Very handy! :)
Dear lort! I just spent the last 20-25 minutes learning the spots and clicking to them before I saw this. xD
I'm going to add this to my description because it's way to handy!
@@SonicDriveStudio You forgot "@" before all the timers in your descr 😉
@@SonicDriveStudio Hi there, perhaps you could do another quick video where you edited out all these isolated parts together for easy listening comparison? Thanks a 1000 beforehand!
man that PRS sounds nice
yeah right, along with mesa solo head
Man, I've been in this business for years, but I swear - this PRS sounds the best in this clip.
@@franzmaurer7108 totally agree, mid forward, tight, defined, fuckin rips
@@ScottBrunelleMusic The only thing it lacks when compared to for example EVH 5150 III 50W EL34 is punch in the low end, it's very noticible when using good headphones. But in the mix, you can easily fill that space up with bass
I agree. A few sounded mushy, the PRS was crisp.
That Dual Rec just always slays. It just fills the spectrum so nicely and feels so open in the top end. You have a particularly nice sounding example too.
Love your videos. Songs and production are amazing. This one is 💯
Jon, thanks again for the tremendous work and all the effort you put into making this video!
Thanks for the kind words and encouragement!
That sounds killer man, us asual. It's very kind of you sharing this comparison over here.
I can't decide which one I want to buy. I want them all. They all sound so amazing and unique. Btw, that time code in the description was super helpful for hearing the clear differences between amps.
That Laney IRT is sweet. Song is stuck on repeat in my head, thanks!
Your videos are the reason I bought my Orange Dark Terror.!! 🤩 it’s Powerful.
What a project!! Nicely done!
Cool guitar parts as well!
Rock on!
Great video man, Awesome riff, hard to pick an amp that sounds best but i like the PRS MT15, great demo !!!! well done
This channel is awesome. I think this test would be even better to show people what all this sounds like with *exactly* the same IR for every amp. IR/real world speakers in cabs make a massive difference, but amps always decide the initial tonal balance and distortion character and feel varies a lot. Love it
PRS pretty much nailed it. Heavy and highly defined sound. But let’s say that everyone of them with the JMP 1 pre would sound killer.
Hard to pick man they are all dialled in so tight! Excellent video man.
“ThEy AlL sOuNd ThE sAmE!!”
-Everyone listening via phone speaker
Same on headphones big jbl. In song will be too same
Павел Сверчков I disagree. I use very affordable studio headphones. The MG900 to be exact. In between each brand of amp is a pretty big difference, but for example going from Rectifier to Rectifier or going from EVH to EVH of course there’s not going to be a huge difference

I'm listening on my phone speakers just cause my headphones aren't on me at the moment - and I can hear clear differences. And I'm barely a guitar player haha.
Waste of time. Poor test parameters. There ain't a dollar's worth of difference:) Besides driven amps all sound the same to start with:)
Really love the tone on that dual rectifier, that sorta low end bulk, mid-high end rasp is great.
Great video.... Surprisingly, I like the sound of the Laney Ironheart 60.. Thanks for posting
Man, I can watch your videos all day long...!!!
I liked the Engl fireball 100 and Laney Iron heart 60 the best. A couple of the oranges really surprised me. Great video!
So many amps! Twas a good watch, sir...
Wow both the Marshall's Sounds like a Hell ! out of all the others !!!! that's a very warm gain ..
Superbly useful video thanks and well played.
Everything sounded great IMO. None sounded disappointing to me. I've always been happy with the 6505+ head that I've had for so long, but you've gotta' love that Dual Rec tone. And I agree with some others regarding the PRS MT15 bringing it pretty nicely for a low-wattage amp, very focused. The nice cab sims definitely seem to play an important role in getting such good sounds.
The best thing about this video is that you made all of these amps sound amazing! I see a lot of review videos from popular websites and retailers that make the equipment sound like shit. Like if you just type in Orange Tiny Terror into youtube, you'll get dozens of videos that don't do that little giant justice. Dual Rec and EVH el34 take the win for me. Definetely subscribing! Thank you!
Thank you! Much appreciated!
clear explanation of the main features of each amp, including current price, showing the settings, same riff, great video and sound, not to mention a delightful riff. Man !! You did a fantastic job!!! Thank you so much for sharing!! Now ...what is your favourite??? All of them seem to get close to your tone, I guess Mesa and Eng are the best.
Thanks for your kind words! My favorite... hmmm. In the case of this video I would say these were some of the best ones for me personally: JMP1, Dual Terror, Mark V 35 but I loved most of them in their own way tbh.
This just made me want to get a 5150/6505 even more, sure the dual rectifier has more punch but it also costs hell of a lot more. Surprised to see a couple of the Orange-amps sounding that good also. Good video :)
I am blown away by the PRS o.O !!! I didn't expect it to be that chunky and throaty. I don't know how it would do with a singer in the mix but clearly it sounds gorgeous. I don't know if it's the result of double tracking but most amps give a lot of space in the middle which I believe is perfect for the mix.
Thanks for taking the time to make this video! Very helpful for prospective amp buyers. I was thinking if getting an Invective 120 but now I'm thinking the PRS MT15 sounds damn good for way less.
It sounds really good yes!
Mark from Periphery, ironically, plays the MT15 when he doesn't have his fractal axe. The Invective is very versatile for a Peavey, and there is also a 15watt Invective now. I love Periphery, and both amps you state, but unless you play live and need 120watts, I'd go with the MT15. But take a look at the smaller Invective too. I bet the 15w Invective paired with the MT15 would be a Great stereo rig.
Great vid. Great playing. I like all of the amps, but I’m digging the lunchbox amps right now. The Engl’s of course sound amazing. The Peavey 6505MH sounds great but I also like the Grandmeister 40 deluxe a lot. I think it’s a great amp that is underrated.
What is your opinion on the Ultra channel? Personally I have been using and enjoying the Lead channel more. Your video on the GrandMeister is awesome as well. Maybe you could do a video using the Grandmeister with different boost pedals and or other pedals.
This was really neat. The very beginning of the riff (first 12 seconds or so) gave me a very Deftones vibe which I love. Very cool riff and excellent amp collection!
Thank you! I can't deny that Deftones has been a huge inspiration for me.
@@SonicDriveStudio What is your tuning here, drop C?
@@tarasbulba4512 drop C#
@@SonicDriveStudio Thank you. Very memorable riffs.
Good job! Amazing tone! \m/
such a cool riff mate !
Really dig the riffs!
I would be perfect if you upload the separate wav files of each amp alone, plus the di if possible so we can analyze the difference in our own daw without RUclips shitty compression. 10/10 flawless as always.
I second this.👍
What a nice shootout! Holy Moly! Big thumbs up!!!
This was just FUN TO WATCH haha. Loved it
Glad you enjoyed it! :)
that PRS amp must be the most underrated amp on the planet
I would love to hear all these amps through the same cabinet just to see how much the cabinet changes all these amps. Love the video great job!
That would be the most useful thing to do. Pure sound a driven chord or riff and a clean one....
Here my comparison 10 real Amps and same Real Cab: www.sinmix.pl/2017/04/21/10-amps-and-one-cab-comparison/ You can find also part II on my website - one Amp and 10 diff cabs.
I vote for use the same IR for all of the amps, otherwise it is not a fair comparison, but to show that all of these amps could achieve a heavy tone.
Dude, Hughes & Kettner Grandmeister Deluxe 40 too much characteristic !!! Cool stuff ! \m/
the riff is so good
Just became your 10,000th sub. Cheers for the vid man 🤘
Woah, that's awesome! Thank you so much! :)
This confirms how much I love my OR15, keeps up with the greats and I think even beats most of them. I'm slowly becoming an Orange fan, used to not like them. Great job on the demo!
Love these kind of videos. Would be cool to hear some with just the amp too.
Great demo😀
Dat riff is amazing!))
I'm using Helix native (because of your amazing videos) and its sounds awesome compared to real amps and other VSTs. Thank you very much, Helix was a discovery for me!
It sounds amazing next to the real amps!
@@SonicDriveStudio has helix gotten much better in the last couple of updates? Because when I had it I thought that vsts like th3 were much more amp like...
@@WholeLottaBulldog I agree. I use mostly helix native now but there is something special about th3 that makes it feel more real.
@@WholeLottaBulldog I don't know if they changed anything in the existing amps but the more recent additions sound killer! I also really dig a lot of the older ones though so perhaps they made some enhancements after all....
Thx for includig the JMP-1. Genius move.
Thanks! I got that one a short while ago for only 200 euros!! A buy that I don't regret! ;)
@@SonicDriveStudio Yeah, me too, it was 300 EUR, changed tubes, and run it through an EL84 20/20. Just like old times.
Killer vid instant sub!
*Nice test ! Thanks !* 🤘🏻
The JMP-1 sounds REALLY great!
The tiny and the dual terror is definitely my type of vide
Excellent Video! Thanks!
This was a huge Englound's "Will it chug?" demo.
in this style and settings displayed, the ones that I would pick for making records would be prs, evh's both, mesa mini & mk v, fireball, ironheart. If I had to narrow down to three: prs, fireball & ironheart. most precise sounds and distinctive voices to my taste. great video!
Great video. And just proves that with a certain set of pickups, IR and mix you're gonna get more or less the same between different amps. If anything this reminds me why I *don't* need an Axe FX or Dual Rec..
Peavey 6505mh is the deal. Can't beat it for the price. Sounded just as good as the high $$$ amps...
This is one of the best comparisons I've ever seen on RUclips
Have you seen my recent one? One riff 41 amps? I prefer that one :)
@@SonicDriveStudio no but I'm on it!!!
Sweet! I hope you enjoy it!
117,719 views since 31 Oct. That is amazing. Congrats.
I have to say those orange amps stuck out the most to my ear on my little bluetooth speaker as far as sounding different from the rest. Love all these amps though. Evh, peavey , mesa, orange , marshall , laney , shit I'd roll with any of em . Appreciate the vid. It's fun just watching somebody jam on all these bad boys. Lol
Oh and getcha a randall satan or randall thrasher or diavlo up in the party man.
Amazing job mate !
Cheers!
Nice video, i would have loved to see some hybrid amps in there such as the micro terror, Joyo zombie and Vox MV 50.
Great video!
Getting a deftones vibe
Good Job Man, you are crazy haha
I'm slightly biased for the PRS MT15 (coz i have it and i think for the price and the sound it's the best of all).
But all amp you demoed sounds amazing. Each one has its character. ( also the Badonk from Helix is super good, i use it evrytime)
The PRS sounded best to me here too.
They all sounded the same to me.
In the room they certainly didn't sound the same, but this is no news. Everything sounds the same on RUclips.
Still think all my amps sound the same? Check this out: ruclips.net/video/bNhQpw9Jd1I/видео.html
@@viniciusbertucci big sequenced comparisons don't legit for ears =)
For me too
Some amps sounded almost on the same way. But they have a little difference....
Excellent video! Wow!
Marshall DSL for me!
Gracias por el video!!! Great thnks for this video ;)
that PRS sound very nice it reminds me Soilwork !!!
Beautiful guitar.
I have the PRS MT15 solid work horse! I have it match to a 2×12 half cab equipped with ear candies, amazingly versatile!
Thx!. My ears relaxing )
I too was amazed at home similar these all sounded too...and I'm usually a stickler for guitar tone. I'd argue that 90% of these were no different from each other than moving a mic an inch in any direction.
A few like the JMP1 stood out as being a bit thin and lifeless but I'd be happy with almost all those tones.
I'd love to hear a similar comparison with a way cleaner sound just on the edge of breakup. That's where the tones of various amps vary the most IMHO.
*at how
TH U sounds awesome. Like real Amp!
Epic comparison and amazing work. I'd love of the hear a comparison where the IR is also the same for each amp, since speaker choice makes such an enormous difference in tone. This is super awesome, though.
I have other comparisons on my channel that do use the same IRs
@@SonicDriveStudio You are a tone god. Keep it up!
PRS sounded the best to my tastes! Thick and heavy, but also clear without sounding harsh or fizzy.
I can imagine how much time and effort went into this video. Great video! The riffs are chunky, the meat is spicy! 👍😋
It was a little ambitious haha, but I'm glad I got it done. :)
MOOOOAR GAAAAAS! 😊 LOL great video
so cooooooooooooool ! riff like it mesa dual , angel
Mt15 sounds fckn awesome
Marshall DSL sounded the best overall to me, but that's just me. There are so many great sounding amplifiers in this, fantastic job!
Through my Adam a5x monitors, most of them do sound similar in the mix! Most amps sounded very 5150/6505 based to me. Just the Mesa Boogies, Marshalls and Orange Rockerverb were unique (imo). I think, if you wanna buy an amp , go with that one that feels the best for you, while playing.
I'm on high end studio monitors and they all sound very close! The PRS MT15 sounded the best in this comparison to my ears. Get the most affordable one if you want this tone!
Mesa dual rec kills
Especially with a Mesa 4x12 cab
Very cool! THX to you!
I love them all.. but i am a peavey and marshall fan... that engl was really great..
Total surprise to me that I like the 5150 III LBX far and away the most. It's so perfectly suited for the studio sound - fits in a mix but still sounds gigantic. Time to pick one up I guess?
Damn those Laney's sounded great
Indeed! Underrated amps for sure!
Laney all day. Great amp!
I noticed that too.I especially liked the IRT studio. If you gave it a bit of the 5150 grit and transparency to create a bit more raw string sounds ut would be the best sounding ampmto my ears. I own a 5150 and boost it with an EQ pedal. I'm sorry to say, none of these amps get the sound I am getting currently. ENGL sounds nasally. Axe FX sound weak. PRS sounded great in the mid range vocally but lacked luster in the raw high and lows. Marshalls as usual are very vocal in the mid to high range but lack the grit and some transperency in the sound especially in the highs. Hugues and ketner was ok but nothing fancy. Orange is unique but almost a one trick pony like ENGL. It becomes a signature sound but genre specific which doesn't fit as well with these riffs.
I came here to decide what sponsor I will allow me to use their gear to represent them one day.... ;)
Amazing collection, great shootout. I cant really pick out a winner. They all sound similar in this drop tune register.
The Fractal Axe FX3 sounded the best to me. A buddy of mine has one and says it’s simply has everything he could ever want or dream about when it comes to sound.
Very impressive!
Ahaha504
Great!!!! Perfect for who wants to buy a new amp
after watching this video i deside to go for the cheaper amp coz all sounding the same
Oh, that will help me to choose the (tube) head for home, thanks.
“They all sound almost the same” on the mix... but you can feel the difference mostly on your hands. When you’re actually playing. And, listening carefully you can get the difference
JMP-1 sounds awesome!
God damn I didn't expect that from the PRS.
Top 5: PRS, Jim Root Terror and Dark terror tied for first
Marshall DSL50
Ironball.
..I got some thinking to do before I head to the store to try some out.
I think these videos really speak more to the people who have experienced these amps themselves. The people are saying they sound the same but I’m half way through and I have played every amp so far. They all sound like I remember them. The first three sounded drastically different. I can hear the small and big power sections. I can hear those crazy transients on the 5153. I can hear that rumbly bass on the rectifiers and the kids on the Mark 5. But I only hear those things because I’ve had those amps and felt that myself. You gotta know what you’re listening for in these videos.
I was really surprised by the mini amps and the Engls, laneys, and Hughes and kettners I learned something about.
Badonk amp, sounds nice AF !!
very cool, and a great example of how pretty much every amp sounds the same :)
kind of what I was thinking.... I mean, they all sounded good, and I'm sure that they have way different ranges of what they can do and features, but they all essentially sounded the same in this.
Check this out: ruclips.net/video/bNhQpw9Jd1I/видео.html
@@SonicDriveStudio Great vid, man. Very noticable differences there of course, and you can really hear the different EQ profiles especially coming through. I'd love to see a video where EQ is really taken into account i.e 'The Marshall sounds bright and the Orange sounds dark, but by adjusting EQ, how similar can we make them sound?'. That would be fascinating to me. Anyway, keep up the good work.
6505 cool, because i like fresh
but never forget the root
the right and left finger
foundation of time, silence and great tone.
