      I agree, I just wish they would capitalize on the rich heritage that they have and refresh their bikes. I know the Iron 883 is a basic and purpose-built bike, but the demogaphic that purchases bikes like these are starting to demand more from the manufacturer in terms of rider aids and creature comforts. Indian does a very good job of this keeping these simple but very modern.

In my 48 years of riding all types of bikes (Japanese, European and U.S, 175cc - 1600cc) I consider it one of the nicest looking bikes I've owned. In addition, with mid controls, it fits me (5'6") well ergonomically and with forward controls would be a good fit for taller riders. It has respectable power and cruising at 70-80 mph is no sweat.

      All depends on your ride style, it can be mellow but you can also make it a monster, to be honest I ride the shit out of mine I have a 2019 that has black denim paint, I’ve done the intake the pipes tuner, bars grips trims lights lmao but it is a lot of fun

      @Mark Andrews an iron 883 is kind of a small bike to be honest, and comes stock with mid controls for your feet, which is a perfect setup for a shorter person, off the top of my head weight is somewhere around 600 pounds as to a big Harley weighs around 8-900,

    • @bakedbeanz4510
      @bakedbeanz4510 2 года назад +1

      @Mark Andrews she could easily ride my brothers Harley and his is around 850 pounds, yes it is a lot of weight but you’d be surprised what your legs can hold up, the biggest thing I can say is don’t let it worry you, pay attention and always be open to learning tips of riding, I originally bought a 1971 sportster which was an iron head and pretty much the same as the newer 883 but you shifted with your right foot instead of your left, that was the bike I learned to ride on, no endorsement we I started out, brought bike home got on it and rode down the street, continued from there sold that bike and bought my 2019 easiest way to get an endorsement is do your practice then find a place that uses scooters for road test

    Man your Bike sounds awesome! I had an Iron 883 myself in germany and I can tell ya the prices went absolute CRAZY. Since the sportsters are not allowed to be sold new anymore in the EU because of emission restrictions, the 2020 model was the last one to be sold new here. Dealerships are not allowed to sell the 2021 model. Therefore the prices for used bikes did explode completly. I sold my used but near new 2020 iron 883 with 700 miles on it for 12900 Euro in mai 2021, which is something about 15.000 dollars right now! And there was no expensive customizing on it, was completly stock

The Evo motor is the most raw, authentic and historic motor you can get from HD atm and it is out there for an eternety so it should be reliable and bulletproof. No other motor in the harley line can give you that particular "good old times" shaking Harley Feeling. My #3 is the sound. I really thing this engine has character to it. My #4 is the customizability and my #5 is - it´s perfect as a 2nd "ride ´round town" bike. I now ride a 1000cc Versys from Kawasaki with hardcases and windshield - perfect for highways and longer distances and trips. I just spent the day on a rented 2016 Iron 883 and it was a blast. It's narrow and lightweight compared to, say, a Shadow 750, which makes it very approachable, and it has a fun kick of torque available at lower speeds. Here's the thing: It's a VISCERAL experience to ride. If vibrates like crazy (but smooths out for a bit between 50-65MPH), shifting gears gives you a loud, solid CLUNK every time, and the ENGINE is noisy - not unpleasant sound, but you are 100% aware that there are a whole bunch of components in it doing their thing. For a ~150 mile day of bombing down backroads exploring, it's a hoot. I would no recommend it if you're someone who frequently takes longer rides (very comfy seat though). I'll stick with my Shadow 750 Aero for the type of riding I do, but I look forward to the next time I can throw a leg over a Sportster. I need to try the 1200 next!

    Or the 6th reason too buy the best looking Harley Davidson in decades, it's the end of the line, their collectors items.
    Sadly the best looking bike on the market won't be in production anymore as of today.
    01/07/2021 financial year marks the end of the Iron 883 & all Sportsters.
    End of a era, sadly for all the tyre kickers out there they can only look & drool as the rest of us make noise as we rumble on down the road.
    I'm sad about this but I'm lucky enough to own one of the best machines Harley Davidson ever designed.

Just have a couple of questions if you don't mind. How are the brakes and handling? I'm not intending to go flat out just leasurely rides and in my country we don't have too many straight long roads since it's a pretty small country (Malta, EU). Also I've read online that they drip oil from the air cleaner due to a blowback pipe or something. Do you have issues with oil dripping on your pipes/right leg? Thanks in advance and great video + bike

    Best thing about the 883 is 2 passes thru the cylinders with a boring bar removes about a 1/2" of iron, a couple of wiseco 9.5 to 1 compression big bore pistons and you got a bike with some serious grunt, about doubling the power of the stock 883 wich is now 1200+ ! Also drops about 5lbs of high center of gravity weight for better corner scratching and the thinner cylinders run cooler, did mine before the first oil change was due and it hasn't missed a beat in almost 30, 000 mi and I never get tired of twisten the throttle.

    Ive been riding Harley's for over 40 years and that bike doesn't need to be a first bike in fact I really don't like everyone saying that about every smaller displacement bikes

    Why is everyone on the left line? Do you have any rules in the US? Like, stay closer to the right side of the road whenever possible?

    Great video man. Looking at getting an 883 within the year. If you don’t mind me asking what do you pay to insure the 883?

    A Sportster is not a bike for beginners. It's heavy, it's powerful and one needs to know how to handle it.
