@@emmanuelstyles6345 of course a guy would say this. Guess what, there are so many parents out there raising girls like millie who started dating when the mom was underage and the dad was an adult. So, it doesn’t occur to the mom that this is unacceptable even if her relationship was abusive, because her parents had the same dynamic. It's a family cycle in some communities.
An ethical justice system protects children even from harm their parents could put them in or enable.
Just think how many places in the U.S allow child marriage at any age as long as the parents sign their signature.

Tbh I have parents that are 11 years apart but the key point was my parents were *adults* when they met. To me the gap itself isn’t the issue it’s the ages themselves. The fact that the media is twisting Millie's experiences and appearance as "adult style" (as if stylists and others aren't making that image for her) or "rage" (implying her being hurt by being sexualized as a child is unwarranted or overreacting) is just sick and shows that the attitude of the adults in the industry is the problem. Not to mention the obvious differences in how her male counterparts are treated by still being sexualized as if a kiss on screen is equal to a sincere romantic kiss and "oh you put the moves on her," bs is just as gross. The poor kid clearly didn't like talking about his costar that way and was just going along with it because he's so used to being talked to that way about her.

@@zahrahali8631 what's especially frustrating is that her stylists are playing into it as well. Like in one of her red carpet walks wearing a completely backless dress. We associate things like that with adults. Adult women. They dress her that way because they know it elicits a certain response and it's to appeal to the male gaze while completely ignoring the fact that she's a child. And dressing her with that expectation on purpose is very strange. Idk how you could reconcile that. A 16 yr old kid can still look fashionable and such and still dress like a kid. It’s sad, but she was set up for this to happen. Her parents were sus from the beginning, selling everything they had and moving to Hollywood to make her a star, letting her be styled much older than she is, letting her associate with men much older than her (Drake). As a parent who went through this type of situation with my teen daughter, there is only so much one can do. The police would not allow the parents to take out restraining orders; only the daughter could do that, but when the daughter is convinced she is "in love" and that "age doesn't matter", there isn't that much parents can do. They sneak around behind the parent's back and pull all sorts of stunts and secret rendevous. So don't assume the parents were at fault or never tried to stop anything. You aren't in the family; you don't know the full details and only see the man and the girl. It's not fair to so harshly blame the parents. I hope one day you don't have to go through something like this as a parent yourself. It was hell and lasted several years until the daughter went to college out of state. Then it became a different kind of anxiety. Fortunately she never got pregnant and has a steady guy now close in age.

Honestly same. I’ve never watched PLL but there was this Japanese drama that I’d watched as a teenager where a 17yo boy gets involved with a 30-something female teacher, and back then i would be like ‘let them be in love!’ and antagonise everyone that tried to separate them. Because at the time I put myself at the teenager’s place cause I was the same age. Now that I’m 30, I see myself more as that teacher, and it makes me understand how fcked up it truly is. Like I would NEVER EVER. The fact that this kind of stuff is still often seen as normal romance, forbidden love, instead of the bullshit it truly is is mind boggling.

Whether they want to admit to it or not, it's because dating someone that much younger than them makes them easier to manipulate and that's it. It's gross. Personally I think age gap relationships are fine when both are ADULTS. But when it’s a child and adult that’s a different story... younger adults (18-25) are yes still finding themselves but I feel are developed enough to make less emotional decisions then a 14-17 year old

Parents knew about it... I had my parents encouraging me to date a 17yo when I was 13. We had a 3 1/2 age difference. He didn't groom me cos he was also manipulated but it f*cked me up and still is a decade later. I can't image what a girl with fame would deal with. Shes too young to handle what she has had to outside of sexual stuff, she deserves better

When I was 14 I had a 30 something year old teacher groom me. He would gaslight me to the point where I really did feel crazy.
He would say "What? I don't watch you changing in the locker room. Youre always the last one to change. I think you must be seeing things since you're scared of being alone in there." And "Geez, I take you out because I'm trying to be supportive and you think it's a date?" And "I was only feeling you because your hair and skin are soft and smells good. ANYONE would've wanted to feel that softness and take in your scent. Here, don't I smell good? Touch me like this too. It doesn't mean anything, it's just human nature. Stop trying to make things weird, when it's not." It was horrible, because he was handsome and everyone liked him, no one believed he would do something like that. Heck, I couldn't even trust my own understanding of the situation. All I knew was that I didn't like it.

we were together for 3 years and it was awful. I have never been as sickly, thin, quiet, and FEARFUL in my life than those 3 years with that man.
I'm 22 now, dating s 22 year old who treats me so amazingly and loves me and cares about my health.... hes truly a dream partner 💕💕💕

Love love LOVE that you refered to him in the title primarily by his connection to Millie, an acomplished actress, and not just by his name. Usually women in are known for who they are to men rather than by their own acomplishments and its satisfying to see that flipped on its head. Although its not difficult when his only claim to fame is grooming a child and using her for clout....

I was groomed as a teen. It took me years to understand what was happening. But it happened. And he was the same way, just so proud of what he was doing to me. Emotional trauma like NO tomorrow. Of course it's still difficult to recognize it, and I was mad at myself for not understanding sooner... but I'm hella glad I made it all come to light. I feel for Millie 1000%, and it's so great to see that she hasn't let this control her. She's fighting for what I wish I could've fought for as a child, but I didn't feel my voice was heard enough.

when I was 14 i started dating an almost 19 year old. I thought i was so mature, he said I was so more mature then girls my age. Shit he lived with us a year. I did things i didn’t really want to, for a year.
When I finally got out of it I started to realize what happened. I was being groomed for almost 2 years. I gave myself the blame for allowing it. I needed and still need time to accept what happend.
no matter how mature you think you are, you are a child not a woman. you are being groomed.
