Sooo jealous and happy at the same time you guys got to do this. We’ve been wanting to and keep getting our trips canceled from covid and work 😭😭. Happy you guys made the video
Wow! "When you get off the ladder the hardest part begins...." hahaha kissing the flat land at the end. This is an amazing video. I admire your guts for climbing that ladder. It wouldn't be my cup of tea.
Thank you so much!! 🥰 This was definitely a nerve racking adventure, but so fun! Lol kiefer was so ready to be done with that downhill trek 😂 thank you for watching!
Hi, trying to arrange to do this. Any advice on how you get from St. Wolfgang, or other surrounding places, to the stairway to heaven climb start point? Struggling to find cars rentals to get there. Any recommendations welcome! Thank you
@@tineandkiefer we are staying in St. Wolfgang so will be travelling from there to other places but the trying to figure out the best ways to get there or even other via farratas maybe near if you know of any?
@@tineandkiefer but it’s mainly trying to find best way to get to the stair way to heaven one and equipment and so on. Any recommendations or advice would be great x
At least you chose a proper beer! Stiegl Glodbräu, nothing but the best! But I usually prefer the glass bottle. Ngl. I would have taken a can up there too.
Hi! Thank you so much! We stayed in Gosau at Gasthof Gosauschmied and it was only a 5 minute drive to the climb. There wasn't much around there though, just a few other hotels and maybe a bakery. You can also stay in Halstatt which is larger and gorgeus and only about 30 minutes away from the climb by car. Let us know if you have more questions! We also have a downloadable guide about the whole climb if you would like: www.etsy.com/listing/1309881823/stairway-to-heaven-austria-travel-guide?click_key=978fb0a0adf195d812862320a38cd9a0169d476e%3A1309881823&click_sum=156f0c43&ref=shop_home_active_1

We brought our own equipment and did it self guided. I know you can rent equipment and also find a guide to take you on this via ferrata as well. Let us know if you do it! Have fun!
I have done a lot of rock climbing, but never with the cables or via ferreta. Is the equipment easy to use? Do you reckon it can be done as a first time?
Great question! With you rock climbing experience, you're almost ready! I suggest getting at least one or two via ferratas under your belt before trying this one. It is very difficult after the ladder. Good luck!
That's amazing! You''ll have to let us know how it goes! Have you done a via ferrata before? If not, we would HIGHLY recommend a guide. If you're experienced, you'll do great!
I want to do it after making some other ferratas and high tours! But I really don’t enjoy the way down the mountains so I have to ask, it is very difficult? Like inclined and full of lose stones in a small path with the cliff next to it or what kind of path you have to go down?
You should totally do it! The way down sucks, but the ferrata is definitely worth it! The path down is quite rocky and you'll be tired, but nothing too dangerous. Let us know if you end up climbing it! Enjoy! 😀
Hey, I'm planning to climb the donnerkogel via ferrata soon. I have 2 questions: 1. Apart from the expense for renting the gear and the cable transport cost and food, etc. Is there an additional cost just specifically to attempt the ferrata? 2. I'm traveling alone and I can't fly a drone, is there any way I can get some drone footage of myself? Do they offer that, if they do not, is there any other way?
Hi!! There’s no additional cost to do the ferrata ☺️ and the Ferrata is not supervised by anyone, so there won’t be anyone there to offer drone services but maybe you could make a friend at the ladder and trade with them? Good luck and have fun!!
Thank you these people keep playing like "I'm in heaven I get to climb slippery jagged edged rocks!" When I know that stuff is hellish but the high from doing something so difficult and the view makes it seem worth it. I cursed the whole way up and about the last quarter of the way down! I've never said "fts" so many times.
So cool that you've done it! The way down was certainly the worst part for us lol. We also cursed the whole way up while somehow laughing and smiling all at the same time. What a wild experience! Have you done other via ferratas?
@@FrancoisvanZyl-ei6wj Hi! We would not suggest that for your safety. This is extremely dangerous and you should be a skilled rock climber and have via ferrata experience to do it. You do not get anything afterwards- it’s just a via ferrata. ☺️

Why would you want to drink a beer you still have to go back down
Great question lol, it's just a walk/hike down. You don't go down the way you came, so we had a celebratory beer at the top!
Sweat my hands and feet just by watching. So no, I'll pass. 🤣
Totally understandable! :)
I just watched Ally law climb that in slippy trainers and gloves, only carabiner clips on the climb up and he climbed down the ladder back
Epic video and hike. Was this your favourite hike ever?
