It's so crazy how the brain works. When it comes to anyone else, I'd say that it's always the adults fault, it's never the child's fault. But when I think about my own situation, my brain always tells me it's my fault, I couldve done something different, I couldve made better choices, etc.

So does mine. Getting older really shifted my perspective. It's become clear to me this will be a process, and that if I was surrounded by people who didn't want to protect me, have my best interest in mind, teach me self-love etc. back then, I will have to be that person for myself now. And accepting that this process isn't linear. There's bad days where I take 100% of the blame and can't shake the what ifs. But there's also good days, where I know I was the one wronged and just did the best I could given the circumstances. In those moments, I have to believe that is the truth and perhaps I'm punishing my past self when she was already going through enough.
Your comment really hits home for me bc It's been one of those rough days. I know how hard it is. So I just wanted to say its okay to be kind and forgiving to our current selves now. Idk about you, but I always need a reminder for that. It wasn't your fault, we deserve this kindness and care now especially after others failed to give us that before... Stay strong girl, I already know you are

But I'm an adult now, and I take full responsibility for how I am now. It's still distressing to think about my childhood, but I'm a completely different person because I've worked for that. This experience is often brushed aside, especially compared to a different woman having that same experience, but with a man. How appalling. The way everyone came after an abused child (while openly congratulating and enabling their abuser, even!) was just horrifying. And no-one helped them. A terrible thing to see. I'm glad they got away from it. Also; I can tell Chrissy that Meredith was and is still, in fact, originally a boy's name; not that it should matter; but I mention it because it apparently mattered to her, enough to bully Jay Mohr about it... while proudly getting her gender-based bullying wrong. Yeesh. 🤦‍♀ So; it continues as a boy's name, as well as a girl's name in more recent times; it's a unisex name. Ask me how I know. 🤣 But yeah. It's unisex. And if it wasn't? What would it matter to her? Baffling stuff. Am unsurprised, however, that she did not know that the name's unisex when she tweeted her attempt to shame someone else, considering what else she apparently didn't know; like the idea that it's not ok to bully children, or anyone else. What disgraceful behaviour.
