In loving memory - Richard Williams (1933-2019), not only you will be remembered for Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, you will always be remembered to me for spending nearly 30 years of your lifetime for trying to create your finest animated masterpiece, The Thief and the Cobbler which it ended up never being completed. Also remembered for Raggedy Ann animated film, A Christmas Carol animated special and Ziggy's Gift, as well as opening titles for films such as What's New Pussycat?, Casino Royale, The Charge of the Light Brigade and two Pink Panther films. He will always be missed. 😥
6:00 Of course, he was talking about his long-in-development magnum opus “The Thief and the Cobbler”, which sadly due to his insistence on perfectionism and constant delays got taken out of his hands and turned into an absolute travesty... Tragic ain’t it? But seriously though, RIP Dick
2:32 ,3:56: No only was Charles Fleischer adorable when he was alot younger here back then, but when he does Roger, it's even more adorable! ^^ Also, R.I.P. Richard Williams, say hi to Mark Baker (AKA Raggedy Andy from Your "Raggedy Ann And Andy: A Musical Adventure" movie for me! ^^ )
You can tell that his ego got in the way when it came to him working on the Thief and the Cobbler when he said that. He completely jinxed that prediction.
Jackie Gonzalez I bet he was glad to get Roger Rabbit over with. Plus, how could he not care about his Oscar for his adaptation of A Christmas Carol (1971)? He should be proud of what he achieved.
Jackie Gonzalez It’s a hustle. You’re supposed to take any opportunity you can to fund your passion project and never let your passion project be your only priority. He fluffed up many of his chances to reach deadlines for his passion project and even went over budget occasionally.
Originally, when I saw somewhat of this video, I think it made me believe that Robbin was better at doing cartoon voices than Charles. Now I'm able to see this whole clip I'm thinking, the whole bid was not bad after all.
I think the one he himself took out was a mistakenly-took-out Oscar, chances are he didn't know there's one at the podium already so he picked one up himself.
"Great cartoon voices without great animations would simply be...'Radio.'"
That is SO TRUE! :D
Richard Williams is an animation LEGEND. Right up there with Chuck Jones, Max and Dave Fleischer, etc.
C.J. O'Dell And May he Rest In Peace
Robin Williams genius miss him
RIP Robin & Richard Williams
you took the words right out of my mouth

I wish there are more animators like this guy, along with Chuck Jones, Eric Goldberg and Glen Keane.

Who Framed Roger Rabbit has great animation direction.
'The best is yet to come' is honestly a haunting line...
Richard Williams: "The Best Has Yet To Come" (Yet He NEVER Gets To Finish His Long-Time Passion Project "The Thief And The Cobbler" 😭)

It's sad that The Thief and the Cobbler had problems.
I hope a documentary about voice actors of the 1950s, 1940s, or 1930s wins an Oscar
6:00 The Best Is Yet To Come.... the thief and the cobbler
Me = Oh No , The Problem Has Come .
It's Sad
@@gamecube8885 bu5 atkeast the ending of the production is bittersweet .
He seemed so excited. Like finally I can finish it.
If you guys are wondering why Richard has two Oscars here, it's because he had just won for Best Visual Effects a little while before this.
I love and miss him so much❤️the funniest man to have ever lived.
Robert Zemeckis is one of the smartest directors working. I miss the days when he reigned supreme with silent visual effects.
4:10 Had me laughing so hard I had tears coming out!!! 😂 😂
OMG, What a presentation....Good Old Days huh?
please stop using that dumb phrase,
6:00 Sorry but it wasn't soon Richard
Yeah , that will take a quite long time . And why you just started storyboarding in 1990s
Happy Birthday Robin Williams!!
