- Is this episode we take you on a detailed walk through on the 1989 LS Swapped Jeep YJ Sponsored by Griffian Radiators. The Jeep Wrangler YJ was the first generation of Jeep Wrangler four-wheel drive small off-road vehicles, rebadging and succeeding Jeep's CJ series, produced from 1944 to 1986. The first Wrangler (internally "YJ") was launched in 1986 and ran through 1995. Although the new Wrangler stood out by its square headlights, its body was a direct evolution of the preceding CJ-7, and rode on the same wheelbase. The Wrangler featured an updated interior, offered more comfort and improved safety and handling, through a revised chassis that included wider tracks and a slightly lower stance.
Development of a potential CJ-7 replacement was green-lit in 1982, with engineering and design work (under Chuck Mashigan) commencing. After approval earlier in 1983, a final design freeze occurred by the fall of 1983, with CJ-7 based mules being built in late 1983 and the first production body test prototypes in the spring of 1984. By late 1985, development concluded, as the transition from pilot to series production began. In February 1986, the 1987 Jeep Wrangler was unveiled, entering production that March, and going on sale on May 13, 1986.

First....... 🤓👍
Lucky’s Garage Show you’re awesome luck!
Hell yeah!!!!!
Really nice and sounds bad ass! I like how cleanly you put it together, looks well thought out!
Hey man I’m getting ready to start writing everything I need for a ls swap in my 1995 Jeep yj. What all would you recommend I need.
Was it difficult to get smogged?
Nope ;)
@@gasratzcustoms I have a cj8 with a 5.3 vortec engine swap. The previous owner had it registered in AZ. Do you know of any shops that work with Jeeps and engine swaps? i have called a bunch but they only work on imports. I would really like it to be smogged legit. No chueco.
Hell yeah bro, time to start roasting tires 💨
Perfect summer in the city rig !
hell yeah man!!
Im doing the same how did you hook up the lights and turn signal
Hey there I was wondering how did you manage to get this done with the smog laws in California because I also live in Cali and want to do something similar I love the build and hope to hear from y’all soon🤙🏻
yeah Cali smog laws suck.
What brand is that phone holder? I was looking for that specific type 😂👌🏼
Damn what a dick he ain’t even reply I was interested too
Hey man nice Jeep! I did a 5.3 swap in my 94YJ. I gotta get some videos up soon!
We want to see yours!!!!
Beauty.
Thanks for the love👊🏻
How much do you think it cost you total? Thinking about doing this to my YJ
Man thats rough to say! We started with a $500 junkyard motor.
Lost me at no transfer case 😒😒
I don't understand building a Jeep without 4WD. I built my 1987 YJ with a 5.3L, Turbo 700, 231 Tcase, 8.8 ford rear axle, E-lockers front and rear with chromoly axles. We have a blast with it on the trails. Please run yours on the race track and get some ET numbers.
Yours sound pretty cool! Glad to hear your having fun with and killing the trails!
He says in the video. He lives in the concrete jungle😁
4wd would be a waste of time money and effort
Any problems to make it street legal? Cause I know it’s a hastle here in Cali
More to come on that;)
What’s the difference in width on the 8.8 compared to the factory Dana 35 on a 90 YJ?
so the reason u made a 4x4 2wd is because you dont want to drive offroad? LA has alot of offroading around it
Man I wanted to see that rig on the trail!
What trail? It doesn't even have a transfer case.
How do you pass smog?
I wonder how long that DANA35 will last behind all that power? Lol...probably force you to change it sooner than you want to! Nice jeep though!
We already broke it!
@@gasratzcustoms 🤣🤣
Sweet set, minus the 4WD. But what’s up with the dash gages not working in the end of the video? Have you solved that problem? Legit question because I’m looking at a swap myself.
We are running a Holley terminator X so there’s no need to worry about the stock gauge mess. We will be converting to a CJ5 dash in the jeep and getting auto meter gauges to hook up to the Holley system.
Sick! Can’t wait to see the end result!
i just wanna know what kind of coolant reservoir are you running bro ? lol
It was something we bought off Amazon. lol
Going to put a roll cage in the jeep?
Yes!!!!!!!!!
You also going to stick with the stock gas tank or put a bigger one in?
Same tank but going to install an in tank pump!
