The thing a new owner MUST ABSOLUTELY DO FIRST is place the mirrors under the bars. You cannot see a THING with the factory setup. And it doesn’t cost a dime to do.
Watched this video and took the plunge on buying a 2k 2014 883, my first bike since a gsxr750 20 years ago, love the bike, love the brand and even love the seat, plenty quick enough for uk roads, thanks for my pre purchase review…
*In the US, when they talk about speed it's usually because they're on the country roads.* The 883 is best in the city and suburbs. Some have said it's more maneuverable than the Iron 1200.
About the seat, I love the seat. As a female I find the seat super comfortable. My husband changed his seat on his bike because the same reason you talked about. But I will always choose this seat. The cushion between my legs is part of what I like. So yes men don’t love the bulky-ness but I do.
I'm 55+, never rode a bike, and currently learning how to ride. And this has my attention. Any advice for me wether or not it's for beginners? Weight?. Also first 2 things I'd change is the exhaust ( I like them loud) and seat
I would prefer the 883 over the 1200 because the 1200 has a gap between the seat and the fuel tank. The 883 has a different seat which hides that gap. I've never owned a Sportster, but have always loved them. I've owned 16 motorcycles, three of which were Harleys, two Heritages and a Tri Glide and I'd still love to own a 883. When we travel we ride 400 to 500 per day, but we take breaks every hour or hour an a half, and we never travel faster than 65mph and a Sportster can do that just fine. LONG LIVE THE SPORTSTER!!!
If you don’t flip those mirrors right off the dealer floor, you’ll see nothing but shoulders and arms lol. But it’s such a beautiful machine. It’s the quintessential Harley to me
I own a 2017 883. Male 5'11" 200lbs. I agree. Seat and exhaust. Your good too go. Saddleman makes a great longer seat that sits you back little farther. Other than that I have no issues with the riding position.
About to buy a 2021 883 come Thursday. First bike I’ve ever officially owned. I couldn’t be more excited. The seat isn’t too bad, definitely going to look into changing it. But 100% changing the mirrors asap. Couldn’t see for shit on my test ride. 😂 thank you for the honest review!

Excellent review. Informative, funny, no stuttering, no redundancy of information, and it felt a little personal in a good way as well like he’s a buddy.
My first bike was a 2015 883 iron! I didn't know how to a motorcycle but I taught myself on the 883. I'm a small guy 5ft 4, so it fit right for me. I rode from Kansas City to Oklahoma and Arkansas on it with no problems! But yes the stock seat sucks! I ended up getting a different seat that was more comfortable. I got a lot of compliments on my 883. It is slow but it will take off faster than the Street Glide but eventually the Street Glide will catch me. I got rid of it and bought a naked sports bike. Loved the sport bike but their were times I wished I still had the 883 to just to cruise on. I'm thinking about getting another 883. They are better than what people think. Top speed is only 110 after you break it in. Not fast but not exactly slow either.
I dont care what ANYBODY says the Iron series look COOL! Theyre just like lil Bobber style bikes. Like a Manny Paquia- small and ready to kick some ass (Seat and Bars would have ro be changed out on 883 though 😂)

First thing I did within the first month was, I got 12” handle bars. Longer cables (brake, throttle and clutch) so that I wasn’t leaning over as much with the stock bars. I also have a bad back… exhaust was 2nd and now looking for a new seat and forward controls. Definitely a great bike to learn, enjoy riding and very customizable to your specific riding style. Highly recommended!
I just bought a 2009 Sportster. I got a good price on it and am going to spend $1,500. on Ohlin rear shocks. I have ordered a different seat. So I am going to have a smooth ride. Im sure they make a forward control relocation for it. Thanks for the video. What did you think of the 883's suspension? I had a '98 883 with longer travel suspension and I wonder how they compare? Also, HD seats aren't always the greatest. I put a sundowner seat on my 883 and I should have replaced the seat on my FLD. The 2001 Heritage had the best factory seat of the 3.
It was okay. I mean it's not something I felt I'd HAVE to upgrade but it would def be nice to do. The bridge I cross on the test ride has a pretty good bump and I felt it bottom out. I didn't adjust before riding so maybe that would have helped. I'm 205lb which is a on the heavier side for the average Sporty rider.
I got an 883 two months ago as a first bike... now I want a Fatboy thou not sure if that is advisable since I've heard they are harder to corner with and control.
Hi Good day, Since this bike doesn't have fuel gage , is there any tools or gage i can buy for me to know if i still have gas while cruising? I badly need it so i have 100% full confidence to cruise without thinking the gas

@@throttleblip9854 I am originally from anderson but I live in pelzer now. I own some businesses in Clemson and Easley. I have really been looking into getting my first bike and I keep coming back to the Vulcan S. My buddy bought a iron 883 about a year ago and we got to talking, so I just happened to be looking up some reviews!
That looks fantastic, however, having learned to ride on a 1200 Yamaha Vmax (135hp) and having them available for around $5,000, I can just NEVER justify what HD charges for their bikes, even used a 1200 Sportster here in SD, the home of Sturgis Bike rally, runs me around $6k-7k. I've ridden them, and they are comfortable, but that is literally all they have going for them Even at the same price, the Indian line up is very excellent, especially with the Scout making just over 100hp.
Oh yeah I get that for sure. When I was on sport bikes I wasn't a Harley fan and couldn't understand the appeal. I also thought they were slow. Then I realized 100mph on a Harley felt like 160 on the GSX-R. HAHA. The Harley is just a different experience. At one point I had a Street Glide, a KTM 690SMC super moto, and a 73' Honda Cb350. The Hone was by for the slowest and least powerful but offered an experience so incredibly different than the other 2.
@@throttleblip9854 don't get me wrong, I've ridden them and they feel great! My personal favorite was my 1981 hardtail XJ750. Doing 130mph at 9,000rpm on a hard tail has your soul nearly pulling out of your body. Doing 180 on my sportbike actually was kind of dissapointing. I didn't feel anything lol. I need that performance, stuffed into a comfortable machine. At the budget I'm stuck with, I'd need a $40,000 HD to fill that power niche 😭
You may also want to check out the Triumph Bobber or a Harley Street Bob. Good hunting for your bike. I've owned 16 bikes in 35 years of riding. Hunting and finding the right bike for the moment is fun.

I just bought one & decide to get a little time on the bike before I select another seat. That way I have a good idea of what I want
"it's a nice beginner bike" Aus has a 150-650cc limit for first time riders XD The Rebel 500 is currently king of the cruiser learners here in Aus
Fantastic review!
Im 5'11, would this be a good bike to ride to school and back?
Short trips no problem. I wouldn't want to be on it all day but for commuting its great. Budget friendly. Good on gas. Easy to park.
No, you will need a 10 speed mountain bike as long as you ask an adult first
@@chrisaskme811 lol
I have this exact same bike lol... same color and all 😂😂
I think it's an awesome looking bike. I would have it as a second bike in my stable next to my dyna fat bob 😎
Just got a 2022 883 so hyped
I am going to buy this when I get older
I want that Iron 883 so badly!
Can I fit air suspension in harley davidson iron 883?
I got an 883 two months ago as a first bike... now I want a Fatboy thou not sure if that is advisable since I've heard they are harder to corner with and control.
Hi Good day, Since this bike doesn't have fuel gage , is there any tools or gage i can buy for me to know if i still have gas while cruising? I badly need it so i have 100% full confidence to cruise without thinking the gas
Well I hope it will be there for another 2 years cuz am saving up for this bike for ages now
Nice looking motorcycle! Great video.
Thank you!
they need to make this bike but with forward controls and higher bars. Also I'm 5' 7" coming from mid controls
Я один из тех, кому нравятся стоковое сидение на этом байке)) а насчёт зеркал согласен - или переставить вниз, или заменить на другие)
The interior is like a high-end hotel on wheels.
Just bought one today.
Awesome man!
🙂 Sportser Sportser..My friend has one and I rode it. Me being 5ft. shorty it's ok, the seat yes not comfy. Light weigh different from my 2007 Sportser XL 883L But fun to ride.
Happy Trails & Thank you. Be safe
Cali GooseHD Lady 🙃
Great power band, great sound…what’s not to like in a scooter?
My apple juice and fruit snacks are flying out of my nose and mouth. Lmao.
bro you're from anderson??? thats crazy!!! small world man
Yes sir. You here?
@@throttleblip9854 I am originally from anderson but I live in pelzer now. I own some businesses in Clemson and Easley. I have really been looking into getting my first bike and I keep coming back to the Vulcan S. My buddy bought a iron 883 about a year ago and we got to talking, so I just happened to be looking up some reviews!
Hello, I am 5 Feet 4 inch height and I am planning to buy my first bike. Will this bike fits me?
Brother can I fit air suspension in harley davidson iron 883?
Cool little bike but too expensive new for me, good thing there is a great used market
Had a old kz750 it was fun, 92 Suzuki 600, now looking towards this, the Kawasaki Vulcan s or the Yamaha bolt
You may also want to check out the Triumph Bobber or a Harley Street Bob. Good hunting for your bike. I've owned 16 bikes in 35 years of riding. Hunting and finding the right bike for the moment is fun.
Why don't these bikes have tachs? How do you know when to shift? Nice looking bike but doesn't look like a good fit for taller riders.
Dad of all bikes
Is this bike too small for frequent rides Baton Rouge to San Antonio?
Which is the best Harley Variant for entry level🤔
Fun, dependable & economical transportation...
Would you recommend as a first motorcycle
Theres tons of aftermarket stuff for the 883
Can I install 180 tire kit let me know please awesome bike
If Harley just improve a little the suspension and the seat, reduce vibration and price for 9k, this bike would be perfect.
I don't like how the slipons are not double pipe at the end
will this be a good first bike?
He basically just called a $13000 bike a budget bike 🤣 I agree w the logo. Looks great.
They were 11 which is far cheaper than anything they offer this year 🤷🏻♂️
This was my first bike. 2010
I hate the exhaust on the 1200 S. I hope someone will make some pipes that will put the exhaust back down where it belongs
