Marley´s main justification for war to the eyes of the world was that Paradise broke the truce by letting someone like Eren take control over the founding titan but to be fair, Marley was the one that really broke it first (and several times):
-First they willingly sent hundreds (if not thousands) of their own eldians to Paradise and transformed them into titans to devour the native eldians. That alone is an act of war and an attempt of genocide.
-Eren Kruger stole the attacking titan and transferred it to Grisha Jeager to continue his mission in Paradise. Marley could think eldians from Paradise were also conspiring to steal their titans but that was outside the control of the eldian royal family so Paradise didnt do nothing wrong there (until Eren stole the warhammer titan from them).
-Marley sent the expedition of Marcel, Reiner, Bertholdt and Annie with the intention of capturing the founding titan from the eldian royal family and bringing it back home. That would have left Paradise completely defendless and it would have been an easy prey for conquest by marleyan authorities.
Marley had military, political and economic motivations to wage war against Paradise regardless what the eldians living there chose to do.

Marley had upper hand after halos peace treaty and they were also powerful due to power of titans which resulting marley in exploiting neighboring countries... This basically goes on to show power corrupt ppl n makes them misuse them perhaps the founding titan should take away thr power of titans from all 9 titans or make eldian unable to transform into titan ?? No, there will be still suffering of eldian as they is already hatred on them n they were really backward before hiruzumaki helped them n still lack many things so suffering is an endless thing n power in ppl creates suffering, sufferers seek power so that they don't suffer continuing the cycle.

Marley was conducting military operations BEFORE Eren took over - that was just a convenient excuse.
They wanted the founding titan to do the rumbling against their enemies as they were afraid Titans were becoming obsolete.
They wanted the resources on Paradise.
They wanted to eradicate all Eldians.
Kruger didn't steal the attack Titan, Marley never secured it.

    The way I see it is;
From the beginning, King Fritz warned the outside if they messed around with Paradis then the arsenal of titans surrounding the walls would be unleashed.
The main reason for Marley infiltrating Paradis was for the metal underneath the island (and mass slaughter on the "devil's" inside the wall - like one of the marley peeps said two birds one stone)

I can’t understand, how can you justify killing billions because of the ignorant decision of the few. Would it be justifiable to kill off all germans after the holocaust? Even the ones supporting it. It’s quite a dangerous idea that it’s okay to kill those, who desire death to others. And also the dichotomy of “it’s either the death of all eldians, or the death of everyone beyond the walls” is false, every dichotomy is always false. Aot is a set timeline, so when Eren saw the glimpses of the future, he didn’t see all pf the versions of what could happen, he saw what will happen, as a result of his choices. It was never established that there was no solution that ensured the survival of Paradis that didn’t involve genocide. Eren’s plan to end the cycle of hatred by killing everyone outside is at its root the same, as Marley’s plan to kill all eldians, therefore ending titans and the cycle of hatred, and it’s the same as Zeke’s euthanisation plan, it’s all false. Removing people that you have a hard time not hating will not free you from hatred. It’s like Armin said “in what way are you free?”. Reiner said something once that kinda summarised my point “Eren is the last person that should have that power” Eren possessing the founder and committing global atrocity is the same as Marley possessing it and doing the same. If Armin had a founder, I believe that he would have found a way to ensure peace, at least safety for Paradis without the genocide. Even since the first season, he was always way wiser and better adjusted than Eren, and actually had a correct take and understanding of freedom

Here is the crux of the issue. The world hates the eldians for crimes committed by SOMEONE ELSE. THEIR ANCESTORS. Meanwhile every single eldian alive is a victim of current atrocities committed upon them by marley and the global alliance.
Essentially, the crimes of the eldian ancestors (if they ever happened) are stories that happened to other people, while the crimes of marley and the global alliance are happening now and have impacted every single eldian alive.

It wasn't their ancestors though. It was literally 100 years ago. These aren't your ancestors. Those are your parents and grandparents generation.
Not to mention, Eldia paid nothing for their crimes. Imagine thinking that retreating to a private island and threatening everyone else that your family hurt to stay away or die, makes up for the 2 millenia of killing and slavery that your family perpetuated across the world. 3 times the world's population was killed off by the Eldians. That isn't a light number. You expect them to just leave that especially after being told to suck it up?
There's a reason why people in real life tend to be cautious of the people that harmed them earlier on in their life, regardless of whether they've changed or not
The fact that you have the question if the crimes of the Eldians was real already shows your bias. So Isayama showing us flashbacks of the Marleyans oppressing Eldians is true and all but the flashbacks of the Eldians oppressing Marleyans is questionable?
The last pages show that regardless of what happened, conflict would've still continued. Even if Eren completed the Rumbling, the end pages could still potentially show Paradis Island get destroyed by internal conflict. But then again, yall would just blame that on Marley too lmao

@@willisstillhere8846 that's an extreme stance imo.
It was their ancestors, it was definitely not their parents generation if the events we are talking about happened over a century ago. the walls were built towards the tail end of their empire anyway, by which point the civil war had already happened, so maybe longer ago. But even then, holding people accountable for what their country or ancestors did 100 years ago is like holding someone today accountable for the events of world war 1. No matter how you string it, it makes absolutely 0 sense (which is the point anyway).
it's definitely true that the eldian empire was horrible, but that obviously doesn't justify anything that the marleyan government did after the walls were built. That's literal nazi thinking (which was the point anyway).

Something I feel like a lot of people don't seem to understand is that "Marley", as in the Marley officials/government declaring war and getting all the other nations on board is not the same as every civilian in the world actively trying to kill the Eldians. If the AOT world is anything like our own, I'm sure there are tons not actively against Paradis, for example young children. Eren killing the rest of the world and the rest of the world killing Paradis are the same, killing tons of innocent people for things that they had not control over due to fear that the other side will wipe them out if they do not take this action. Even Eren knows that he is the same as them so idk why so many people seem to miss this.

    • @m_sr406

I agree, but it begs the question what were those civilians in their respective countries doing all this time, while their leaders were getting on board with a nation that has exercised economic, political and military dominance over their countries? We all know there are innocents, like you mentioned, children. But it was so frighteningly obvious that Marley wanted more weapons of mass destruction, a.k.a. the founding titan (eren), and the resources on Paradis to continue on their path to Global hegemony. Yet other nations that have also either have been to war with or colonized by Marley chose to join the coalition (like, whaaaaaat). Where is the protest??? I feel like that is what is missing from the show. I feel like there is no way that masses of people all over the world would not protest their governments involvement, because I certaintly would. Every civilian does not deserve to die, I mean I would be pissed and scared AF if I knew I was going to be squashed to death by a titan, BUT a piece of me would understand how we arrived in these circumstances. I'm just saying there is no doubt this would be the biggest world news globally, and at this point I'm sure many people across the world, including other nations that are not participating in the coalition, would know about the titan situation, Paradis, etc. I just think more could have been done, you know before Erin activated the rumbling. Its truly a shame, but honestly if I was a citizen of Paradis I can't say that I wouldn't be a jaegerist.

@@Red-vj3ww This is a very incorrect take in my opinion. If you want to use "who attacked first" argument, then we can go back to the original Eldian king with Ymir. In the scope of the show, the Eldians attacked and oppressed Marley first. At the end of the day, I don't think who attacked first matters at all. Both Marley and Eldia are the same and throughout history, whoever is the stronger at that point of time oppresses the other, it's just a vicious cycle. Looking at the state of Paradis right now, we can see that the people there are very ready to perpetuate this cycle by being the oppressors when the rumbling succeeds. The Eldians really aren't much better than the Marleyans.
As a viewer we see evidence that people from both sides can change. The whole point of Gabi and Kaya's character arc was to show genuine human connection and understanding is possible with one another. Theres quite a few errors in this, which are fairly relevant. As you have stated this is based purely on anime I'll put the points across as such because whilst I've had a few spoilers off the manga i haven't read it so i can't argue effectively from that pov.
    - Its not been thousands of years since the formation of the island city of paradis. Its been little over a century. Its been thousands (two thousandish to be precise...ish) since the emergence of the founder Ymir. This is relevant as the fear and hate in absolutely insane and irrational if they have not been a threat for 1000s of years, but less so when there are going to be older members of the ruling class in Marley who's parents recounted first hand horrors of the Eldians.
    - Eren does not see the future when he kisses Historia's hand. At least, not the way that you put it here. He states that he saw some more of his fathers memories. One of them was of his father failing to kill the ruling family and his future self intervening to force him too. Its not confirmed what other memories of his father he sees at this time, but he specifically states it was some of his fathers memories that were unlocked.
If we are strictly sticking to what is known in the anime, then at NO point has it ever been said that Eren is able to see the future in the way you are saying here. He has merely been said to be able to see some memories attack titans, past present and future. When he goes to the paths with Zeke, he is then able to have some kind of control over which memories he sees (although it not entirely clear if its Eren and is suggested its all Zeke, given what we see I suspect Zeke starts the viewing process and Eren highjacks it part way) and obviously shows he is able to use his presence in those memories to manipulate events, due to the time being weird in the paths.
Eren comes to conclusion the Marley is going to wipe Paradis of the face of earth based on the evidence they have presented themselves that they will do just that. He saw the hatred when they went across the sea. They made a declaration of war to do so. He saw what Annie and Reiner and Bert were prepared to do.
There was another way aside from the Rumbling. But it would have meant sacrificing Historia. And he wasn't prepared to do that. Despite the fact Historia was fine with it, which is where it gets a bit iffy in my view. Whilst I understand him not wanting to force that situation onto her because shes his friend and he cares for her... it is her decision. And he unilaterally decides to go against that and flatten the world.
Eren has shown many, many times that he is .... frankly not mentally stable. His far, far to EAGER to kill. I understand the want for revenge. I understand killing because there is no other choice. But Eren.... Eren enjoys it. He has never, ever shown any regret, any remorse over killing. Only his lack of killing. As Armin says... "Always with the killing."
Ultimately, I think whilst you can sit there and make arguments for why what his doing could be justified... I don't think it matter to Eren. Ultimately, I think his doing what his doing because he wants too.

And you just can't change centuries worth of brainwashed baggage with simple diplomatic solutions. As far as Eren was concerned, diplomacy was thrown out the window the day they sent Bertholdt to kick a hole into Shinganshina.

Isaya wrote Eren, being a totally normal person (unlike many other anime protagonists who have super powers)
So that he let us understand that everyone of us could be that demon, even the kindest persons among us (if the right conditions are met, it’s not easy but not impossible) and the we might make horrible decisions involving others’ suffering without enjoying others’ suffering but justifying it.
And this might not happen at a titanic and global scale like Eren, but in a tiny, almost unperceiveable way in our daily lives.
Just like Niccolo said, there’s a demon within him (for trying to kill a kid but also for previously agreeing with the world about hating eldians) and inside of us too.
We might believe we are heroes in our own lives but for others, we could’ve been monsters.
But Eren didn’t have a choice. The world of attack of titan did have it (but still chose to keep on hating)
So we too have the choice, whether we choose ignorance and hatred repeating the cycle of hatred or we can cut loose this cycle by forgiving those who do wrong to us, by choosing not to prioritize our commodities when it means that others will have to pay for it (common example: you are making a lot of efforts in your job to be ascended when a collegue gets that what you wanted by cheating or by inflaming you, so you are burning inside for revenge : here is where you decide whether we continue the cycle or stop it and we do have a choice unlike Eren)

THERE WAS ALWAYS AN ALTERNATIVE SOLUTION to the whole conflict between paradis and the outside world which is some of the scouts like armin eren mikasa and hange etc would meet willy tyber and discuss with him paradis's wush for peace then willy would relay their wish to the representatives of the world nations who gathered at liberio after he showed them the truth about carl fritz in the festival then hange will come out and tell the people that she is from paradis and descuss her plan for peace which is eren and historia will activate the founding titan power and unharden the walls and destroy all the wall titans in front of the world representatives at paradis then they will vow to use the founding titan power to communicate with ymir fritz at the paths and convince her to let go of the power of the titans (and the concept of her love for the 1st fritz king is stupid in and of itself)
Then the paradisians are allowed to leave paradis and explore the world and the rest of eldians in internment zones are freed and this is how you end the cycle of hatered

It's not a matter of "heroes" or "villains". It's a matter of "ladylike" personality vs "Alpha Male" personality. In this show, we had only 2 people being able to use the Founding Titan's power to its full potential. That is the "Founder Ymir" and Eren. Members of the Reiss family are not included, since they were bound by the King's vow to avoid war. So, on the one hand, Ymir was the example of a "ladylike" personality: always caring about the others, even more than herself, always willing to sacrifice herself and give her life away for the well being of others (the "other" Ymir, Historia's friend, had also this exact type of personality). On the other hand, we have Eren Jaeger. The "Alpha Male" personality. Since he was a little child, even before his mother was eaten, he had revealed his true colours: at the age of nine he did not hesitate to slaughter 2 adults who threatened to steal his freedom away. That's how he had always been. His own well being, and the well being of his loved ones, above anything else. Typical example of "Alpha male" personality. (And just to avoid any misunderstandings, my personal opinion is that the world would be a far better place to live in if the nations leaders had a personality of the "ladylike" type...)

And unlike Pixis' plan, he wasn't merciful enough to resume peace talks, resulting in Paradis being wiped out anyway.

Uhmm he tried everything else before fighting Marley, but it was Marley who didn't want peace. Also, most of what you said he isn't even guilty of, as it was done by others outside his control. Finally, the ending made it clear he was the hero of the story and despite his selfless sacrifice, the world didn't want peace with Paradis. On that note, why do you think everyone who shares your views cry about the story "justifying genocide"? Ironically, it ain't the yeagerists saying that lol

    • @ergob3907
      @ergob3907 Год назад +6

@@CHRISCAMPO-wq8bi Marley not wanting peace is an absolute moot point. No one is arguing against that. He absolutely could have destroyed them without betraying his friends and leaders and pulling a coup. Its not like Pixis wasn't planning on destroying Marley's forces with his partial rumbling plan
No, Eren went with Zeke behind everyone's back, knowing Zeke and Yelena would poison the police and had Floke blow up Zachary for no reason. He also let Levi's squad get killed, if not ordered it himself through Flock. He could have warned Pixis and the others but didn't.
Floke believed Eren was going for 100% but Eren lied to him. So Eren betrayed and mislead the Yeagerists too. Only for Eren to do exactly what his leaders he betrayed and murdered planned all along: A partial rumbling. Literally Eren went maverick for no reason whatsoever.
Then Eren goes and targets a bunch of countries NOT aligned with Marley- Marley isn't the whole world. Including countries that were considering aligning with him. Which made them hate Paradis more and destroy them in the end.
And as part of his stupid plan, Eren takes away his friends' Titans power and destroyed Paradis' walls- on top of killing his OWN military destroying every edge Paradis has against the outside world.
Eren killed his own mom and a bunch of his own people for his stupid fantasy of a "blank slate" empty world to explore. He outright says this in the ending. And I guess so Mikasa and Armin could live it up like the Tybers. He didn't give a fuck about Paradis, just wanted to destroy people. He was a selfish moron.

He knew how to gain full access to the power of the founding but said nothing.
He killed innocent women and children in Liberio which fast tracked the attack of the outside world and ended up endangering paradise earlier than planned.
They did talk to Eren. It was not their fault, eren chose not to disclose information
If Hange and Armin were presented with the possibility of using the founding at its fullest wrath, then they would've thought of a better plan (ala season 3 uprising arc)
