Im Native America Indian and have seen this crap on the Rez many times. I once held a position to to deal with these contractors. Its sad. Now days craftsmen are few and far between. This is why we use a plumber to do the plumbing use an electrician to do the electrical. He use in a cabinet maker to do the cabinets and you use a trim guy to do your trim and you specifically usually drywaller to do your drama and a painter to do the painting that’s why I’ve always told people like the person who says there a contractor use people who are specifically specifying for the application
The only solution to this is to gut and redo. They may have to demo out more than the original ripout.. I would want to really look at plumbing AND electrical, structural, too, probably
Usually when a contractor is cheap, that's because he doesn't know the business and doesn't know how to charge. If he doesn't know the business there's a very high chance he doesn't know how to deliver quality. I'm a tile, bath remodeler and flooring contractor, when I first started, I was a hack and cheap. Now after years of experience I learned how to deliver high quality and my prices are way higher. People complain about my price and many hire cheap guys. You get what you pay for. 🤗

I be really interested to know what's behind the drywall. If it's this bad on the outside side of the walls you can bet the mechanical and framing and elletrical things are just as bad.
So you call me inappropriate names. Ok heads up I have a family with a with a actually a female, and I have children so the incell thing is in inaccurate.. Have you ever heard of compation for the people that are in a situation where they are having huge problems with the house they bought for their own family. But what is accurate is you need to not be such an asshole 🤔
Absolutely. If the work is this shoddy on the exterior then the expenses are likely much much higher for repair then you initially realize. It's very likely that behind the drywall, in the attic and crawlspace there are a plethora of other issues that will need addressed. Usually those "behind the curtain" issues are far more serious.
Mr Guzman I never minded people watching me work (floor covering installer). As far as payments go, 2 or three payments for a job are the norm. It helps keep everybody honest.

Man I’ve done work like that before drunk off my ass / hungover / both and it never would look like that. At least nobody fired me or complained to my face haha. Long time ago. I do that work sober now, aside from the occasional joint before painting all day.
This is why, after 35 yrs, I left the industry. I got sick of competing bids against these hacks. Everyone want lowest cost but then is surprised when work quality sucks. No surprise here.
It is wrong to assume that this couple took the lowest bid. Just because you accept the highest bid does not mean you will get great results. I notice that most contractors price the neighborhood instead the actual job. Good contractors are hard to come by in the 21st century. That's why I do everything except for HVAC and Electrical. My husband and I could have been in the same boat as this couple when we decided to renovate. I would like to see an update on the outcome.
As a Licensed Contractor, all I can say is hire local and get references, lots of references. If a contractor is really good, he will have references from previous clients who are happy to show off their home improvements and renovations. You can also check to see if a prospective contractor is licensed, and that his license is in good standing. you can also check to see if the state has ever had to suspend or revoke a license. And never pull a permit for a contractor. If he is unwilling or unable to get the permit himself, it's usually because he knows his work won't pass inspection.
Alot of it is about money sadly. If you get hired to install a toilet, shower and vanity, then the client comes with "Hey can you do the hallway walls? Trim the bedroom, we want tile, we need qaurter round. We need all the holes patched, we need the beams cleaned, I see that you bought these lights and finished the wall but we have new lights, you'll have to take the drywall out, take mirrors down and redo the entire job" Then you're almost done basically remodeling an entire house with the budget of a toilet and vanity install, you're not going to spend the extra week to finish it. You can't because each week you have $2500 in payroll alone.. If they do not have the money for the job they shouldn't get the job done. It's alot of work to just do flooring. Remove toilet, vanity, trim. Qaurter round, rip out wood flooring, sand and scrape floor surface, level floor, sand floor perfectly smooth. Install flooring. Then imagine someone changing the flooring type after that. An entire week scheduled to do all of this. Then to have the client change their minds on flooring. An entire week with a laborer, thegn demo and do again. Then realize the job is a "favor" alot of times that is the other side of the story. So you have weeks or a month or 2 of out of pocket labor for things you did as "favors" then have the client text you "I'm disappointed" Thats why shit is expensive.
As a contractor specializing in renovations and damage repair..for over 40 years…it beyond understanding that inspections by the client permit this level of unprofessionalism…anyone using a professional service should and I repeat should require a bond for and level of work preformed…it protects the client f e.g. I’m a variety of ills…and really no litigation is typically involved..!
Now you know why we need more Construction Union Apprenticeships. Untrained, unskilled, low bid, jacklegs cost you so much more than skilled trades people.
Yea ok, 2 years to put insulation and caulking until you learn framing and Sheetrock in 6 years , it all depends on the person , not all non-union contractors do bullshit work
It almost looks and feels like the "contractor" had a blast of a party over there with some of his crack friends and afterwards just bailed out after seeing the mess his "guests" left behind. You would be amazed by the amount of times such things happen, trust me. Just a question: did you pay him in front? I think I already know the answer to that one, which will be yes. Correct?
When i see something like this, i always have that kind of weird feeling, they did a lot of shit things on purpose. It just cant be done like all of this by accident mistakes. Even a nonprofessional person can see those mistakes and many of those are definitely can be fixed or easily avoid from.
How didn’t the homeowner know this was going on? If this is a house flipper that was trying to save a bunch of money then I’m glad this happened. Hopefully it’s not but seems like it is.
people, if you are the owner, drop by the house every day to see if you have a mickey mouse contractor...at the first sign of trouble get rid of them before its too late
I was repairing multiple honey-do items on a old home so the owners could sell it. As I adjusted the gate latch, to work properly, the real estate agent asked how much I charge. When I replied $60/hr, he balked and said “No way would I pay someone that much to do simple repairs like this”. My reply was, since I have all the tools and knowledge, it only took me 5 minutes to fix. That’s $5 to repair a malfunctioning gate. Pretty good deal if you ask me. I asked for his card, so I could remember to never work for him. The irony is, he charges quite a bit more than me and provides much less!
If you hire anyone to do work on your property, YOU ALWAYS STAY ON TOP of them, don't disappear and think you won't be surprised. I hired a contractor to do a $300K+ remodel and we butted heads for the first couple of weeks, after that realized who was the BOSS with the checkbook, this is your fault for not protecting your interests more vigorously!
Or you just know what to look out for while they are working and are involved with the work. Saved 70k on hiring other guys and was on it with them. No problems with them
Definitely don’t turn the water on in the shower before a professional tile setter takes a look at that shower pan. If the tile was that bad I can’t imagine the pan being correct😳
Contractors choosing the lowest bid will get you this, 100%. They hire guys that were picking cherries the week before. You know what I’m saying. Skilled labor isn’t cheap, and cheap labor isn’t skilled.
As a general contractor myself, I’m really sorry that you’re going through this I would never accept that work. I would file a complaint with your local register of contractors and go after his license. I would also hire an attorney and get some of your money back
I'm 71 years old and how many times I've heard people bragging about how this isn't your grandfather's so and so! Well guess what these aren't your grandfather's contractor's!! You know the ones that took pride in their work, I know I was a contractor, thats why I wont let anyone touch my house without me there watching every move they make, after all they want thier money as soon as their done, not 30 days later like we did.
I worked in construction for many years on high end developments. mainly office blocks in the financial square mile London and the finish was beyond perfect. The clients were paying £50 - £80 a square metre rental space. Anyone who could not work to the highest standards was let go on day one. No second chances no excuses. So how on a private build enovation was this allowed to get to this state. Surly you were there every day seeing how bad they were. Its everything they done is just terrible. Its upto the owner to be the clerk of works and keep an eye on QC. Its real easy to do. as they leave st night you just say no need to come back tomorrow. Dont be shy. Its your money so your the boss.😮
There's no way they said it was completed if so that person had to of been blind There's definitely a lot of problems here but I think a cheap nagging customer could be one of them just my assumption though
first is utilities in a plan , then i installation of drywall , then wood trim fixtures , bench , then there is mudding fixing all the patches holes gaps, then there is painting starting with celing , then is trim doors painting benches , then is flooring , then there is appliances ,fixtures last, cabinets ,wood shelves unless they need to be painting install after ceiling paint or trim after that comes the punch list any inperfections mistakes or damages done by installation, thats the sequence & its the general contractors n owner to get it done that sequence always ,
I want to feel bad but I was a contractor for 11 years, did home building for 23 years. I never had a single complaint or lawsuit but my price reflected my quality. I was fair both to myself and my customers, but when the economy started to go south, ppl would tell me there buddy Paco said he'd do the $3000 job I bid for $700. How'd that job turn out amigo? @jami w I don't look at the age of the video. I say my peace regardless because you never know who will read this after. They're is always something new to learn especially ways NOT TO DO things. Lol
@@seanriopel3132 I'm not in this line of work but appreciate the advice. "Under promise, and over deliver"
Best advice for a new guy, always prep the job site. Plastic, floor covers, dust extractor, most important thing is to look professional.
Those are not mistakes. It is lack of experience and care.
The way he is parroting his spouse, it must have been his idea to hire the cheapest bidder. You can hear the "I told you so!" in her voice.
🤣
She’s only noting the faults for him that he might have missed.
I love the way you are parroting the other ignorant people here making assumptions about the bid they took. You have no idea what the bid was.
You should have fired them waaaaaay before it got this far. Looks like an old abandoned house....shame
Looks like you got the best contractor Tajuana had to offer. Seen it time and time again.
Looks like a nightmare. The contractor is obviously hiring unskilled labor and leaving them there all day unsupervised, with materials, while he spends your money.
as a home owner you need to be there every day if your acting as the contractor
No, when you hire a general contractor who subs the work then he needs to be there everyday. The homeowners are never to blame when work like this is performed after signing a legally binding contract.
I take it you went with the lowest bidder. More often then not a cheap contractor will end up costing more.
"MIJITO BE greatful YOU even got a home and you are not sleeping under a bridge "

Im Native America Indian and have seen this crap on the Rez many times. I once held a position to to deal with these contractors. Its sad. Now days craftsmen are few and far between. Most dont know codes or even the steps before and after their craft takes place. I was taught to learn every step of the building progress.
"Aww...YOU guys are TOO picky...." 😳 🤣🤣🤣🤣
So where was the owner of this project throughout the whole process? Every time I do a job the owner comes by and checks up on the progress made.
kingkuppa100 is that an excuse to pull this crap? oh the homeowner isn't looking so just do whatever? that is hack mentality.
COMMUNICATION IS KEY
I THINK WHAT HE IS TRYING TO SAY IS HE AND THE HOMEOWNER SPEND 15 MINUTES EVERY DAY TALKING ABOUT THE JOB IN GENERAL. THIS HELPS THE WHOLE PROCESS
kingkuppa100 and I've seen a lot worse than this. Most professional tradesman would have been on the phone seeking contact with the owner to inform them of the situation. Aparrenty this GC managed to use only garbage help for every step of the remodel. Sad.
Lucky you. I have a backpack I carry the home owner in as they inspect every move I make. Lol
So did you go back and fix up the jobs that you "hacked"?
@@harrywinslow3946 Of course not....The customers got what they paid for. You can't expect to get a Ferrari for same the price of a Kia. Now I offer Ferrari quality, if anything happens, I'll come back and fix it because I'm getting paid top dollar now. Got it? You can't get something for nothing. Walmart quality is not the same as whole foods quality. You get what you pay for. ✌️
@@harrywinslow3946 What this guy did was more like vandalism....Worst than a not so good job or bad quality job. Worst than a hack job. Vandalism.....He should go to jail 😁😁
Geez oh man these guys are terrible. I honestly believe you need to take a daily look at your home when contractors are working on huge jobs like this to make sure they are being respectful to your property. These guys are animals. I hope you fired them, cancelled whatever check you gave them and have plans on suing them for a full refund.
This is exactly why I do my own work! Can't trust anybody to any good work. I'd immediately stop all payments. You're FIRED!
Oh we went with the guy that was 10k cheaper we are going to save a ton of money. Yeah how's that working for ya?
Yeap this right here. Zero sympathy
i get so annoyed when people tell me "your price is X more than the other guy".....well have fun. Cheap and quality dont go hand in hand.
@@mannys3933 good. any stories
And they won't check periodically
I be really interested to know what's behind the drywall. If it's this bad on the outside side of the walls you can bet the mechanical and framing and elletrical things are just as bad.

@@Penguin_of_Death sorry I've never been a great at spelling .I think it's because of my lisdexia.

Usually those "behind the curtain" issues are far more serious.
damn! saw the rest and I would say he basically went 1 step forwards 5 steps backwards the entire time. might as well start over damn near.
That's why I'm there watching them work like a hawk first sign of an issue work stops. And I pay in 3 payments.
Mr Guzman I never minded people watching me work (floor covering installer). As far as payments go, 2 or three payments for a job are the norm. It helps keep everybody honest.
Lmao that's the most annoying shit ever just read reviews know who you're dealing with that shit is basically saying you don't trust his work or character
You have time to watch and critique but you can't do it yourself.
You can't even construct a proper sentence, so I'm pretty sure you aren't qualified to tell anyone anything.
Mr Guzman How the hell did you let several fazes go by with out catching this shit? I mean framing, elec and dry wall with out catching this???
Was this "contractor " hanging around home depot parking lot ? This is crazy shit work.
Wife and I bought our house 15 years ago. After our recent divorce I finally decided to start renovating the place. I’ve got zero experience doing any of this and am doing it myself to save some money and the work I’ve done is far and away better than whatever the hell this contractor was trying to do.
Should I guess who initiated the divorce? Let me guess, she was "bored" or you didn't give her enough attention, it's always one of the two, in my experiences anyway.
love these comments. All assume the cheapest bid was taken - NOT. Certified contractor with references - basically fell of the wagon, fell off the wagon, stole the money, didnt pay subs, it was a nightmare. A few months after he ended up in jail
brent toevs You clearly didn't periodically visit the job site. You MUST do this to address things before they become major issues. The problems I see here didn't happen over night.
Oh ok buddy where the heck were you at during this horrible remodeling? I wouldn't be critical of people commenting, be critical of yourself.
4 years later, whats the house look like now, and whatever happened? Saw your comment below saying that the contractor fell of the wagon... so, let us know how it all went...
He's a lot more calm than I would be. Somebody's head would have some bumps on it if that was my house.
I didn't know Larry, Moe, and Curly were still doing general contracting.
This job is an insult even to them
Man I’ve done work like that before drunk off my ass / hungover / both and it never would look like that.
"Screw in the ceiling." Naw.. he screwed _everything_.
I would like to see an update on the outcome.
...nobody said the highest bid...just not the lowest...
...lowest and highest are the first 2 out...
If you get hired to install a toilet, shower and vanity, then the client comes with
"Hey can you do the hallway walls? Trim the bedroom, we want tile, we need qaurter round. We need all the holes patched, we need the beams cleaned, I see that you bought these lights and finished the wall but we have new lights, you'll have to take the drywall out, take mirrors down and redo the entire job"
Then you're almost done basically remodeling an entire house with the budget of a toilet and vanity install, you're not going to spend the extra week to finish it.
Then realize the job is a "favor"
alot of times that is the other side of the story. So you have weeks or a month or 2 of out of pocket labor for things you did as "favors" then have the client text you "I'm disappointed"
Thats why shit is expensive.
Exceptional work
Needs a little touch up... but it's livable.
He said they cut the granite on the brand new carpet. In the house!
Yea ok, 2 years to put insulation and caulking until you learn framing and Sheetrock in 6 years , it all depends on the person , not all non-union contractors do bullshit work
Yea I disagree I'm non union and have been in all of the trades for over 20years. I own my own company and do nothing like this.
Yeah I figure not everyone like this yeo
Seriously? Union is a joke. Whoever has been paying union dues the longest is on the job not who does a better job.
“I know a guy with good prices” lmao
It almost looks and feels like the "contractor" had a blast of a party over there with some of his crack friends and afterwards just bailed out after seeing the mess his "guests" left behind. You would be amazed by the amount of times such things happen, trust me.
Just a question: did you pay him in front? I think I already know the answer to that one, which will be yes. Correct?
So we know that it's not true when they say..'if you can piss u can paint'
When i see something like this, i always have that kind of weird feeling, they did a lot of shit things on purpose. It just cant be done like all of this by accident mistakes. Even a nonprofessional person can see those mistakes and many of those are definitely can be fixed or easily avoid from.
Amazing craftsmanship 👍
How didn’t the homeowner know this was going on?
If this is a house flipper that was trying to save a bunch of money then I’m glad this happened.
Hopefully it’s not but seems like it is.
Yeah, I think they are.
people, if you are the owner, drop by the house every day to see if you have a mickey mouse contractor...at the first sign of trouble get rid of them before its too late
Mickey Mouse contractor indeed. I prefer to call them charlatans.
Good work ain't cheap, cheap work ain't good!
Looks like a Drunk hired “ Experts “ from Home Depot Parking Lot .
$500.00 per dozen
I'm showing this video the next time someone tells me my price is to high. Pay the extra for the seasoned good guys and this will never happen
My exact thought!
Or you just know what to look out for while they are working and are involved with the work. Saved 70k on hiring other guys and was on it with them. No problems with them
Ahh, no. Even the high bid guys do shoddy work.
@@teeduck not on my clock.
I’m raising my prices after seeing this

Definitely don’t turn the water on in the shower before a professional tile setter takes a look at that shower pan. If the tile was that bad I can’t imagine the pan being correct😳
I would laugh so hard if at the end it was a DIY job that backfired 🤣
This was 14 years ago. Hes onto other things ( with recurring nightmares, of course!).
Getting people to work is hard.. quality workers are unicorns
I would also hire an attorney and get some of your money back
Without a budget of like 100k you couldn’t do a project like this
Good point quality takes time
100k pesos??
When you leave your home in the hands of strangers with sledge hammers this is usually what occurs
Speechless
I'm a DIY person, and I can tell you from the bottom of my heart that even I can do a better job. MUCH better even. Dafuk happened there?????
I worked in construction for many years on high end developments. mainly office blocks in the financial square mile London and the finish was beyond perfect. The clients were paying £50 - £80 a square metre rental space. Anyone who could not work to the highest standards was let go on day one. No second chances no excuses. So how on a private build
enovation was this allowed to get to this state.
Took me a long time to realize you get what you pay for.
Not true. Ive had low bids where the work was excellent and high bids where the work was shoddy.
May I ask how much was the total bill in the end?
bout tree fiddy
@@22KingRancher lol
Did the contractor say the job was completed? Seems like some shared responsibility here.
There's no way they said it was completed if so that person had to of been blind There's definitely a lot of problems here but I think a cheap nagging customer could be one of them just my assumption though
Wow FIRED everyone who's involved with that work
Hey how'd this work out for you? Small claims judgement ect? Always curious to see what the outcome was
This looks way beyond small claims court level of damage. Hopefully the contractor was bonded.
first is utilities in a plan , then i installation of drywall , then wood trim fixtures , bench , then there is mudding fixing all the patches holes gaps, then there is painting starting with celing , then is trim doors painting benches , then is flooring , then there is appliances ,fixtures last, cabinets ,wood shelves unless they need to be painting install after ceiling paint or trim after that comes the punch list any inperfections mistakes or damages done by installation, thats the sequence & its the general contractors n owner to get it done that sequence always ,
I agree. Pay for a professional. Everyone wants to complain for subpar work, but no one wants to pay a professional.
In other words it just needs detail work.
Gotta watch immediately. That way you can catch them before they get to far in and fire them. Sorry bout your troubles buddy.
this is scary, unbelievable that our most expensive investment usually has the lowest class of people in it for repairs.
Always by homeowner choice
Have you been to a used car dealership lately, or auto repair shop?
I love these videos. Rich people who don't want to pay for quality work, nothing but karma baby.
So going cheap and watching like a hawk leads to triple the cost of the high bidder
Probably something like this.
But he gave us the best price!
Al Bundy used the same guy at:

I bet everyone of them had a plastic speed square in their ten dollar tool belts 🤣
The question is how long did they let this go until they noticed
No beer bottles left on the ground, so my people are innocent of this. Lol
The contractor just hasn’t finish it up. Give him some time. 😂😅
