOO!!!!! Is this a JoJo reference??
Awesome, Paul..
I'm gonna be honest, I know this song through a meme, when I still hadn't got any idea about JoJo, Yes, or Paul Gilbert.
Now this just stick to my head most of the time.
You do all realise that this is a live track don't you ? It was taken from the Fuzz Universe 2010 European Tour. That just makes it even better !!!
wow love it
This recording is live. Its from the 2010 Fuzz Universe European Tour. I have the original album and it details this in the inlay card :-)
i was amazed that this song can be played without synthesizer-instead guitar. really great.
Really well done!!
Wonderfull!
Any One Knows who is the bass player on this version?
This guy is really good, i watched he doing the cover of YYZ rush, nice too. But keyboard part was really strange, i think the hammond solos of Wakeman are irreplaceable. Anyway nice.
good job, a little heavy on the echo... is this a live take?
whooda thunk it? Amazing cover of Wakeman's solo on guitar! Harmonies sound pretty damn tight also...
There's a live vid of this somewhere..pretty sick PG playing Wakeman's keyboard parts on guitar!!
This puts the ROCK in ProgRock!!!
very impressive
He's playing Wakeman's solo's on guitar btw. Amazing
anyone know who's singing & on bass
Steve Howe in the 70's was absolutely the best all-around rock guitarist on the planet. That said, Paul really nails this and puts in some of Rick Wakeman's parts to boot!
""guitar work is better than the original" Jesus Christ."
Oh no! Someone's opinion differs from yours! What to do?
Get butthurt lmao
That's my friend Tony Spinner on vocals.
Just Killer !!!
No matter who plays it, this has always been a metal song. You inject a high gain guitar tone and it is very clearly metal.
This isn't metal. It's a cover of a prog song with slightly more distortion.
Well said. It (the song itself) transcends genre and apparently small minds if you reference the first two replies you received.
Transcendent Prog Rock! Nay Metal!
baru tau PG udah rilis album baru :)
Wow!!
nice!!!
4:49 Dat bend. So rock and roll!
Awesome enough for music fans. Fabulous enough for JoJo fans. :D
I think it nees more: "ORA! ORA! ORA! ORA!"
But it was still awesome.
Ora was more Jotaro and Jolyne's thing, like how Giorno had "ari ari ari ari arrivederci"
Letty Zeppelyn I believe it was Bruno, tho-
yep, but I never read Vento Aureo or anything after the Captain Tennille arc of part 3
Paul is a genius, he can play like Steve Howe and Rick Wakeman simultaneously. Yes was my fav band growing up but they never executed this song this tight live
better than the yes version, never been fond of keyboards!
It´s a good version. It can´t be better than the original. A copy never is better than the original.
To be put on hold until a later time.
This must be the work of an enemy stand
Nope, it's the work of an ally stando.
Wrong part
Whoa.
I wonder what Paul Gilbert's stand would be?
Its the guitar
Its why hes listening to it
Paul's stand enables him to practice guitar for 100 hours a day.

Bassist surprised me. Actually, everyone did. Nice ;)
actually, i take that back, the recordings are pretty good too...
Nice :)
Granted, Bruford is one best of all time. It literally hurts my brain listening to songs like Heart of the Sunrise XD
ZA WARUDO!!! TOKI WA TOMARE!!!!!
mui top
Hahahaha 4:54 xD that poor guitarist trying to do the keyboard arpeggios 😂 I know that feel, bro
Are you saying that Paul is struggling to play Steve's material?
Paul is more technically proficient than both Wakeman and Howe
Your next line is... "What an amazing cover".
What an amazing cover HUH ?!

hey i know this song from that meme too but could you not write this here and enjoy the song cuz it rocks !!!
