I love your style of playing so much man, it's inspirational. I don't think there's an amp head that I'd want more right now after seeing this. I will have the Engl Savage MkII in the future! I will damnit! 😁😁
You know, I normally don't like how you dial amps all that much because I'm more into sludgy old school death metal tones, but you made this thing sound ridiculously bitey and I kind of love it. That pushed clean at the end is great, too
Also a bedroom/hobby player, but I would say to spend the extra for the 120. It still sounds PERFECT at bedroom levels, but it ‘feels’ a bit bigger/fuller than the 60.
5:10 makes it sound like you've been listening to "The Kills - Doing It To Death" in your spare time.. Maybe just a coincidence but! Whatever the case, its in the spirit of "Jamie "Hotel" Hince".
Sting Carlsson I don’t even remember why I commented this. But also Engl’s rely on the poweramp section. So unless you get an engl rack poweramp it’s going to sound a bit different
Great showcase as usual. The amp is nuts and you sound so at home with it. I'd love a blind comparison between the real deal and the synergy - and also, when are we getting that AWOL playthough with Steele?
duck2587 Absolutely! Amongst the various tones in the amp, it has a beautiful liquid lead that loves modulation pedals for a neo classical/power metal shred tone. Had mine for 6 years and that’s part of what I use it for.
Does the gate auto adjust depending on volume and the amount of gating is selected on the back? I ask this cause with a normal gate every time the volume changes the gate needs to be adjusted as you know. So it would be a pain changing the threshold on the back every time. But that is what pedals are for I guess, if you needed to switch settings on the fly. Anyways just curious cause it sounds great an seems really well designed. On my Marshall DSL100HR the reverb is very minimal but it's a great tone shaping tool so if you want more effected reverb you can just use a pedal. I brought that up cause I'm wondering if the noise gate on this amp is meant to be used in a similar way. Or I'm a moron and it's actually just a noise reduction not a gate on the engl in which case that makes more sense lol.
Jesse Beausoleil Lol I was also annoyed. I saw some vides from the 70’s with real big string spaghetti. I was triggered 🤯 its like if you don’t clip your nails. When I see that I also notice

Oh man I want this amp so bad. I own the powerball 2 already which is a fantastic amp as well. But Engl knocked it out of the park with this one. Even the cleans sounded really good also due to the great playing of course. Great demo but not so great for my wallet.😅

Derrota Mundial I’ve actually never spent much time with a Herbert, although I did find it too compressed for my tastes. I like dryer amps that require me to try and play if that makes sense.
Rocketronica depends if you’re going to be recording in the same room. The volume here on the master was quite low but in the room it was really quite loud.
What tuning are you using in this video? When playing non muted notes on the E string they sound so much like steel cables with beautiful tone and definition, how do you do that?
StateofMass yes a little bit. 6550 will have more bottom and deepness to the bottom end. El34 will be a bit more dry. Only with this amp though. I’ve tried both.
StateofMass I honestly I like them both. They are still very close in sound. The differences in tubes don’t really matter that much with this amp because there is a plethora of options to dial the sound that you want. You can get them almost identical. If I had to pick, I would go with the 120 because I am a standard tuning player and I am able to crank my amps. Which I love to do.
duck2587 I wanted to get the 120 for more head room. Also, why not get double the watts for only $100 more haha? I play anywhere from standard to A standard. I do hang out more in the Drop B to B standard area. Thanks for your input man! This helps a lot!
I thought about getting this one but decided on getting Invader 2 instead it cost more but I am completely happy with my choice, I installed the wizard module also.
Voag 1 Can’t go wrong with either one. Had both, kept the Savage. I felt that the Savage could cop a similar tone to the 5153, but the 5153 can’t hit that ultra chunky, percussive, pissed-off sound quite as brilliantly as the Savage. 5153 has a better traditional sounding crunch channel, though.
awesome video, awesome playing, awesome amp man! But dude, you need to check up your back and neck, unless you want your back to have a 90 degree angle in 10-20 years!
Rodrigo Gouvêa believe it or not, I can’t afford to go get it fixed. Quite a specific injury that’s 6-12 of physical therapy. I tried the NHS but it wasn’t doing anything, tried private and after 1 session it felt a hell of a lot better, but it’s £100 a session and I need it 3-4 times a week for 6-12 months unfortunately, my fault from bad decision making 4 years ago.
Jesus Christ some one call a priest! That damn thing sounds like its possessed! What about the clean channel?hahaha oh hahaha! The bottom end of this thing is percussive as fuck. Your playing style is really pushing this thing thru its paces. How loud is it in your room? What's the volume setting at? What I'm getting at is this sounds great the way it is. Just wondering how much of that 120 watts you are using. I really like this amp, just debating if I should try the 60. Have you played the 60? Posted comment not waiting til the end. This is the first amp I have heard in ages that made me want to play through real amps again.
same here. it has a really nice tone
It's the fucking greatest amp ever
I would also recommend you to try out Wizard and Fortin amps.
If that’s the case then you need to play on a fortin amp. I feel like nothing really competes except this amp and a few others
Engl makes the best amps for my money. They're the most versatile, and can pretty much do any tone you want and still get heavy as fuck.
I have this sickness, its called champagne tastes and kool-aid pockets. 😂 dude your Duvells sound so good. ENGLs pretty sick too
Mr Hamburgler thanks mate!
Note: how does Browne make his tone more articulate and aggressive? He lowers the gain. @23:43
Good pickups and new strings make it extra spanky too!
pickups, proper strings, leveraging his EQ properly, and a noise gate. the noise gate is crucial
I love your style of playing so much man, it's inspirational. I don't think there's an amp head that I'd want more right now after seeing this. I will have the Engl Savage MkII in the future! I will damnit! 😁😁

Nice and smooth punch in your face sound! Loved ,\m/
ENGL shall give me savage!
Damn that amp sounds killer.. If my wife doesnt kill me, Im looking to get the 60 watt version sometime (just a bedroom/hobby player, no need for 120)
Might look into the ironball. It doesn't sound quite as good as the invader to me but it's a great metal amp with a built in power soak
Also a bedroom/hobby player, but I would say to spend the extra for the 120. It still sounds PERFECT at bedroom levels, but it ‘feels’ a bit bigger/fuller than the 60.
Tone at 12:15 was golden
I'd love to see you get your hands on a PRS Archon 100 or 50. Probably one of my favorite amps
Jason Harkin Music the archon is the easiest amp I’ve ever played. Just turn it on and it sounds good anywhere. You can’t make it sound bad
I have an Engl but when I record i use vst but in practice the engl always gives me a brutal tone
Amazing! Thank you.

I think I like the sound of the purple nightmare better, what are your thoughts on the two? I’m going to buy one of the two but I can’t decide...
Super cool John. Gotta get me an Engl one of these days
pretty awesome. it's crazy to me that synergy doesn't let you put whatever tubes in the power amp of the heads.
Synergy sounds thinner in comparison.
Sting Carlsson I don’t even remember why I commented this. But also Engl’s rely on the poweramp section. So unless you get an engl rack poweramp it’s going to sound a bit different
I need a Mayones Regius 6 or 7. The Duvell sounds Glorious though. EMG's ?
Great showcase as usual. The amp is nuts and you sound so at home with it. I'd love a blind comparison between the real deal and the synergy - and also, when are we getting that AWOL playthough with Steele?
Engl sounds bigger and beefier than synergy, there is a video to prove it. Synergy sounds like a toy in comparison.
Was wondering if you were ever gonna make a video again lol. I’ll have to watch this when I get home. Too long to watch at work 🤣
Jack Elliott sorry been slammed! Tours, riffhard etc
Oh I’m sure. Living the dream!
Engl's have the most clarity and note definition than any other amp company.
You need to try a Rev Gen 120 MKII on C3
FRYETTE
It takes a seat after fryette KSR, Revv & my current favourite Red Seven
is this one more rhythm and the powerball for leads
How do you compare the savage to Invader?
Lee J the invader to me was slightly less aggressive, more mids, and not quite as ‘dry’. A bit more saturated.
I play Ubershcall and am waiting for this amp to reach Australia and have them both in my rig...(A/B them)...then my search for tone is over.
Results?
Oh shit, have you been losing weight? You're looking great, my dude!
Casey Blackmon probably just my posture in my chair. Don’t get it wrong, I’m only getting fatter.
@@JohnBrownemonuments Pump the Iron my friend. Regards...
Would love if Mr. Browne could do that comparison with the synergy savage and this one. Pliiiiis.
No amp bites as Engl does. It's like Pitbull grabbing and not letting go. Does the amp go through the cabinet under and through mics, or IRs?
I love this amp
But is it good for a standard tuning shred player?
