    I really dig that Immortal kind of riffs, very nice, and both amps are sick 🔥

    Personally, I tried both too and the straightforwardness of the Fireball was it the final choice.
    Liks you said, Savage is more versatile given the number of channels and the EQ, but it requires way more tweaking than the Fireball.

      @@DeathMetalDevin its the best deal ive ever got on an amp. Seller said he bought it last Xmas, o thought he meant 2022, it was '23, so its only 3 months old, he had the Z4 footswitch and a cover which dont come with the amp... ALL for $1k... By far the best deal ive ever found. (Also found out that he actually had another buyer before me that no-showed, so it was meant to be.) Great work on the content, man.

      @@27retrodaze Bro that’s a ridiculous deal. I got mine last year (about 6 months old, mint condition with very little use) with the Z4 switch for $1500 and I thought that was a great deal LOL. Such a killer amp. Congratulations 🤘

      @@brucemahaffey108 for sure... I own about 15 different heads now, tube and solid state, large and small... That was the best deal ive gotten yet... To be honest with you, its the only reason why i bought it, i really didnt have an Engl on my mind, but i knew it was a great deal... I seem to really like the Fireball more and more every time i play it.

  • @patrickb.b.1015
    @patrickb.b.1015 6 месяцев назад +2

    The savage 120MK II has in the reality such an mean attack and tightness that is reached by NO other ENGL-Amp when the settings are dialed in correctly.Plus it has a upper midrange that lets you cut through a bandsituation as you would weald a sword that cuts through flesh and bones.As a lead guitarist I personally like the savage more.But the combination of both is massive.My bandmate is playing the Fireball and together we get a band-tone that wakes the dead.that is because both amplifies complement each other in certain frequencies.As I mentioned the savage has that ultra-tight aggression and upper midbite while the fireball has a more loose bottomend and more deeper mid frequencies.Savage is bit like a moddet 2203 with a bit Mark V saturation,fireball like a mix of a boosted dual rectifier in low end and that 5150 growl.The complements one and other perfectly.Both are great amplifiers.🤘

      I don’t played it but I know that the lead the first high gain-channel of the FE is the same as the Artist Edition in the high gain channel and the Artist Edition 100 is one of my main amplifiers.Its tight,crunchy,juicy and have that marshallesque top end.

  • @ordohereticus3427

    Opted to watch for the great comparison, but also got excellent riffage!
    Re: Fireball
    The Bright switch only works on the clean channel. Also, the treble is a bit different from the typical high gain amp. It also pushes the upper mids along with the top end, yet it needs to be around 3 o’ clock to really kick into effect - it’ll brighten the amp up nicely if you find it to be too dark with a given speaker combination.

    I have the Fireball with it, a 2x12 horizontal Engl cab and coupled with an mxr fullbore metal and, frankly, nothing better for navigating between death and brutal death metal.

    • @DeathMetalDevin

      Fireball is absolutely killer. After comparing these 2 I felt the Fireball was more aggressive and could basically do all the channels the Savage had so I sold it

  • @AdrianNWB
    @AdrianNWB 7 месяцев назад

    Both great amps, and I’m glad that I went with the Savage MKII 120. The lead channel on the Savage is just a tad more crisp, plus the MIDI capabilities made it a no brainer for me, as I don’t have to tap dance with my pedalboard. It also pairs very well with my Revv Generator 120.

  • @trevorshear7737

    Both the amps sounded brutal.Here the Savage felt better than the Fireball in my opinion.

  • @cizmar1972
    @cizmar1972 5 месяцев назад

    I prefer the Fireball. You do have to dial it in a little more to brighten it up a touch. But the simplicity and cost cannot be beat. I do use a 10 band EQ in the loop on it.

    I own the savage 120 mkII, I’m not sure if I can get along with it. The crunch channel doesn’t have enough gain, and the lead channel sounds too compressed for my liking. I tend to play my 5150 III 100w stealth in the crunch channel, with a boost it’s perfect.

    • @DeathMetalDevin
      @DeathMetalDevin  7 месяцев назад

      Lead channel is def compressed sounding. I enjoy it knowing it's a Savage and that's what I'd be getting out of it. The Crunch 2 I think has tons of gain. Grant it I have to crank it but it sounds great. I wish I had the 120 to give that little extra push when I use it for practices with the band. Always wanted a stealth. I know it's a beast

      Ugh, I know man... the really grainy one is the go pro of the front of the 2 amps. The other main one was focused on the go pro so I looked fuzzy. One of the angles was good but yeah this one was not repairable in post and I didn't want to shoot it over 🤷‍♂️

    • @DeathMetalDevin
      @DeathMetalDevin  7 месяцев назад +2

      Def, when playing with my band I want that little bit more of a push so it doesn't muddy up with the power tubes when I use the Savage. But we play loud. The Fireball though, no problems

    • @ordohereticus3427
      @ordohereticus3427 7 месяцев назад

      And don’t worry about some of the memes online about these amps “not cutting in a mix”. Some of these have to be dialled a distinct way, unlike the more classic high gain amps, when going against those other amps and speaker combinations in a live setting. With the Fireball, for example, don’t be hesitant about really pushing the treble and the presence when needed as they will also help the upper mids and sizzle stand out in the mix with plenty of punchy low end.

    I own a Savage 60. It as a great sound! But it's not really a great amp for lead tones. For leads I would go 5150 or Marshall. 🤘

  • @gerdhery
    @gerdhery 23 дня назад

    Hey Devin, great comparison 👍🏻
    I also played them both and really can't decide which one I liked more 😅
    You gotta try out the actual available Engl Rackstuff. The e530 Preamp is the perfect combination with the Savage tightness and the Fireball aggression. Paired with the matching e840 Poweramp (or FX-Loop Return into the FB100) this thing is insane. Only downside: no Noisegate
    I made some Demos to the e530, check my Channel if you're interested.
    Cheers from Germany
    Gerd ✌🏻
